Don’t Give Up On Conservatism

Original Article

This is a strange time for conservatives to despair of conservatism. We just won a generational legal victory by overturning Roe v. Wade, and abortion facilities are closing in state after state. Republicans are poised for electoral triumph in the midterms, and the Supreme Court justices who delivered Dobbs are likely to continue rolling back judicial liberalism’s legal abuses. And yet some on the right are convinced that we are losing, indeed, that we have already lost and therefore need new strategies and labels.

Forgive me for not falling to the feet of everyone with a R after their name. Everyone of us here is old enough to have seen the Republicans promise a return to freedom and prosperity, only to deliver a fat lotta nothing. As often as not they deliver higher taxes, more wars and less freedom. The real difference between them and the communists isn't all that much. Dont listen to what they say, look at what they do and have done.

Conservatives fight from defensive trenches while the libs employ "progressive" wave attacks and bonzai charges. Conservatives do little more than hold ground until they retreat to the next trench after being overrun. Politicians are politicians, and they live on spreading it around. The commie Dems want green energy, the real conservatives want more spent on defense and security, which is largely to finance adventurism abroad...er, I mean defend freedom. The common ground is the ever-higher spending.

The article is about Conservatism, a cultural, social, and political philosophy, although many confuse Conservatives with Establishment Republicans, so they feel justified in blaming Republicans in general for the failures of the Establishment types, aka RINOs. The democrats thank you. Conservatism, as outlined by Reagan and echoed by Bill Buckley and a legion of conservative authors and pundits, holds the Principles of Conservatism include individual freedom, limited government and correspondingly low taxes (supply side economic theory), the rule of law, peace through strength, deregulation, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and human dignity. Reagan also advocated for defense spending to facilitate a strong military, among other core principles. Republicans are more likely to be conservative but obviously not all are; however, throwing the baby out with the bathwater only results in more leftists writing our laws and running our government.

Conservatism never delivered anything but some tax cuts and perpetual warfare. It's a bankrupt ideology.

Jen Psaki is usually wrong, not because she’s stupid, but because she’s an ideologue, a rabid partizan, and statist zealot. And, she seems to savor a well placed lie. But that’s expected from a former White House press secretary, and William and Mary graduate, who spent her entire tenure contorting the borders of reality, gleefully creating fictions to explain Joe Biden’s precipitous decline into senility. Joe Biden has always been a dummy. Obama admitted it when he commented on Lunch Bucket Joes’ propensity to always screw things up. Biden is a comic book character

Long before he assembled one of the largest far-right anti-government militia groups in U.S. history, before his Oath Keepers stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Stewart Rhodes was a promising Yale Law School graduate. He secured a clerkship on the Arizona Supreme Court, in part thanks to his unusual life story: a stint as an Army paratrooper cut short by a training accident, followed by marriage, college and an Ivy League law degree. The clerkship was one more rung up from a hardscrabble beginning. But rather than fitting in, Rhodes came across as angry and aggrieved. He railed to colleagues about how the Patriot Act

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Catie Grusin didn’t know Eliza Fletcher, but she woke up at 3:20 a.m. and put on a pink top before attending a vigil and running event honoring the slain kindergarten teacher who was kidnapped during a pre-dawn jog in Memphis, Tennessee. Thousands of people like Grusin, in cities across the U.S., finished Eliza’s run on Friday morning. Holding a candle in the early-morning Memphis darkness, Grusin gathered with others and sang “This Little Light of Mine” — the tune associated with Fletcher, who softly sang it to her students in a video posted on the internet.

Without bogging us down in too many technical details, suffice it to say that this is a big deal. Or at least it might be at some point. Scientists and engineers have been working on a way to build a workable fusion reactor for decades. A fusion reactor is quite different than the fission nuclear reactors you see around the world today. But there are enormous challenges involved in taking the fusion process from the hypothetical realm and creating a functional reactor capable of producing electricity for our energy grid.

What he's saying: "Not only will I not oppose the release of documents related to the unAmerican, unwarranted, and unnecessary raid … I am going a step further by ENCOURAGING the immediate release of those documents," Trump said.

A massive brawl broke out between up to 20 family members during a funeral for an elderly woman in Richmond on Aug. 6, leading to one injury, one arrest and $20,000 in damage, officials said. The Richmond Police Department said it responded to the Rolling Hills Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. after several reports of a "chaotic altercation" between eight to 20 family members who were reportedly armed. Sgt. Aaron Pomeroy said it was an instance of family drama that started between a brother and a sister who were attending their mother's funeral and who do not get along — and "it goes back many years."

Is there some beef between him and Tucker or does Levin simply find Carlson/Bannon-style nationalism repellent? Not that I blame him.

But I think that she is a tremendous leader," Cheney said at the City Club in Cleveland with PBS’s Judy Woodruff. "I’ve watched her up close. Assume that there’ll be a lot more burglaries, carjackings and robberies. Not to mention public urination. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Police Chief Robert Contee III are pushing back hard on parts of the plan they don’t agree with, and say the council is rushing to beat an arbitrary deadline.

His riffs on the campaign trail would be amusing if they weren’t so predictable and stale. Democrats are facing a big ole red wave next week and they are running scared. That includes the head of the party, Joe Biden, who is claiming that the midterm elections aren’t a referendum, they are a choice. Unfortunately for Biden, that’s not the truth. Midterm elections are always a referendum on the party in control and this one is no different.
