The Biden administration is laying out its plan to meet an ambitious goal of ending hunger in the U.S. by 2030, including expanding monthly benefits that help low-income Americans buy food. The administration, in a plan released Tuesday, is also seeking to increase healthy eating and physical activity so that fewer people are afflicted with diabetes, obesity, hypertension and other diet-related diseases. It said it would work to expand Medicaid and Medicare access to obesity counseling and nutrition.(Snip)Biden is hosting a conference this week on hunger, nutrition and health, the first by the White House since 1969. That conference, under President Richard Nixon, was a pivotal moment

Also, President Trump proposed an America's Food Basket program that would reduce the widely abused food stamps and instead distribute healthy meat and produce sourced from American farmers. The Republicans howled in pain because Big Snack and Big Fast Food rely on EBT benefit customers, and the proposal was dead in the water.

There is precious little evidence that anyone in the US is underfed. We have a surplus of every food item you care to mention.
There! Another problem solved!!

Ronald Reagan noted that:
“If you want more of something, have government subsidize it”
………. and our government has been subsidizing indolence, irresponsible procreation, fatherlessness & sloth for well over half a century now…. and it shows.
LBJ’s ‘Great Society’ / ‘War on Poverty’ garbage was the worst mistake Western Civilization ever made and this illegitimate dullard in the White House is doubling down on it.

It's not hard to end world hunger. Find some way to wipe out half the worlds population and magically there's enough food for the those that remain. Now let me see what kind of pandemic we can come up with to make that happen. Oh wait! Bio-warfare! Problem solved! ;-)

If he wants to end obesity he should stop EBT immediately. Have you ever noticed how many obese people use EBT cards? Just saying.

Government = Control.
And Americans have given it to them over the years hand-over-fist. This is another example. I'm no fan of giveaways, and this is just another "helpful" intervention to make Americans conform to their government's model. No different than mask-wearing or vaccination edicts. How'd you like those? Same exact difference. I've got ideas of how I could make YOUR life better by conforming to MY way of thinking...ready for them?

Why does the government have to spend money for something like this? Why does government have to be involved at all?

Nobody goes hungry in this country that doesn't choose to do so. Lots of organizations handing out food on top of way, way too generous welfare and food stamps, both massively abused by lazy and able bodied people by the millions.

There is just about nobody today in the USA, except some elderly folks on social security, who are under fed. Just about all low income people are enrolled in the ETB food stamp program and their children who attend school these days have access to “free” US Government meals, breakfast, lunch, and dinner at school. That goes on even when schools are not in session. Some of the ETB food stamp proceeds are being fraudulently sold to others at 50 cents per dollar value especially in ethnic and racial minority “communities” and through small food retail outlets. Instead of handing out more money, Biden and the US Government should be knocking out all the food stamp fraud that has been going on from the get-go along with prohibiting junk food and fast food from being included in the food stuffs that can be legally purchased through ETB food stamp allotments.

"1 in 5 American children face hunger". they don't define: "face"... Notice they never say "are hungry". We have overlapping layers of safety net, and we should be proud of that. We do have some abusive parents that should be in jail for neglecting to feed their children from all the options available. And some of them are busy laundering the food stamp money for drugs at pennies on the dollar. Odd, we can't stop that.

This is scary stuff and lots of scary comments. Believe it or not, everyone is not created equally. Every single body is different. Do any of you seriously want the government to be in a position to tell you what you can eat and what you can't? Or how about how many steps you legally must take in one day to satisfy government guidelines? As for overweight EBT users, the good stuff to eat is way more expensive than potatoes, rice, pasta. Some of us are crippled by arthritis. No running up and down stairs for us. Some have intestinal issues that have destroyed certain anatomical parts. So before you all decide you know whats best for everyone in the country, get better educated on those who aren't you.

This is so easy to predict. All of the obese will take the “benefits” and none of them will exercise or make any attempt to exercise. This has been going on for decades.

Once again, actions speak louder than words. Who gets priority for resources tells us all we need to know.
If you're a US president worried about American families having enough to eat, you make meeting their needs your FIRST priority. You do not, on your first day in office, invite illegal aliens from around the world to flood the United States. Over two million of Biden's "invitees" have come to the US illegally since he took office, and there's no sign he or the Democrats care at all about American citizens who are supposedly hungry NOW. They're supposed to wait until 2030. Yet this administration figured out how to hoard pallets of baby formula to meet the needs of illegal alien families months ago. Last I heard, the formula remains in short supply, at least to American parents.

Biden to mandate that fat people be fired from their jobs, unless they bring their weight within HHS guidelines. The food fat people now eat will be confiscated and given to hungry people. Enforcement is to be done with all government agencies, in collaboration with woke businesses, and Big Tech, and under emergency protocol. Fat people could be arrested, their phones seized, and their bank accounts frozen.

It grates on my last good nerve to get behind an ebt customer buying 5 big packs of sodas, snack cakes and frozen pizzas. The elderly here on eat get about $20/month to spend on food. Just wrong.

Walmart's profits are sagging, so in comes Uncle Sugar to save the day. Note that the federal government already controls the food intake of welfare-Americans through the EBT food stamp program; with the flip of a switch all soda, junk food, etc could be removed from the program.
