Natural-gas is erupting like geysers on the surface of the Baltic Sea above the damaged Nord Stream pipelines, images from the Danish military show. Danish Defence on Tuesday released a video taken from a helicopter showing the extent of the disturbances caused by the leaking pipelines, which European officials believe have been sabotaged. (Tweet) The largest disturbance on the surface is spread across more than 1,000 metres, while the smallest is about 200 metres, Danish Defence said. The Nord Stream 1 and Nord Steam 2 systems were designed to transport natural-gas from Russia to Europe. Each system comprises two pipelines

Trump to Europe: don't rely on Russia for fuel
Europe to Russia: guffaw, snort, laugh, roll eyes
Trump today: I hate to say I told you so, but.....

This is what happens to a pipeline when it’s not used - it breaks down. In a year, this thing will be useless. The Russkies have shot themselves in the foot!

They THINK this is sabotage? The article seems to say there are multiple such leaks. I could believe that one pipeline could break but no way in Hades are there more than one except through deliberate and targeted damage. My first guess would be Russians but this is also something that Greenies might do.

With no apologies to Governor Brylcreem, THIS is sobering. Closing the valve at the source is one thing but this shows just how fragile the European energy infrastructure truly is - sabotage or not.

I wonder if valving off the gas put pressure surges through the lines? That would be a "pressure test" and would find weak spots.
I'm not sure who benefits from sabotage. The Russians would like the line intact and the Europeans would like the option at some point to resume it.
Looks like options are shrinking.

And just who, may one ask, has the capability to damage an undersea pipeline...just asking for a friend...

Undersea pipelines have to maintain internal pressure to offset external pressures from the weight of the sea. Shutting down the pipeline would weaken it. Pipelines should be managed by professionals, not politicians, like economies, and medical care.

Not Putin. Zelensky.

I saw a video of sh*tshow joe saying they could make sure it’s turned off if he wanted it turned off. It was on Twitter and the only attribution was abc news. Sorry. It looked like a press conference.

Sorry for the double post. The video is from February. If this wasn’t happening today I’d say it was just false posturing by the idiot in charge.

I don't understand why Russia would damage this pipeline. I thought they were the supply-end of it. All they had to do was... not supply it, right? They don't need to physically damage it. In fact, when the Ukraine conflict is ultimately resolved, as it will be, they'd want that pipeline running. Unless I'm completely missing something, which is entirely likely, I don't see how Russia could benefit from destroying that pipeline.

Separate report shows seismic stations Sweden, Norway and Finland registered two explosions Monday near the leaks, widely separated, and whose signatures were not earthquakes, but were explosions.

Get John Francoise Kerry and Al Gore on it. They worry about methane gas from cow farts--how much environmental damage will be inflicted upon the planet's air by massive releases of natural gas?

Some sources report that it was almost certainly sabotage by the Ruskies.
