Buttigieg launches $1B pilot to build
racial equity in roads

WASHINGTON — Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Thursday launched a $1 billion first-of-its-kind pilot program aimed at helping reconnect cities and neighborhoods racially segregated or divided by road projects, pledging wide-ranging help to dozens of communities despite the program’s limited dollars. Under the Reconnecting Communities program, cities and states can now apply for the federal aid over five years to rectify harm caused by roadways that were built primarily through lower-income, Black communities after the 1950s creation of the interstate highway system. New projects could include rapid bus transit lines to link disadvantaged neighborhoods to jobs; caps built on top

Comments:

These highways were built decades ago and cheered-on by the Democrat power structure controlling the cities. Now they are Racist.

It is about time. I demand that most roads be paved white, those on Indian Reservations should be red. No more than 13% with black pavement and slightly more with brown.

Will we no longer 'blacktop' with asphalt? Is there a white alternative? Will white people have to pay an equity tax for riding on the back of Black(top)?

From the article: “This is a forward-looking vision,” Buttigieg said. “Our focus isn’t about assigning blame. It isn’t about getting caught up in guilt. It’s about fixing a problem. It’s about mending what has been broken, especially when the damage was done with taxpayer dollars.” The reality is the overwhelming majority of the damage done with taxpayer dollars in this country is when a Democrat spends it and Buttigieg is just adding to it.

Petie wants to get more roads and transit lines in the inner cities so the criminals can get to the nicer areas of town to rob and kill the richer easier residents. I remember when in Baltimore they made the light train lines longer. All of a sudden the criminals could rob and kill and get out of town faster. Thanks Petie.

Albany, N.Y. — New York officials denied required air permit renewals Thursday to a bitcoin-mining power plant on the grounds that it was a threat to the state's climate goals. The permitting decision was another example of New York putting the brakes on a cryptocurrency bonanza that has alarmed environmentalists. It also comes at a time when cryptocurrency prices have plunged, wiping out fortunes, fueling skepticism and sparking calls for tighter scrutiny. The state's permitting decision involved Greenidge Generation, an old coal-fired plant by the shore of Seneca Lake that had once been shut down, but was converted from coal to

In the first elections since the Supreme Court's consequential ruling overturning Roe v. Wade, Democratic participation in the primaries in Illinois, New York and elsewhere Tuesday was lower than previous midterm cycles — and pollsters say that's a bad sign for Democrats' chances in November. Compared to the 2018 midterms, where Democrats swept the House in a blue wave reaction to former President Donald Trump, the 2022 primary season has seen anemic participation from Democratic voters. That didn't change after the Supreme Court's decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization Friday, which reversed 50 years of precedent recognizing a constitutional

Not since the decade leading up to the Civil War has there been as much discussion about the possibility of the United States splitting into two or more countries as there has been in the past 10 years. The reality is that this nation has effectively split into two countries which are, for the moment, tenuously living side-by-side. Race or ethnicity has been the underlying foundation in the creation of every nation in the history of mankind except the United States, as its founding was based on the tenet that all men are created equal and are endowed with certain unalienable rights that government cannot abrogate.
