MSNBC’s Joy Reid pushed another conspiracy theory of her own Monday night by suggesting that Republican polling firms were fixing results to favor their political party. "The ReidOut" host attacked polls continuing to suggest that Republican candidates are surging ahead of the midterm elections. In addition to claiming that their results were wrong, she insisted that there were part of an "insidious" plan to affect the media narrative. "If you get past those headlines and dig a little deeper, you would uncover an insidious and seemingly intentional campaign from Republican-backed polling firms to flood the zone and tip the balance of polling averages in favor of their candidates

As of next Tuesday, will joyless become an election denier? What will she say when the election confirms the polls? Radical leftists like Reid have gone ALL IN on the election because they have so much to lose and things look so bad for the dems. The problem is, that gives them no place to retreat to. They can continue to whine and blame but that gets them nothing. They are not going to win friends and influence people when everyone realizes they don't know what they are talking about.

Biden’s Energy ‘Windfall’ Tax Is
Election Theater For Economic Illiterates

President Joe Biden has accused oil companies of “war profiteering” and is threatening to impose a windfall tax if they fail to boost domestic production — and improve the Democrats’ fortunes in the 2022 midterms. It is ugly political theater. Demanding private entities act on behalf of the party or face punishment from the state, as the president might say, is semi-fascisty behavior. Other than appealing to the anger and frustrations of economic illiterates, windfall taxes (a tax on allegedly excessive, or unfairly obtained, profits) make zero sense. They neither bring down the price of energy nor increase supply. All windfall taxes do is disincentivize oil producers

Memories are shaky things. Maybe you remember a family trip to the beach or learning to swim as a child. But could you name the exact date, or even the year, these events happened? Without the help of a daily diary, it’s nothing more than guesswork. The same problem applies to cultural memories and history. And the further back in time you go, the more difficult it is to know when (or if) something actually happened. The Iron Age Levant, which occurred 1200-500 B.C., is one example of a historical period of particularly murky chronology. It’s a time when many of the cultural histories of the Near East, North Africa and

Donald Trump may have owned “You’re Fired!” but Elon Musk is teaching America what it means. The GOP should pay attention. Musk’s greatest undertaking as the new “Chief Twit” involves deploying new business models that enhance corporate value, but his most visible challenge is changing the culture of this large organization without interrupting its business. That’s a notoriously difficult task. It’s a task at which President Trump failed. Trump often complained about the politicization and corruption of federal agencies – comprised largely of his own executive branch employees – but he had zero perceptible impact on the culture of the federal bureaucracy. Democracy is under threat — the wrong candidates could win more votes than their opponents in hotly contested free and fair elections. That’s the worry of progressives insisting “Democracy is on the ballot” in the midterms. This trope, repeated endlessly on the center-left, is offered as a reason voters of conscience should cast aside their other concerns and vote Democrat up and down the ballot. If this argument seems a touch self-serving — indeed functionally indistinguishable from run-of-the-mill partisan salesmanship — it’s because it is. As it happens, there is nothing in the actual behavior of Democrats to suggest that they take their own rhetoric seriously

Is recent Virginia history repeating itself in New York? Will a Republican candidate for governor win an upset victory because the favored Democrat reveals a breathtaking nonchalance toward the issue voters care about most? Gov. Kathy Hochul may have just gifted deep blue New York to her challenger Rep. Lee Zeldin by displaying glaring indifference about the state’s soaring crime rate. It didn’t have to be this bad. History isn’t on President Joe Biden’s side heading into the 2022 midterms. The president’s party averages a loss of 28 House seats and four Senate seats in midterm elections. The present isn’t being kind to Joe Biden either. Inflation is out of control. Gas prices are sky-high from coast to coast. Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee are demanding that the Biden administration preserve documents related to the ongoing crisis at the southern border -- as Republicans lay the groundwork for investigations and hearings on the matter in the next Congress. "Committee Republicans intend to continue our oversight of the causes and consequences of the unprecedented Biden border crisis into the 118th Congress,"

On October 20, Barbaro brought on Times polling analyst Nate Cohn to discuss how the latest Times/Siena College poll contained ominous news for Democrats. The show began as a straightforward analysis of how Democrats grew optimistic about maintaining their control of Congress because the top issues were abortion, gun violence, and the January 6 Committee (aka “democracy”).
