Ukraine’s New Status as EU ‘Candidate

Original Article

The European Council has now accepted the applications of Ukraine and Moldova to become “candidate member” countries of the European Union (EU). (snip) However, full membership for Ukraine is years and possibly decades away. This is because membership is only granted when the candidate country is able to satisfy the “Copenhagen Criteria” for membership. These criteria include a functioning market economy, a stable democracy supported by the rule of law, and the acceptance of all EU legislation and the common currency, the Euro. Article 2 of the Treaty on the European Union also requires that “respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights” are

There was a point in the Civil War where General Grant told his subordinate commanders, "I want you to stop thinking about what Lee is going to do to us. Go back to your commands and think about what you are going to do to Lee." Not a direct quote. But words to that effect. Montgomery had to do the same thing to de-mystify Rommel among his own troops. So when I see this "Dangerous Game" nonsense in a headline, I think, "Why is the author placing America and NATO in the role of second fiddle?"

This week Neil Oliver talks about the new Utopia we are being instructed to accept. A world in which there are no rights, only permissions. Everything including the modification of diets and the eating of bugs and fake meat; to the type of carbon footprint home we are permitted, to the energy we may use or the acceptable car we must drive; permissions, assuming of course, our social media profile and accompanying score is in line with regulatory inspection. Nope. Not happening. There are more of us than them. We will not eat the bugs. WATCH:

The Supreme Court followed up its June 23 landmark ruling that for the first time recognized a constitutional right to carry firearms in public for self-defense, by issuing a series of rulings June 30 reversing federal appeals court decisions that upheld gun restrictions in California, New Jersey, Maryland, and Hawaii. Courts will find it difficult to uphold the firearms laws in question after the high court’s June 30 and June 23 rulings. In unsigned orders, all four cases were remanded June 30 to lower courts “for further consideration in light of” the Supreme Court’s June 23 decision in New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Former President Trump said he’s not ruling out Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis as a possible running mate in a potential 2024 presidential bid. When asked in a Newsmax interview Thursday about a Trump–DeSantis ticket, Trump said he has a good relationship with the Republican governor. “Well, I get along with him,” Trump said. “I was very responsible for his success, because I endorsed him and he went up like a rocket ship.” Trump was referring to his 2018 endorsement of DeSantis. And after Trump’s endorsement, DeSantis’s support rapidly increased before he defeated Democrat Andrew Gillum.

Not since the decade leading up to the Civil War has there been as much discussion about the possibility of the United States splitting into two or more countries as there has been in the past 10 years. The reality is that this nation has effectively split into two countries which are, for the moment, tenuously living side-by-side. Race or ethnicity has been the underlying foundation in the creation of every nation in the history of mankind except the United States, as its founding was based on the tenet that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights that government cannot abrogate.
