The author of this opinion piece is an academic from the the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her basic argument is that ironic liberal comedy isnât as popular as it once was and thatâs bad news for reasons she never bothers to explain or justify. But as I hope to show in a moment, even this argument such as it is, seems to ignore a lot of relevant facts in order to reach what feels like a predetermined conclusion.
Trevor Noah recently surprised fans (and, according to some accounts, also Comedy Central management) when he announced plans to leave âThe Daily Show.â His departure is one of many

"Liberal comedy" is an oxymoron. All snark, bitterness and attack.

Lie-berals are physically incapable of being "funny". It's just not possible.
With their air of being so superior to us mere mortals, they can only lord it over us and preach their "woke" and evil philosophies -- all based on "feelings" since lie-berals are physically incapable of understanding logic, reason, or facts, based on their very limited number of working brain cells!!!
I personally have never found any lie-beral comedy to be the least bit funny. Evil, preachy, "woke", bizarre, illogical -- yes. Funny -- never!!!

The best late night host of all time was Johnny Carson and he was an equal opportunity jokester, having watched him for years I'm still not sure If he voted D or R. He would have on well known Republicans like Bob Hope and liberals like Martin Sheen. I think the current late night hosts could learn a lot from Mr. Carson.

Who says liberal comedy is not what it used to be? Everytime a liberal calls me a "racist" all the other liberals bust out laughing. Yeah, RACIST... that's a good one. Now that's funny.

Liberal comedy is what it always has been. Rotting garbage.

They have destroyed their own business by being nasty, by lying, and by being just plain objectionable. When the old comics did politics, everyone laughed â both sides of the aisle. The days where Democrats and Republicans could find common ground in laughter is over. Comics just havenât figured that out yet. Political partisanship has destroyed comedy.

Shotly after Barack became President in early 2009, I was watching Jay Leno, and Leno made a tiny joke about Barack being new to the job - the kind of gentle poliitical joke that was standard fare for late night comedy, and Leno's audience booed him. It was a nasty sound, and he got the message.
I consider that to be the turning point in late night comedy.

This is way Bill Burr is so popular amongst almost every demographic. He's a liberal from Boston, drives a Prius, and is married to a black woman, but nails every woke stereotype using their own words and common sense. He basically tells it like it is. Check out some of his bits on You Tube.

The liberal left as a whole is filled with very sad people that have no sense of humor. A good laugh from time to time is good for the soul.

It all began when Obama got elected in 2008. The Left took it as a symbol that their Jihad on America had reached critical mass and was unstoppable. They started saying out loud what they had always been thinking.
The problems with all Leftist "humor" -- it's built on a house of cards of false premises, unearned sanctimony, and the irrational belief that the other side has nothing to say worth listening to. In contrast, great humor is based on truth and acknowledgment of our own failings.

The left censored everything, sterilized the topics to the point of off limit. The wrong word used will get you booed off a stage. The monster the left created with their non-humor is eating them. All of the names touted as leftist comedians were never funny to me including Jon Stewart. I tried to listen to this Trevor Noah character that left me scratching my head in wonder, telling myself this isn't humor. Kimmel is unwatchable with his rants on politics I don't tune in I just see short videos on YouTube.
