A recovered voicemail reveals President Joe Biden called his son, Hunter Biden, in late 2018 to discuss a New York Times report on the latter’s dealings with a Chinese oil tycoon who had been charged with financial crimes.
The leaked voicemail contradicts Biden’s claims that he never spoke with Hunter about his overseas business transactions.
“I think you’re clear,” Biden said to Hunter in the audio, first released by Daily Mail on June 27. “And anyway if you get a chance, give me a call, I love you.”
The voicemail, dating back to Dec. 12, 2018, came from Hunter’s old iPhone backup on his abandoned laptop.

During an attempted robbery at Ryan Howard Jersey store in Philadelphia, the would-be robber received instant justice and was killed.
As a man tried to get money out of an ATM just after 1 a.m., another man walked into the store and announced a robbery, police said.
Police believe the victim then took out his own gun and shoot the would-be robber who died.
Police are now looking for the victim and they would like to charge him because of Pennsylvania's stand your ground rule. Police have not identified him, but say he is in his late 20s or early 30s.
The military is facing the worst recruiting environment since the end of the Vietnam War.
The Army is at only 40% of its recruiting numbers for the fiscal year despite raising its maximum enlistment bonus from $40,000 to $50,000. It now offers new recruits up to $10,000 for showing up to basic training in 30 days. And is no longer even asking them for a high school diploma.

It required people seeking asylum at the southern border, mainly from Central America, to wait in Mexico while their claims were decided. Speaking from the NATO summit in Madrid on Thursday, President Joe Biden condemned the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and called for an exception to the Senate filibuster to codify the federal right to abortion.
“We have to codify Roe v. Wade in the law, and the way to do that, is to make sure that Congress votes to do that,” Biden said in response to a question from a Wall Street Journal reporter. He called the Supreme Court’s ruling “outrageous” and insisted that an exception to the filibuster is warranted to ensure the passage of legislation protecting unrestricted abortion access.

The Supreme Court on Thursday curbed the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) ability to regulate climate change, setting limits on how the agency can deal with power plants.
In a 6-3 ruling, the justices determined that Congress did not authorize the EPA to induce a shift toward cleaner energy sources using the approach that an Obama-era regulation sought to.
“Congress did not grant EPA…the authority to devise emissions caps based on the generation shifting approach the Agency took in the Clean Power Plan,” the majority wrote.

A bust of President Abraham Lincoln and a plaque of the Gettysburg Address have been removed from a Cornell University library.
“Someone complained, and it was gone,” Cornell biology professor Randy Wayne told the College Fix of the matter.
The bust of Lincoln and the bronzed plaque of the former president’s historic 1863 address had been in the Kroch Library, where the university’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections is located, since 2013.
Wayne said that he noticed the display was missing a few weeks ago and asked librarians what happened.

The whole abortion thing kind of baffles me because it is absolutely bizarre that anyone would choose this particular hill to die on or, rather, to kill a bunch of babies on. From a utilitarian angle, it's certainly not a great banner to be carrying because most normal people consider the whole thing horribly distasteful and frankly don't want to think about it. Ideologically, liberals could have gone either way. It's not like they believe in anything. It's not like they had to choose to defend abortion instead of opposing it. They have no problem telling people what they can and can't do as a principle.

According to a new report from the American Farm Bureau Federation, the total cost for an Independence Day BBQ is up $10 from 2021. That’s a 17 percent hike in cookout prices thanks to government-induced inflation.

Gas there is $4.94 per gallon, so we shouldn’t really have been surprised when the president took an unfortunate tumble off of a bike. The fall perfectly characterizes the state of American gas and oil prices since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.
The Monday after the fall, President Biden announced two potential solutions to remedy the sky-high gas prices: a tax holiday and a gas rebate card. Neither is a serious proposal, and Biden knows it. He and his administration should leave gas price relief to the states.
Theoretically speaking, gas tax holidays would work.

The Hyde Amendment, first included in federal appropriations bills in 1976, prohibits the federal government from funding abortions unless “the life of the mother would be endangered if the fetus were carried to term or where the pregnancy is the result of an act of rape or incest.” Activists estimate that the Hyde Amendment prevents at least 60,000 abortions every year.
The amendment is named for Republican Illinois Rep. Henry Hyde, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee who championed it.
