As protests and unrest continued in Minneapolis following the killing of George Floyd, people are questioning the identity of a man filmed smashing windows. Footage emerged of the white man, dressed all in black, and in gloves and boots, calmly smashing the windows of an auto parts store with a large hammer. His face is obscured by an expensive-looking gas mask and he is also holding an open black umbrella — although it was not raining. Twitter quickly christened him 'Umbrella Man'. The strange choice of clothes for a warm day, combined with the high quality gas mask, raised suspicions. He

Too bad no one thought to arrest him for destruction of private property.

Dumb Question. Since the police in the cities being looted & torched control the buildings near the rioting, why can't they position snipers with rubber bullets to target the worst of the protesters and make their lives miserable? Have a video of the perp doing bad things and then getting nailed. Not much chance of a successful defense for a bad persecution.

Watch officials pursue the white guy who calmly smashed some windows by himself and disregard the hundreds of angry blacks who brought looting and violence, so the MSM fake news can feature his image with reports that armed white supremacists were at the heart of the mayhem.

So the umbrella man and like-minded criminals take Rudy Giuliani's famous "broken windows" policy and stand it on its head. Rudy would crack down on broken windows (the minor stuff) to set the stage for civil society; the criminals here create the broken windows to set the stage for riot and chaos. Both prove that the broken windows policy works.

I was thinking this mysterious white man was an ANTIFA or some Leftist agitator employed to start the looting and rioting by beginning to break windows and motivating looters to take advantage. I wouldn't be surprised if other cities had "lone wolves" planted in strategic areas to begin the riots and looting in each big city, like this. It could be a coordinated effort. Create chaos so people will beg for order. Push false narratives like "hands up, don't shoot!" and poor little Skittles eating Trayvon, and conflate those justifiable deaths with wrongful deaths like Floyd and Garner to further the left's agenda to falsely portray the country as having institutional racism.

Somewhere I read instructions for the rioters that said there would be people in yellow vests stationed in the area to help direct them to certain safe areas. I saw one video, maybe at the White House because LE were forcing them back, and there was someone with a black umbrella near the front of the line. Couldn't see the person but you could see the umbrella. LE need to start taking names and kicking butt. These people have been getting away with this for years. I heard either a senator or governor say that probably congress would step up and give store owners $$ to rebuild their businesses. The tax payer is always the loser. Every day in every way.

The latest and most recent coordinated effort to remove Orange Man, the Wuhan Flu, hasn't worked as fast as it was supposed to --- so now it's time for all out race riots! Those rioters seemed to be awfully close together without masks on so all we need to do is wait about a week and they will all soon show up at the hospitals with the deadly cough & fever. Then we can arrest them! If only. In America now you can be arrested for opening a store but not burning it down. That's how much "Progressives" have polluted our society.

I saw a news reporter in LA mention that fireworks, which are illegal in California, were being shot toward the police. He then mentioned that the same tactic is being used in cities across the country. His next question is a good one: if this is spontaneous, how did they get fireworks into a state that bans them? Plus the other cities that no doubt ban them? This is a major clue to the origins of this mess.

If one reads this article and others, it seems that this was rumored to be an undercover police officer acting as an agent provocateur to stir up trouble. That “social media” rumor had the police department denying that was true. But not before the story went viral on Twitter. The world is full of nuts. This just looks like another. He is shown in a clear-fronted gas mask (not a COVID mask) of some sort, showing light skin and his eyes. When it comes to race and mixed race persons, skin color and eye color are no longer true indications of a person’s ethnicity. The black boy in the pink shirt was believed to be following him, but not dissuading him from damaging property. Re #27, this was reported in a number of US publications including Forbes, Insider, etc. It is reasonable that the lefty Independent would grab the story in the UK. Fits their narrative. There were plenty white people joining in these riots. Lawless crowds of thugs who used George Floyd as a reason to riot and loot and burn things out...

Press is implying that the right wing have a hand in these riots for political purposes when in truth the right wing would not be touching this with a ten foot pole. The Press knows that this is *their nickle*! The Left is the sole owner and they play the race card when politically convenient! Organized and paid off some will say by Soros' Pay Masters experienced from BLM and Dakota Access Pipeline demos where Greenies brushed aside the Natives with the power from the dollar!

And yet I watched Media Watch on Fio this a.m. and was assured that "protesters" did not come from out of state, and that somehow, in a Democratic state with a Democratic Governor, and a Democratic Minneapolis mayor forever, Donald Trump was somehow to blame for a policeman with 18 complaints against him still being on the force, not to mention the three other cops who watched this horrendous thing go down. ANTIFA is well organized, at least half the rioters were white (at least) and smashing windows and burning buildings and those guys in Ninja black seemed to know exactly where to strike and who to encourage re: theft. The real joke is that a number of Hollywood types are raising funds for those arrested, and you have to assume at least 85% of this arrested were brick throwing, molotov cocktail armed criminals for the day, either ANTIFA or Blacks (and whites) who looked at the dead man as an opportunity.

In politics your friends are more trouble than your enemies. Joe Biden is experiencing this phenomenon right now. Even though Democratic voters and interests detest President Trump to an unprecedented degree, the squabbling factions of their coalition continue to impose demands on Biden and parse every word, making sure he doesn’t violate ideological norms and sensibilities — potentially costing him the presidency. America’s two-party system forces candidates for president to cobble together a big coalition of interests and demographics that sit uncomfortably under a big tent. The result is competing demands and constant jockeying for influence. These interests often lose
