Was she a mask Nazi, or a masked Nazi? She was both. Here’s the story. I was hiking alone in the Colorado Rockies. I encountered a woman rounding a bend in the trail who muttered something to me as we passed one another. I said, “Excuse me?” She unloaded on me with a tirade of unprintable curses and uncompromising demands that I wear a mask, like hers. So worked up was she that the microdroplets expectorated straight through her mask at approximately 3,400 mph.

Why isn’t Coexist written on the mask? I wear one so as to not scare people (there’s a double purpose there).

The people who are dedicated fans of mask-wearing and think that you should be too are those who know the least about infectious viruses and medical protection in general. The best way to handle a challenge when you are accused of being a bare- faced neanderthal is to ask them technical medical questions about why they wear one and what the mask is doing for them? Yes, they will become angry and frustrated but you will go away smiling at your exposure of another sheep-like dunce.

Speaking of useless things, our town is providing plexiglas shields for cash register stands to deserving small businesses so they can open. What is this shield supposed to do? Do they think the virus is like the LSTs on D-Day? Jumping off their mother ship (the customer) and heading in a straight line to their assigned target (the clerk)? Can you say "placebo"?

One of the commentors under the article had a great suggestion: all masks should have MAGA printed on them. That will end the left's love affair with them and put the kibosh on this type of virtue signaling.

I think masks makes people more bold than they would normally be under different circumstances. Why do you think Antifa thugs wore masks other than for hiding from being recognized?

I was shooting trap this week, and one of the guys in my group came to the range wearing a mask. I told him his facemask wouldn’t do any good; he said it might stop some virus from getting through. I explained how porous the fabric mask was, and how small the virus is, and explained it was akin to putting a chain-link fence around his house to keep the mosquitoes out. He said “well, it makes me feel better”. I told him that he was doing something completely ineffective because it made him feel good, so he must be a liberal. He ttok the mask off a couple of minutes later, and never put it back on....

If required by state, county, city or business vendor, I comply with wearing a mask (any kind will meet my needs to have access to what I need/want to do}.. But, on the other hand if I want to reduce exposure to MYSELF, I will wear an N-95 or N 99 mask. Early on when the virus was more of an unknown, I read up on N-95 and N 99 filtration efficiencies and specifications (microns, particle penetration measurements, etc) and COVID 19 particle sizes (colloid, aerosols, and its individual virus size (average diameter) distributions}). For ME (and my fam), wearing an N 99 or N 95 reduces (not eliminates) possible exposure from someone else.Last time I read on it it was my WAG assessment that the N 99 and N 95 filtering mask (really called a respirator) was somewhere between 70 to 90-ish effective. Outside (streets, parks, beaches, etc) we walk and recreate without a mask. If I go into an environment that is the least bit questionable (near-do-wells, homeless, unknowns), I wear my N-999s or N 95s for MY protects, not theirs.

Urban trekking around Denver the other day, I happened across a protest march of maybe a thousand people. Here’s what I observed. The marchers were almost all white. I saw fewer than a dozen black people and no Hispanics. Most were young women looking vaguely guilt-ridden. They were well-dressed, well-groomed and well-fed. I’m not passing judgment, mind you, but just reporting the facts. Some were in small groups of similar young women. Some were with boyfriends, who were neither well-groomed nor well-fed. They were scrawny and scruffy, if you ask me, with thin beards.

We all know the story. In the first chapter, they transformed the laugh line “I demand a recount” into actual demands for recounts. But the recounts didn’t materially change the vote totals. Then they asked the Electoral College to defy the will of the people they represented. That, too, didn’t work. The next chapter was the smear that Trump had colluded with the Russians. But the only collusion they could find in their two-year investigation was the Dems’ own payment of millions of dollars for a fake Russian “dossier”

The odds of a young healthy American catching and dying of the COVID virus are roughly 1 in 70,000 and going down. Their odds of dying of sunstroke are ten times greater. Their odds of dying in a car wreck or by suicide are a thousand times greater. So why are many young healthy people afraid of dying of the virus? I have a theory. It’s because fear is pleasurable. Bear with me.

Martha Stewart and Michael Flynn have something in common. Both were nearly ruined for lying to the cops. In Stewart’s case, she was accused of insider trading for accepting the recommendation of her broker to sell some stock. In doing so, she avoided a loss that was paltry by her standards, less than $50,000. She was acquitted on the charge that her stock sale was illegal, but was convicted on charges that she had lied to federal investigators about the circumstances of it. For that, she served time in a federal prison and her media empire was nearly destroyed.

A Marxist is credited with saying “by any means necessary” in a 1960 speech entitled “Why we use violence.” In other words, the reason Marxists use violence is that violence is necessary to accomplish their goals. Later the slogan was commandeered by communist sympathizer Jean-Paul Sartre. He stated, “It is not by refusing to lie that we will abolish lies: it is by eradicating class by any means necessary.” French philosophers always complicate things. This one thought the way to abolish lies was by eradicating class, violently if necessary. Wouldn’t it be better to just tell the truth? Malcolm X later declared

American universities once attracted students from around the world. Prestige places like Harvard and Caltech did so, but it also happened at good state schools like the University of Illinois, University of Texas and even my own alma mater, the University of Colorado. The scientific education was second to none. Even outside of science, a broad-based humanities program thrived. As an engineering student at CU, my required curriculum included two full years of “Great Books” where we studied Socrates, Homer, Virgil, Chaucer and Milton. But then some interrelated things happened.

Jim Jones was a socialist cult leader in the 70’s. Harkening back to Karl Marx, he preached that “those who remain drugged with the opiate of religion have to be brought to enlightenment – socialism.” He hobnobbed with politicians like Walter Mondale, Rosalyn Carter and Jerry Brown. To pursue socialism, he set up a commune in the jungle of a South American banana republic. He was in charge, naturally, and named it “Jonestown.” Assisted by endorsements from his politician friends, he persuaded some 900 American followers to emigrate to there. He imported not just his followers to Jonestown, but also drugs.
