Joe Biden was at a reception for Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist in Golden Beach, Florida, on Tuesday. That followed a nightmare rally with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), which had all kinds of issues–as we reported here and here–in a festival of confusion, including saying his son died in Iraq, forgetting what FEMA stands for, confusing Iraq and Ukraine, and claiming he spoke with the “inventor of insulin.” While there, he also spoke about the attack on Paul Pelosi. Biden lied and claimed that no one in the Republican Party leadership had condemned the attack. That’s just not true; several have, including President Donald Trump (who called it “terrible”), Senate Minority Leader

The author of this opinion piece is an academic from the the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her basic argument is that ironic liberal comedy isn’t as popular as it once was and that’s bad news for reasons she never bothers to explain or justify. But as I hope to show in a moment, even this argument such as it is, seems to ignore a lot of relevant facts in order to reach what feels like a predetermined conclusion.

Laura Dehmlow was involved in conversations between the FBI and Facebook ahead of the social media company’s decision to censor the story surrounding the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop before the 2020 election, the Washington Free Beacon reported. She was later involved in the Biden administration’s efforts to suppress and censor content on social media platforms for misinformation-related purposes, according to The Intercept.

In the digital age, it has become increasingly important for many people around the world to protect their identity online. Considering there are a lot of dangers online and many risks associated with surfing the web, this comes as no surprise. Even though there is no physical interaction, we still want to remain safe and make sure our data is handled responsibly. However, many unfortunate cyber incidents that have happened in the last couple of years proved it is important to have a good understanding of what the internet is and how we can all safely access it.

The resort broke the news at 11:39 a.m. local time Monday, or 11:39 p.m. ET Sunday, that it would immediately shut the main theme park and surrounding areas, including its shopping street, until further notice to comply with virus curbs. All guests were directed to stay inside the park until they returned a negative test for the virus.
“Following the pandemic control measures per government guidelines, Shanghai Disneyland temporarily closed today,” a Disney spokesperson told The Post on Monday. “The COVID testing process was expedited and all guests have exited the park.”

Analysts at the non-partisan Cook Political Report moved the rating for ten congressional districts in favor of the Republican candidates with only a week left before the midterm race.
Cook Political explained that many of the congressional districts President Joe Biden won comfortably during the last presidential election are at risk of being lost because Democrat governors are underperforming. In comparison, Republicans are surging as they focus on high crime and skyrocketing inflation. The report explained that the safest Democrats are in states that do not have competitive statewide races.

The best-selling author passed away at her home in Olivebridge, New York, last Wednesday after going into cardiac arrest, according to the New York Times. She is survived by her husband, brother and parents.
Powell became a literary sensation in 2005 following the release of “Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen” — a humorous account of her attempt to re-create every recipe from Julia Child’s classic cookbook “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.”

Donald Trump has been a consistent target of the left for one silly reason or another — either to thwart his political ambitions or as part of a money grab. Now, Hillary Clinton, who paid for the bogus dossier that was used to justify the Obama administration spying on his campaign, wants some of the action.
Hillary is reportedly demanding that Trump pay roughly $1 million in legal fees following his unsuccessful lawsuit against her for alleged racketeering — which Hillary’s lawyers called a “political stunt.”

I know writing about how Joe Biden gave a speech that was jam-packed with moments where the incoherency was on full-blown display is a bit like writing a “dog bites man” piece. Biden was in Florida to, as CNN reported, rally the Democratic faithful there ahead of Election Day by invoking so-called “mega-MAGA Republicans” as the biggest threat this country has ever faced or whatever. During his speech –

They schools argue their racial discrimination (they refuse to call it that, of course) is just one of many factors they consider in admissions. But the data show it’s by far the most important one. For example, at UNC a white person with a given set of test scores, grade point average and other factors, with 10% chance of getting admitted, would have a 98% chance with the same qualifications if he were black.

At Georgia's final gubernatorial debate, election truther and conspiracy theorist Stacey Abrams -- who appears poised to lose to Gov. After the governor touted his endorsements from more than 100 sheriffs around the state, within the context of a discussion about crime, Abrams retorted that she lacked such support because those officers are motivated by racism. Notice, there is no effort to point to any individual (allegedly) racist sheriff in this answer. Democrats lied about Joe Biden's mental condition, so it is not a surprise that they would lie about Fetterman’s ability to manage a U.S. Senator’s job responsibilities. Thus, Democrats maintained that Fetterman was recovering nicely from his stroke and could be an effective Senator. This falsehood was exposed during the Oz-Fetterman debate

Republican Rep. Lee Zeldin takes the lead in the New York gubernatorial race in his attempt to oust Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, according to a Trafalgar Group poll published late Monday night.
The poll found that of the 1,198 likely general election voters, 48.4 percent would vote for the Zeldin, while 47.6 percent would vote for Hochul. With four percent undecided, Zeldin leads the Democrat incumbent by less than a point and within the margin of error.
The Trafalgar Group poll sampled the 1,198 likely general election voters from October 27 to 31, with a 2.9 percent margin of error and a 95 percent confidence level. The poll’s respondents were 53.6 percent Democrats, 27.5 percent Republican

Okay, let’s admit it. We’re rapidly reaching overkill on stories involving Elon Musk buying Twitter and the resulting liberal dogpanic. Me, I’d rather listen to some music. However, this one is too good to pass up noting. From Bloomberg: Twitter Inc., the social network being overhauled by new owner Elon Musk, has frozen some employee access to internal tools used for content moderation and other policy enforcement, curbing the staff’s ability to clamp down on misinformation ahead of a major US election.
Most people who work in Twitter’s Trust and Safety organization are currently unable to alter or penalize accounts that break rules around misleading information,

Democrats have been trying desperately to come up with a winning narrative to fend off a red wave in the midterm elections next week, but according to the voters, they’ve failed to make the case. According to a new poll from the Trafalgar Group in conjunction with Convention of States Action, two-thirds of voters say Democrats haven’t convinced them to vote Democrat in the midterms, and a majority of voters (over 80%) believe that the Republicans will take over one or both houses of Congress.
Only 34% of Americans think Biden and the Democratic Party leadership have made a convincing argument for why they should vote for Democratic candidates in 2022.

MSNBC’s Joy Reid pushed another conspiracy theory of her own Monday night by suggesting that Republican polling firms were fixing results to favor their political party. "The ReidOut" host attacked polls continuing to suggest that Republican candidates are surging ahead of the midterm elections. In addition to claiming that their results were wrong, she insisted that there were part of an "insidious" plan to affect the media narrative.
"If you get past those headlines and dig a little deeper, you would uncover an insidious and seemingly intentional campaign from Republican-backed polling firms to flood the zone and tip the balance of polling averages in favor of their candidates

After a brief period of time over the summer where Democrats saw a little bit of a bump in their overall polling numbers and a slight momentum shift in their direction in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, their hopes and dreams of a “comeback” of sorts ahead of the crucial midterm elections collided with some brutal reality checks. For starters, President Joe Biden’s approval numbers came crashing down to earth. Independent voters reasserted themselves as well, with Biden hitting new lows among that key voting bloc, with independents also expressing disapproval with his emphasis on abortion over kitchen table issues like inflation and the economy

I’ve been looking for tea leaves to read in connection with the midterm elections next week. The Twitter feed of Interactive Polls links to the Wall Street Journal poll reported here in today’s paper. (The tweet links to an accessible version of the story here.)
The poll was conducted by Republican pollster Tony Fabrizio and Democratic pollster John Anzalone. I trust that when commissioned by the Wall Street Journal, they take their partisan hats off or that the combination of the two does it for them.
The tweet highlights this tea leaf: “The GOP has seen a shift in its favor among several voter groups, including Latino voters and

On Monday’s “CNN Political Briefing” podcast, CNN Political Director David Chalian stated that Democrats who planned “a last-minute strategy shift” to focus on January 6 “due to the concern about the economic headwinds and the fact that they don’t think the stakes of the election have been properly set” are now “seizing on” the attack on House Speaker Rep. In Arizona the race is very tight!
Kelly currently leads Masters in polling data by just a thin margin.
With one week before the midterm elections, Fox News’ Power Rankings put the Arizona Senate race as a toss-up.
The Cook Political Report adjusted its rating in the race from “Lean Democrat” to a toss-up, suggesting the GOP’s chances are improving in a crucial race that could determine which party takes control of the Senate this fall.
The rating change comes “amid a spate of tightening private polling that has left Democrats worried about one of their strongest incumbents,” Cook Political Report analyst Jessica Taylor wrote.

Just a few months after the COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world and prompted governments to impose draconian lockdowns, a group of global elites introduced what is known as the Global Reset.
Championed by the World Economic Forum—host of the posh Davos, Switzerland, meeting for the jet-setting crowd—ideas connected to the Great Reset were embraced by the likes of President Joe Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and King Charles III.
“We need nothing short of a paradigm shift, one that inspires action at revolutionary levels and pace,” then-Prince Charles said in a video launching the project in June 2020.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY is quietly broadening its efforts to curb speech it considers dangerous, an investigation by The Intercept has found. Years of internal DHS memos, emails, and documents — obtained via leaks and an ongoing lawsuit, as well as public documents — illustrate an expansive effort by the agency to influence tech platforms.
The work, much of which remains unknown to the American public, came into clearer view earlier this year when DHS announced a new “Disinformation Governance Board”: a panel designed to police misinformation (false information spread unintentionally), disinformation (false information spread intentionally), and malinformation

The polls and early voting numbers have been looking really good for Republicans in Georgia. Gov. Brian Kemp has an easy path to re-election, and the GOP has momentum in other races — including a surprisingly good chance in a congressional district that hasn’t elected a Republican since 1875.
One of the key races that the nation is watching is the Senate race between incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) and football legend Herschel Walker. Early on in the campaign, Walker earned the label of a “bad candidate,” and his campaign made some missteps early on. He shook up his campaign and started to gain ground.

I spent well over 30 years of my career in higher education, and for most of that time, I enjoyed a good debate with my peers. As a conservative, I was often in the minority, but that didn’t impede mutual respect, nor did it hinder friendships. Political differences were stark, but nearly all of them boiled down to disputes over means and not ends. All of us, for example, agreed that child care was a good thing.

Journalists these days bemoan the adherence to “both sides” reporting. Too often, they say, it misleads readers into thinking there are two legitimate sides.
“I’m convinced that journalists — specifically those who cover politics — must keep a sharp focus on truth-seeking, not old-style performative neutrality,” wrote former Washington Post media columnist Margaret Sullivan.
Because, you see, democracy is at stake.
Sullivan didn’t need to preach this sermon, because the press has already been living by this credo. The problem is that dumping “old-style neutrality” hasn’t made news coverage more accurate, it’s just led the news media even further

There are now no fewer than two–and possibly three–investigations taking place into the attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Officials claim to want to quell the speculation about the attack on Pelosi’s husband, but they could clear a few things up by releasing the actual 9-1-1 call and police body cam video. Instead, local police, Capitol Police, and the FBI say “we’re not revealing any other details at this time.”

However, indicting Trump could have negative consequences for Democrats, some aides suggested.

This is a strange time for conservatives to despair of conservatism. We just won a generational legal victory by overturning Roe v. Wade, and abortion facilities are closing in state after state. Republicans are poised for electoral triumph in the midterms, and the Supreme Court justices who delivered Dobbs are likely to continue rolling back judicial liberalism’s legal abuses.
And yet some on the right are convinced that we are losing, indeed, that we have already lost and therefore need new strategies and labels.

As I noted in an earlier piece, Elon Musk may have taken over Twitter, but the Left is not going to just take this lying down.
Twitter has been a cornerstone of the Left’s strategy to control The Narrative™ and the Left views Musk’s defense of free speech in a digital town square to be something of an existential threat to their monopoly on Truth™. Their power comes from owning not just the commanding heights of our society and economy, but also from owning The Truth™.
The European Union has threatened Musk directly, reminding him that they have laws in Europe that constrain free speech and the regulatory power to enforce them:
