The White House is preparing for Janet Yellen to leave her post as Treasury Secretary as soon as November as Americans rank the economy as one of their biggest concerns with just weeks until Election Day.
Her potential departure is in the early stages and would come after the 2022 midterms, people familiar with the matter told Axios, and no decision has been made on a replacement. A Polish politician suggested the United States was behind the sabotage of two Nord Stream pipelines linking Russia to Germany.

Pro-life activist Mark Houck pleaded not guilty to two counts of violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act Tuesday, appearing in court for the first time since FBI agents descended on his home and allegedly took him away in front of his “screaming” children.
Houck was taken into custody Friday morning for alleged violations of the FACE Act, stemming from an incident in October 2021, when he pushed a pro-abortion activist outside of an abortion clinic. A new audit from the Treasury Inspector General found the error between July and December of 2021, during the period President Joe Biden expanded the child tax credit to include monthly payments rather than the typical annual refund.

This study was conducted from February to October 2020 (more on that in a moment), and included only 11 lactating women, 5 of whom received the Moderna vaccine and 6 of whom received the Pfizer vaccine. A man casually carrying a shotgun and claiming to be from Chicago walked into a Florida convenience store during an attempted robbery but got a huge surprise when the clerk displayed his own weapon, authorities said.
Rakim Stephen Tate, 32, made a bad decision that "became a worse decision" when he walked into a convenience store on Sept. 9 with a visible shotgun to his side, the Escambia County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

Hurricane Ian is expected to hit Florida's west coast late Wednesday as a Category 3 storm, officials said.

Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich has written a scathing letter to the Washington Department of Transportation about the agency's failure to clear a homeless camp from being established on its local property.
“Consider this letter notice to WSDOT that I plan to clear this camp by mid-October,” he wrote. “WSDOT's dereliction of their duties to address this matter must not continue.”
