Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts granted a stay, temporarily blocking former President Trump from having to turn over his tax records to Democrats on the House Ways and Means Committee.
Trump and his legal team on Monday filed asking the Supreme Court to block the release of his tax records.
The House Ways and Means Committee first requested six years of Trump's tax returns in 2019. "Upon consideration of the application of counsel for the applicants, it is so ordered that the mandate of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, case No. 21-5289, is hereby stayed

Why do they need his records? If the IRS had found anything shady, it would have long since been trumpeted to the heavens 24/7/365.

If there were any issues involving tax strategies or principles in Trump's tax returns, those could be discussed with the Committee, without any revelation of the taxpayer. If the IRS has an issue with a taxpayer, they can do an audit, and in Trump's case, Trump has said they audit him every year. The Committee has no right to see individual tax returns, which the IRS assures the taxpayer are kept confidential, information released to the public only in aggregates.

The solution here is pretty simple. Time is not on the Democrats' side. The Chief can defer the matter until the January calendar, by which time the new Congress will need to renew the subpoena.

The same should be true for all of the “requests” from “Tish” James, who will, by the Grace of God, be defeated next Tuesday.

The returns are none of the House's business, but which returns, Mr Trump's personal returns or the Trump Organization's returns?
I don't know how anyone in the House could make sense out of the Trump Organization's returns which must be massively complicated and I don't know what they think they can gain with President Trump's personal returns other than he drew a salary, So....?

Thank you #3. Exactly what I was going to say. The IRS audits Trump’s taxes every year. If there were any and I mean any problems with his taxes they would call him on it. So then, what is the purpose of releasing his taxes other than for political gain?

House democrats won't be demanding anything in a very short time but the Trump witch hunt will never come to an end as long as he can run in 2024. MAGA

IRS Revenue Manuals, Part 4, Chapter 8, Section 4, Paragraph 4.8.4.2.4 (March 12, 2015) states that the President’s and Vice President’s tax returns are subject to mandatory review, but goes on to state that the review will be closed directly to the “employee audit reviewer.” It also states that the returns shall not be exposed to viewing by other employees and provides guidance on how the returns are to be secured.
I am not a lawyer or a CPA, so someone may point out where I am wrong. As far as I can tell, the House Committee may audit the IRS Presidential audit program as part of their oversight responsibilities to ensure that these audits take place. It does not; however, grant the House Ways and Means Committee access to the President’s individual tax returns as suggested by Congressman Neal, D-Mass.

Why should anyone turn his tax returns over to his enemy...the democrats are fishing for something ...anything they can to indict President Trump on...it's a prelude to their stopping President Trump from running in 2024...very interesting...so the democrats with their henchmen the FBI didn't find any tax records at Mar A Lago when they broke into the Trump family home...only underwear and game boys and golf balls and family portraits and private letters from a deceased ex-wife....it must keep the Dems up at night...

A Leftist would argue that Trump's battle to keep his tax documents out of Congress's hands only goes to show he has something to hide.
To which I would say, "Okay, yeah. Maybe. Who cares? I vote for policy positions these days. Not whether or not you've lived your life as Dudley Do Right.
But I would then ask, is not the effort of every Board of Elections under investigation over irregularities in the 2020 election to fight the investigations in court also an admission they have something to hide?
Shouldn't the default position of a Board of Election be, "Sure, here you go. Here's all the paperwork. Here's our emails. Here's the voting machines. Investigate all you want. We are legit."
But the Maricopa County Board of Elections did NOT respond that way.
