No such thing as a ‘Christian Democrat’

I spent well over 30 years of my career in higher education, and for most of that time, I enjoyed a good debate with my peers. As a conservative, I was often in the minority, but that didn’t impede mutual respect, nor did it hinder friendships. Political differences were stark, but nearly all of them boiled down to disputes over means and not ends. All of us, for example, agreed that child care was a good thing.

There are plenty of Democrat Roman Catholics. Now to say they may not be Christian is something else.

#2, the way I have always described it: Christianity and liberalism are mutually exclusive.
We have a woman in our parish who plays the organ at Saturday Mass and is also pro abortion. "Democrat Roman Catholic".

I work with a woman who is always talking church-speak. I happened to be in the office the day R v. W was overturned. She and another one like her were aghast at what just happened. She was also the first in line to wash feet at a BLM event held right after the George Floyd incident. Guess discernment isn’t her spiritual gift, but white guilt is. I don’t know how people can be so blind.

Infiltrating schools and churches was a goal of socialists way back in 1910. I was surprised when I found out that Cal Berkley had a seminary. I learned this because one of the ministers at the church graduated from Cal and was in charge of the youth group. All during the sixties, the first riots on college campuses seemed to start at Cal Berkley.

Gee, I’ve been saying that for at least 30 years. If one votes democrat, one votes for abortion on demand. One cannot be pro-abortion and a Christian. A “pro-choice Christian” is an oxymoron.

One word for your consideration...."infiltration".
It happens in every aspect of our society...education, government, business, religion...
It definitely happened in the Trump white house.

For the most part, the article nails it. However, many black Democrats are Christians, whites, not so much. This could be why so many blacks will be voting Republican, many for the first time; the Christian life permeates all facets of that life, including voting against decidedly anti-Christian, anti-life candidates.
The time will soon come when all candidates will have to say whether they believe in God or not. Unfortunately, this is the case because of the politicization of what one does in one's private life.

My eyes were opened 52 years ago when my good friend and Christian mentor asked me why I called myself a democrat if I confessed a faith in God. Even back then, democrats were moving in an ungodly way.

Catholic priest was cancelled by his bishop for proclaiming that you can’t be Catholic and vote Democrat.
Evil has infiltrated every element of our society. But it appears that people are starting to wake up and take action.

Had my eyes opened my senior year in HS on how much of a Cafeteria Catholic I had become when I started dating a Methodist girl whose Dad was her church's organist. I began attending her church (because of her) but I also started appreciating how Methodists relied on the Bible so much more than Catholics. I broke up with my girlfriend the latter part of my sophomore year in college and in my Biblical journey I eventually found and began attending the Church of Christ (similar to Southern Baptists except Church of Christ followers traditionally don't use musical instruments since these aren't mentioned in the New Testament. For the record I don't have problems w musical instruments used during worship.)
The Church of Christ and my Bible provide me with all the scriptural guidance I need - and I feel blessed

Scripture reveals 13 times in the Gospels Jesus said, “follow me.” If a person of faith professes to follow Jesus, it would seem such “following” would adhere to His teachings and to all teachings of Scripture, including the Ten Commandments which includes, “Thou shalt not murder.” In Matthew 12:30, Jesus said, “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” When choosing a candidate to vote for, the decision essentially says that is the candidate representing the values, including morality, of the individual casting the vote; it is saying the voter believes in, trusts, and approves of the chosen candidate to “speak for him/her” when casting votes that will impact the lives of all Americans regardless of race, religion or creed. The stark reality is, a person of faith casting a vote for a Democrat is approving of abortion as legislated predominantly by Democrats—a vote approving of murdering babies in the womb.
While one’s nomenclature may seem inconsequential, the declaration of one’s faith is consequential and, in that perspective, to profess to be a believer, a Christian (Catholic or Protestant), identifying as a Democrat, and voting for Democrats is, as aptly stated by #7, “an oxymoron.” Whom to follow? The teachings and wisdom of Scripture or the follies of man? For a true believer, there is only One to follow.

Belonging to a church doesn't make you a Christian. Even attending church doesn't. A true Christian has a relationship with Christ and strives to be like Him, and serving Him. Anyone supporting the Democrat platform cannot be serving Christ.

Many Christians have convinced themselves that they can do whatever they want as long as they are a "good person". They overlook the fact that to love God is to obey Him. The devil's greatest accomplishment is that he has convinced millions that he does not exist.
