Bubba Wallace, NASCAR's only black driver, believes it is time for the stock car circuit to finally ban the Confederate flag from its events. 'No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race,' the 26-year-old Alabama native told CNN on Monday. 'So it starts with Confederate flags. Get them out of here. They have no place for them.' Wallace was speaking following Sunday's race Atlanta in which he wore an 'I Can't Breathe' shirt during the national anthem in a reference to the recent killing of George Floyd, an unarmed African-American man, by Minneapolis police.

So the fact that we fought a war to end slavery, ended slavery, and put it behind us, must now be forgotten?
I don't think so.
Many brave souls gave up their lives for the Confederacy. Maybe Bubba better find a place where he will be comfortable. Perhaps some Muslim nation will make him happy. There he will not have to see a Confederate flag.
What a crock!

...so Bubba wants to erase the American heritage of millions ??
...ok...how about, since we're talking of heritage, blacks stop calling themselves "African-Americans"...since none of them came from there...??

Well, Bubba can't be very smart because you know that now there will more Confederate flags than ever at NASCAR and if I were going I would be sure to go get one, just because, reasons.

If 'Bubba' can offend me by wearing a BLM shirt, then I can offend him by wearing a Rebel flag. "No one should feel uncomfortable when they come to a NASCAR race", he says. What about all the people in the stands who don't agree with BLM? Sorry Bubba, suck it up buttercup.

Professional sports in its entirety is dead to me. Even NASCAR, which Sunday should have been honoring patriots who commit to supporting military families at the Folds of Honor 500 instead wasted the intro of the race to bow to BLM. They're all dead to me. Support them if you will....until they make you sick as well. Then turn them all off for good. Let antifa and BLM sponsor them all.

These past few races have been to acclimate the drivers to no fans in the stands. With the mask and kneeling for the anthem before each race the transformation is now complete.

Have to agree. Way overdue. Whether recognized by the flag-holders or not, that flag is an 'in your face' testament to racism not a paean to civic pride.

In this day, why would one bring a flag that you know will trigger people. I have a confederate battle flag, but dont fly it out of respect for my neighbors. I dont believe in bans, but I do believe in not antagonizing people for no good reason.
We lost the confederate battle flag issue a long time ago.

Not true #12.
The flag is a symbol of Southern culture, not slavery or racism. In fact, it is a symbol AGAINST oppression- the oppression visited on the South by the north before the ''civil'' war (and even since).
History can be rewritten, but not the truth!
By the way, slavery existed in the north before the ''civil'' war, and racism is much worse there than in the South.

Take that "testament to racism" bull and shove it.
The racist Black Liberation Movement (aka BLM) is offended?
So what?
NO ONE has the right to not be offended.
Period.

So many blacks are nothing more than professional victims, and I for one, am sick of it. Until the black communities in this country are willing to admit that they are the only ones who can change their own lives, then the riots, poverty, crime, etc. will continue. They need to, somehow, get the fathers of their children to stay with the mother and be a responsible adult/parent. Stop blaming ‘whitey’ for all your troubles. Stop aborting your babies. The black men of this country need to MAN UP!!

I have no particular love for the Confederate flag. My family immigrated after the Civil War, and except for one ancestor, all of the families, mine joined with, were from the Union side. Though a child at the time, I clearly remember the days of the Civil Rights struggle. In those days, whether in the North or the South, your family could be threatened or ruined if you openly supported MLK.
Most people who wave the Confederate Flag, do so without thought of Slavery or Racism. It's a symbol of rebelliousness and individualism to them, much like the Gadsden Flag, which is also popular at these events.
I could go on and on about the treachery of the Politicians who began fomenting rebellion against America from the day it was founded, and the ink of their pens still wet on the Constitution they had accepted. They would have preferred to simply conquer the land they were raised in and become Kings in all but name.
They were the Democratic Republican Party, who later shortened their name to simply the Democratic Party. Even to this day, you cannot do business nor easily gain political power without going through them. If there is evil in America, don't look to the symbolic strawman of a flag. Look to the men that used that symbol to hoodwink a generation of Americans to fight their brothers for their benefit - because with BLM and AntiFa, they are doing it again.
I don't give a damn about the Stars and Bars. We need to focus on the Evil behind the symbols. Bubba, quit being stupid.

NASCAR used to be fun until the people who founded it passed the reins on to their grandchildren. The last race I attended was the race Kevin Harvick won in Atlanta right after he took over Dale Earnhardt's ride. NASCAR has turned its back on the fan base that made it what it is today. This is just more evidence of that.

Watching virtually identical cars, interchangeable drivers, indistinguishable tracks, over and over again finally lost my attention after 50 years. Regardless, NASCAR's glory days are long gone. Confederate flags will go just like cigarette sponsorship and ethanol free racing gas. The hyper slick hairdo announcers will do their part and fall in line. NASCAR today is more like Disneyland, rubberized, homogenized, synchronized, trivialized. They don't understand it wasn't the racing people really came to see. It was the spectacle of half crazed wild men hurtling down the straightaway at absolutely reckless and dangerous speeds with little thought of the consequences not because it meant something, not because of money, not to further an industry career, not for the shot at a place in some cheesy hall of fame, but because it was fun. RIP NASCAR. Will bury you with full CSA honors.

I take Bubba Wallace's comments with a big grain of salt.
He seems to be searching out any and all cameras these last few days.
Not sure why he thinks he's a special voice to hear, he's not.
NASCAR has wanted desperately for him to succeed, he's had very good cars, teams and support with little to show for it. He recently lost his primary sponsor when he had a tantrum over one of those sim-races being held while the real ones were not being run.
What I'm seeing now is cynical, opportunistic and self-serving. He's using the news, the news is using him.

Hard to argue with the wisdom of a 26 year old. I've read Bubba's books and he really has an interesting take on history and how the melting pot of America worked or did not work since it's founding. Nah, I'm kidding. He is another fool educated by TV and the American educational system, which has been a tool of liberals for about 60 years.
Doesn't it bother Bubba that there are no trans drivers? If this hotshot hasn't knelt yet, he will. I haven't followed NASCAR since they stopped using street cars and went to the decals for headlights bespoke roundy round race cars. The Chrysler Daytona specials were the last interesting thing from the NASCAR world. A. because they dominated and B. because people could actually drive them on the street. Other than the occasional track level camera shot as the pack blows by, I have no idea what is happening on the ovals. They could be racing Teslas by now for all I know. That might be interesting for a race or two.

Got any comments about that. How about all of the cities democrats are burning down. Thing those people feel a little uncomfortable. And you're worried about a flag. That's the least of our problems.

I have never followed racing, but maybe Mr. Bubba could have some concern for all the people who now have no jobs to go to in those cities where the looters burned out the stores. Also the ones who now have no place to shop in their neighborhoods because the food stores were burned. Haven't heard a word about them. And if I were the only black among the racers, I think I would kind of keep my head down and my mouth shut.

I grew up in NC where Richard Petty (The King) and The Intimidator were Southern royalty for black, white, and Indian. I never went to a race in my whole life, but I can take you to Dale's home in Franklin County with my freakin' eyes closed. Shame on almost looks white Bubba. The problem is that non-Southerners are jealous. The South has the confederate flag which Southern troops carried during the Civil War. But what do Northerners have? Though Northern troops fought under the Stars & Stripes, you can bet dollars to donuts that those that decry the Confederate flag would not bring the Stars & Stripes to wave.
