The critical leadership test that followed the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man in Minneapolis killed by a white police officer, has proven one thing - state and local leaders tasked with responding to the escalating crisis have failed miserably- and they know it. (Snip) According to local reports, orders issued by bullhorn to disperse were laughed off and it seemed no one paid any attention to the state's 8 p.m. curfew. The Minneapolis Star Tribune's editorial board also blasted local leaders for failing to gauge the severity of the situation and not realizing that "Floyd's death could set

But didn't the Mayor or Governor show sympathy for the "protesters" by telling them to observe social distancing? What wonderful concern for their health. I'm surprised the liberal rag didn't concentrate on that part.

I have my protest sign already almost made. It says JUSICE FOR and some usable space. As soon as a black cop shoots a white guy I'll fill in the name and go see if my local Lexus dealer has something that catches my eye. 65 inch flat screen TV's ??? Amateurs.

But President Trump is king and is responsible for everything down to the local level. Governors and mayors have no responsibility at all. Kinda like George Bush was responsible for the response to Katrina in New Orleans. The Chocolate City mayor didn't have any responsibility at all. /s

This is the "leadership" here on display in Minnesota: The mayor of Mpls says inbetween attempts at looking anguished: Minneapolis is reeling. I am reeling. We have to get over this. Please stop. (The same guy who ordered the police station to be surrendered to thugs because "lives are more important than brick and mortar.") His tears and platitudes sound like an impassioned politician on the campaign trail. The Mpls police chief says that they have not sent cops in to stop the looters because their (cops') focus is on human lives. The governor first throws the mayor under the bus, then later the two appear together and are all kissy-faced with each other. The governor is happy to see that at least some of the protesters are trying to practice social distancing and are also wearing masks. The governor seems to brag that under his "leadership" the state is seeing more law enforcement than ever before. The governor asks the looters to please go home. The governor publicly states that all the law enforcement is not enough; "We need Minnesotans to help" The governor claims to take responsibility and says that he "owns" this, then he shifts the responsibility to all citizens saying, "Minnesota OWNS this." The governor tells the people to stop looting and go home because "we're not looking to arrest you." The governor says that the reason the press hasn't seen evidence of any law enforcement is because the press is not looking in the right places. The general of the MN National Guard says that they were called up, but the protocol is that they be given a plan and a mission, and none was forthcoming. Yesterday morning the question was if there'd be a curfew. The governor said, "We'll let you know this afternoon." This morning the question was, what will he do to make sure that tonight is different from the previous three nights. The governor's answer: "We're working on that." The governor said that he did not request federal troops, but appreciates the option the President has given them to use them. "But we have to be careful; there's a balance that has to be considered....if you have an overwhelming response of law enforcement arresting these individuals, it's going to fan the flames. The mantra has been that this has been brewing for 400 years. In other words....Our white privileged forerunners and ancestors are just as responsible as we are for this mess....don't blame us. And the "oppressed" in Minnesota see that mantra as justification to stick it to the man; because their heritage has been oppressed/suppressed for 400 years; it's about time we cash in and get what's due to us.
That, my L-dotter friends, is the Minnesota/Twin Cities "leadership". I believe they're taking their advice from counselors and psychologists. Believe me, the 77 out of 87 counties that did NOT vote for Walz as governor are shaking their heads and thankful that they do not live in the Twin Cities.

You got to remember that the police around the USA, with most of the officers being White men, make many hundreds of thousands of routine encounters in accordance with their duties with Black men every year, so while not defending the Minneapolis police officers conduct that obviously from known evidence did not appear to be in keeping with contemporary police practices in their dealing with George Floyd. So you have to figure that a few of those police encounters every year are not going to turn out without serious repercussions, with the problems usually started by the Black men becoming aggressive and resisting arrest. In that respect politicians and community organizers should impress upon Black men when encountered by the police not to become aggressive towards the police officers or resist arrest. As we see in rare occasions during a dynamic police encounter their lives could well depend upon assuming a cooperative attitude towards the police, and then if it comes to that, being alive to explain their side of their case to a judge while being represented by a lawyer.

I laughed through every response by these so-called leaders. (It was either that or cry.) Progressive political philosophy in action, or inaction as the case may be. It read like a Saturday Night Live skit back in the '70s.

Let's not act like whites don't burn, loot, and tear up stuff too. Those really white white people in Europe do it all the time. I seem to recall lots of footage of antifa doing just those things not too long ago. Those people don't largely get arrested either; they too are allowed to act out until they get tired. I'm not justifying anything; just saying people are people. Many black and brown people out here would never riot, loot, and burn down other people's property, just like most white; most don't even protest. Don't be part of the problem. Be like those two sexy (the act, not their looks. . . well?) white guys who went to help their fellow citizens; they get it.

The Governor and Mayor are supposed leaders - No way! Clueless and have no leadership ability. Shameful and disgusting. They both need to resign now!

How long do you think these violent protests would have been allowed in Edina (Everyday I Need Attention), or the part of Minneapolis with multi-million dollar mansions? It would have stopped immediately! But, they burned down their own neighborhoods and their own stores!!! Wait for it in 6 months...wailing and gnashing of teeth that "we need Federal Dollars to rebuild our poor cities"...
