Four homes in the Sungarden neighborhood of Citrus Heights in California were reportedly targeted early Saturday morning. Each of them was displaying Old Glory. Police are asking Sungarden residents to assist them in identifying those responsible for setting fire to four American flags on Saturday morning. The marchers were almost all white. I saw fewer than a dozen black people and no Hispanics.
Most were young women looking vaguely guilt-ridden. They were well-dressed, well-groomed and well-fed. I’m not passing judgment, mind you, but just reporting the facts.
Some were in small groups of similar young women. Some were with boyfriends, who were neither well-groomed nor well-fed. They were scrawny and scruffy, if you ask me, with thin beards.

Liberals and conservatives alike have identified police unions as a barrier to salutary reform. They aren’t wrong—and union contracts are one reason why reforming police departments is so hard. But while Left and Right may agree about police unions, those on the left would not make a broader connection: that the problems posed by police unions in particular are similar to those with public-sector unions in general.
Liberal sympathy for organized labor doesn’t extend to police unions because cops are seen as the “bad proletariat.”
Seven people were wounded in three shootings just 10 minutes apart Monday night in different Brooklyn neighborhoods, police said. A Minneapolis manufacturing company has decided to leave the city, with the company's owner saying he can't trust public officials who allowed his plant to burn during the recent riots. The move will cost the city about 50 jobs.

A St. Paul man has been charged in connection to the arson at the Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct.
Monday, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced it charged 23-year-old Branden Michael Wolfe with aiding and abetting arson.
The Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct was caught on fire on May 28 following rioting that occurred after the death of George Floyd, a black man who died while in the custody of the Minneapolis Police Department.

Blitzer began by pressing Bender on what it means “to dismantle the Minneapolis police department,” to which Bender responded in part by saying, “our community is ready to re-imagine public safety from the ground up to think holistically and to make sure every single member of our community is safe.”

A Chicago woman, evidently frustrated by armed guards at a local cell phone preventing her acquisition of new equipment during the recent rioting, tells us a lot about the state of thinking in the riot-American community. She’s not showing a lot of intersectional solidarity with Muslim immigrants, whom she denounces as not real Africans because they are from Morocco (she says), and at one point repeatedly yells, ”Burn them, Allah!” as she drives by, circling around to extend the harrangue. It’s unfair, you see, because the black lives she thinks they will take are not insured, though she presumes the store is.
