No less than the New England Journal of Medicine has dealt a body blow to America’s growing army of mask fascists with the news that “wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection.”
The reasons for this are both simple and logical:
We know that wearing a mask outside health care facilities offers little, if any, protection from infection. Public health authorities define a significant exposure to Covid-19 as face-to-face contact within 6 feet with a patient with symptomatic Covid-19 that is sustained for at least a few minutes (and some say more than 10 minutes or even 30 minutes).

So then as of today, the New England Journal of Medicine has said not to wear masks, and I also thought I read yesterday that the CDC said we did not have to wear masks except around the very sick. . No wonder everything is such a mess; none of them can agree on anything!

The masks are a symbol of the liberal movement..."we are in it together". I laugh when I see the idiot wearing a mask driving the care, riding a bike, walking the dog, etc. It reminds me of that creepy little nerd that wants to join an important club and they feel important when they put the stupid mask on their face.
What needs to happen, someone needs to make a statement and provide everyone guidelines on this issue. I'm tired of reading that WHO, New England Journal of Medicine says you do not have to wear the mask and then you have those at CDC say, yes wear the dirty mask.

OK, A new questions:
If an uninfected person encounters a person with COVID-19, by what fraction does the wearing of a mask reduce the risk of becoming infected?
If a person with COVID-19 encounters an uninfected person, by what fraction does the wearing of a mask reduce the risk of passing the infection?
The answer == crickets == tumble weed. Our blessed CDC and WHO (all bow) have failed to perform quite simple virology tests to address this contentious area of politics.
Another question. Democrats have much higher infection rates than Republicans. Why? And Why do Republicans not wear masks whereas Democrats do?

I agree, #2. The whole thing is a farce. There a diehards at work that still wear them. I suspect it has more to do with the image. As I said before, you can tell in very little time where people get their information. And most of them are not getting it from conservative sources.

Help. -- so masks are just for the very sick or Antifa now? Can anyone let me know what the new rules are this morning, because I need to go to Target and don't want to get mistaken for a domestic terrorist.

Seems like Trump could get out there, mention a couple of these findings, and shut down this stupid mask garbage. Yesterday I saw an old Nam Vet in the store with a mask, but a shirt that read, "I have PTSD--Pretty Tired of Stupid Democrats" so it's not just lefties with the masks. People are still scared, thanks to the Enemedia.

The only way to get people to stop wearing face masks is for Trump to insist on wearing them!

# 1 correction - I guess it was the WHO who said you can take off your mask unless you are around someone who is sick. So many contradictions coming from the experts that it is hard to keep up with them all. My pet parakeet could do a better job managing this whole Covid 19 virus than the "experts" who are in charge.

Our governor has said masks are no longer required, yet we had a 'Karen' call the sheriff's department to complain about a store manager who was letting shoppers shop, without masks. Masks are the liberal equivalent of red 'MAGA' ball caps. It shows the world that you are a good and caring person, unlike the people not wearing masks, who want to kill you.

I think all democrat women should wear the Muslim garb- the one where all you can see are the eyes! Wouldn't that be maximum protection?

The rule beginning this morning, #5, if you happen to live in the state I live in (Virginia), is that if you go ANYWHERE without wearing a mask you are breaking the law.

Like the red Trump 2020 ball cap make all masks with the logo and see the mask come off or people on the left offended by the red mask.
By August anyone still wearing a mask will most certainly be identified as a democrat. The mask is a hoax to promote no gatherings and voting by mail in ballots. This is all a political stunt to wreck a once booming economy and steal an election to beat President Trump. It's a new kind of war and we better be ready to fight.

I don't wear a mask. Leave me alone. If you don't like it, stay back 25 feet, a mile, whatever distance you feel safe. And shut up, I am not interested in a conversation about my liberties with strangers. I have not given strangers leave to tell me what to do. Thank you.

Just ragging the idiotic repetition of tweet-based reporting style.
What I'd like to know is whether masks provide any protection from infection outside health care facilities.

wash your hands; don't touch your face
wash your hands; don't touch your face
when the mask starts to make your nose itch, whatever you do, don't touch your face
