On May 27, the American coronavirus death toll rose to six figures: 100,000 lives lost. That’s a very sad number, made sadder when we ponder that the virus prevents loved ones from saying goodbye in person and makes any funeral an extremely small event. America’s largest national newspapers have all made dramatic front pages out of the number. The New York Times came first on Sunday, filling its entire front page and three more pages with names of the victims. USA Today followed on Wednesday with an entire front page in black and white and photos of the dead. The Washington Post waited until we reached the horrible number

Social media has anointed an unlikely new sex symbol in the form of Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey. Frey, 38, a Democrat who became the city's mayor in 2018, has become the focus of a social media frenzy in the last week, with dozens of users praising his 'hot' looks - and even professing their 'love' for the official. The Twitter sensation comes amid a devastating time for the city of Minneapolis, which has been torn apart by riots over the tragic death of black resident George Floyd, who lost consciousness when white cop Derek Chauvin knelt on his neck for

I took hydroxychloroquine for two years. A long time ago as a visiting cancer surgeon in Asia, in Thailand, Nepal, India, and Bangladesh. From 1987 to 1990. Malaria is rife there. I took it for prophylaxis, 400 milligrams once a week for two years. Never had any trouble. It was inexpensive and effective. (Snip) Then something happened to this wonder drug. From savior of the multitudes, redeemer and benefactor of hundreds of millions, it transformed into something else: a purveyor of doom, despair, and unspeakable carnage. It began when President Trump discussed it as a possible treatment for COVID-19

The Centers for Disease Control has finally produced a report with a mortality figure for COVID-19, and it’s good news. Its “best estimate” is around 0.26%, as opposed to the original World Health Organization estimate of 3.4%. That’s about twice the accepted rate for a typical seasonal flu. But it’s vastly below some 20th century flu pandemic rates, pandemics that didn’t lead to widespread deprivation of human rights, the possibility of the greatest economic downturn since the 1930s with attendant misery and death and an ominous cry for a “New Normal.” The “Asian flu” of 1957-1958 (H2N2) had a death

Almost totally absent from the mainstream news Friday, as the violent insurrection in the wake of George Floyd’s death spread to cities nationwide, were the preliminary results of his autopsy. The report was part of the arrest warrant for Derek Michael Chauvin (snip) The brief mention of the autopsy suggests that the case against Chauvin, and possibly his three colleagues assuming they too will eventually be charged, for being totally responsible for the death of Floyd may not be as cut and dried as previously thought.

Judging by extensive photo and video documentation from the scene, the looters and arsonists in Minnesota were up to one half white, largely of the (forgive the crude expression) "scrawny commie stoner" variety. The same is true with respect to the latest mayhem in Atlanta; New York; and Washington, D.C. These events have little in common with the race riots of the 1940s and 1960s. The majority of these young people, of all races, seem to be having a good time. (snip) What I am getting at is that the kids are going crazy.

Joe Biden needs a running mate. The presumptive Democratic nominee for president has spent the pandemic campaigning on his own, usually from his basement. Frequent blunders, glaring lapses in memory, and even saying during an appearance on The Breakfast Club, "If you have a problem figuring out whether you're for me or for Trump, then you ain't black," are enough to make a supporter cringe. It's not a good look. In March, Biden announced that he would select a woman as his running mate. The pandering was exhausting from Day One. No less than the New England Journal of Medicine has dealt a body blow to America’s growing army of mask fascists with the news that “wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection.” The reasons for this are both simple and logical: We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes).

Newly unsealed court documents show that top executives at Planned Parenthood were familiar with its organ-harvesting operations and privately discussed lucrative deals even as the abortion giant publicly denied profiting from the sale of body parts obtained from aborted babies. A video from the Center for Medical Progress, founded by undercover pro-life journalist David Daleiden, compiles testimonies from Planned Parenthood representatives who admit to planning to sell fetal organs, alongside documents showing the organization profited from selling the tissue. Selling fetal tissue for profit is illegal under federal law, although it is unclear how much companies can charge for shipping and handling the tissue.

T he tragic death of George Floyd on May 25 in Minneapolis has set off massive protests in the city and elsewhere. The protesters point to a video in which a police officer uses his knee to restrain Floyd, applying pressure to his neck for several minutes, as Floyd protests that he can’t breathe. This will remind any politically aware person of the death of Eric Garner in New York City in 2014. While New York City waited five years before firing the police officer in the Garner case, Minneapolis moved more swiftly, firing all four officers who were responsible for detaining Floyd the next day. Today, this generation is passing that torch to invite a new generation of barbarians to burn and loot and pillage, not serve and protect. The modern urban mayor is epitomized by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, who has chosen not to crack down on the barbarians torching his city, but encourages them to keep the flames hot because “The symbolism of a building cannot outweigh the importance of life.” That laughable, sophomoric statement isn’t going to save anyone or any structure. That’s it?! Transcripts of the infamous calls between Michael Flynn and then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak reveal what was already known: The conversations between an incoming administration official and a foreign representative weren’t treason, they were perfectly normal. The Obama administration had just sanctioned Russia for its meddling in the 2016 election. Flynn is requesting that Kislyak lobby to keep Russia’s response “reciprocal” because he didn’t want things to escalate — particularly in the fresh days of new leadership. Funny how the liberal media didn’t think there was anything wrong with President Barack Obama making a similar plea to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in the run-up to the 2012 election;

Is the beginning of Jack Dorsey's end in President Trump's executive order on social-media bias? In an adjective: unlikely. Should Trump get his druthers, social media companies will be liable for the content published on their platforms. In other words, Cousin Merle's inane Facebook ramblings will now be Mark Zuckerberg's problem, along with the darkly meandering thoughts of billions of other souls. Twitter set this gamesmanship in train by attempting to fact-check a claim by the president that mail-in ballots are ripe with fraud. The check itself was factitious: a West Virginia postman was charged with election fraud involving mail-in ballots the same day as Trump's flagged tweet.
