The Athletics’ drawn-out battle with the city of Oakland may be coming to a conclusion sooner than many fans imagined as California continues to be a hot topic in sports. As many stars and businesses are leaving the state, others are considering doing the same. For a few years now, Athletics ownership has not been clear whether they intend to stay in Oakland or move to one of the many big markets which do not currently have a baseball team. In 2024, the Athletics’ will no longer be contractually obligated to play games in RingCentral Coliseum.

Ron DeSantis released his campaign’s final ad of the gubernatorial race and to say it succeeded would be a gross understatement. Whereas DeSantis’s opponent Charlie Crist has run a nasty and vile campaign – at different times calling his supporters “toothless hillbillies” and insinuating his supporters are just scummy people – DeSantis took the high road for one of the most positive and inspiring ads of the season.

Climate change protesters have broken into the British Parliament and glued themselves to the speaker's chair in the House of Commons, the latest in a series of stunts by activists. The five protesters are from the group Extinction Rebellion and are demanding action on climate change. Two of the protesters held signs, with one saying, "Let the people decide," and the other sign saying, "Citizens assembly now." Earlier this year, climate change protesters glued themselves to famous works of art to halt oil production and highlight the global food crisis caused by extreme temperatures.

There are certain historical figures and events from which we should all avoid drawing comparisons, and when one does make such a mistake, one should expect their credibility to be severely damaged or destroyed. Meghan Markle – who is also known as both The Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry’s boss – is getting schooled on that lesson this week. When trying to illustrate how evil and oppressive a situation might be, one should stay away from equating it to the Holocaust. There was only one Holocaust, thank heavens, and six million dead Jews were left behind as a result. There has never been anything even remotely similar
Ignore the trash talk: Republicans can
and will win this November

Trash talk is common in sports. Whether it’s lighthearted or nasty, the purpose is the same: to intimidate your opponent and make them lose focus and feel less confident in their ability to win. Democrats and their friends in the media are engaging in their own form of trash talk when it comes to the midterm elections. They wave around some meaningless poll or quote an “expert” who would have us believe that Republican Senate candidates are weak, President Joe Biden has had some great successes, the Democrats’ fundraising numbers give them a huge advantage, and Republicans can’t possibly win back the Senate.
Youngkin vows to untie Virginia from California’s
'out of touch' electric vehicle shift

Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) vowed to block all efforts to ban gas-powered vehicles in Virginia. His declaration comes after California’s Air Resources Board voted Thursday to implement an executive order by Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) that phases out gas-powered vehicles and bans the sale of them beginning in 2035. Virginia passed a law in 2021 that set the Commonwealth on a path to adopt California’s emissions standards. “In an effort to turn Virginia into California, liberal politicians who previously ran our government sold Virginia out

There are scores of variables that can impact the outcome of an election, and some are more critical than others. Who has the greatest number of lawn signs in a community? Whose spouse is more likable? Is the candidate a military veteran? Where do the candidates stand on hot-button social issues? And depending on the voter, any of these issues can play a huge role in determining how one votes. But there is one item that will trump all others when crunch time arrives, particularly when it comes to the coveted ‘independent voter.’ While huge swaths of the electorate will vote strictly
Anti-abortion Democrat tries to flip North
Dakota’s only House seat

As Democrats nationally campaign on abortion access following the Supreme Court's June ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, a red-state Democrat is bucking the trend. Democrat Mark Haugen, who is challenging Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND) for North Dakota’s at-large congressional district, is running a campaign focused on key issues for the state: the 2023 farm bill and improving access to healthcare for rural residents. But it is his position on abortion that is drawing attention, as it sets him apart from most other candidates in his party this cycle. “I never hid my pro-life beliefs,” Haugen told the Washington Examiner in
LA's woke DA Gascon claims prosecutors
were bullied into seeking his recall

Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said he has the support of most voters and will continue to do the work of the people despite half a million verified signatures of those who want him removed. Gascon spoke to the local Fox affiliate in his first public interview since a failed recall effort, saying the campaign to oust him was “water under the bridge” and that he will move forward with plans to keep the community safe. He didn’t say how he would mend relationships with 98% of prosecutors who backed his recall or why he has never met with any of them in person.
Donald Trump Reveals Who Likely Wouldn't

Donald Trump, despite staying mum on an official decision and announcement for the hotly-anticipated 2024 presidential content, nevertheless continues to drop hints and clues about his political future. In his recent interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump conceded that he at least had eliminated one potential running mate. Coming as a shock to few, the former president suggested that returning to the campaign trail with

Former President Donald Trump has once again done the improbable: He has turned a possible federal criminal investigation into a political positive. In the days since the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago, Trump has rallied the Republican Party behind him to a degree not seen since he was in the White House, once again sucking all the oxygen out of the room for other Republicans who might want to run for president in 2024 or are on the ballot in other races this year. The big question is whether Trump can sustain this momentum as more information about the FBI search is made public, including what exactly the bureau was looking for,
End Trump raid secrecy replies

END TRUMP RAID SECRECY. There's a line at the end of an Axios newsletter that sums up everything that is wrong about media coverage and public discussion of the FBI's unprecedented raid on the home of former President Donald Trump. "These investigations are top secret," Axios's Mike Allen wrote. "So more likely than not, we won't get the full picture any time soon." The bad word is secret. Excessive secrecy gave rise to wild, absolutely crazy speculation during the years of the Trump-Russia "collusion" investigation. Little bits of information would leak, upon which journalists and other talking heads would build elaborate structures of speculation.
