If Republicans Want to Win, Commit

Original Article

This past Friday, Kevin McCarthy and other GOP U.S. House leaders unveiled the long-awaited “Republican Commitment to America.” It didn’t disappoint. The plan was fittingly announced in Washington, Pennsylvania, not Washington, D.C. It addresses the mounting concerns of America’s hard-pressed majority: the working- and middle-classes. That’s most of us -- whatever race, color, or creed. We’re daily struggling under the spreading policy and governance failures of our shady, witless president, Joe Biden, and congressional Democrats. Let’s not leave out Joe’s handlers and department and agency chiefs for ample rations of blame. The Commitment was modeled after Newt Gingrich’s uber-successful 1994 “Contract with America.”

I want a real fighting spirit. I've had enough of the spineless whining apparatchiks, perennially elected, making their huffing and puffing speeches, all, as the Bard said, "full of sound and fury signifying nothing." Where are the condemnations of Biden, et al, defaming Republicans in general and Trump voters especially? Where are the return volleys when Dem/Lefties accuse us as NAZIs or racists, when their Party's history is despicable and the real fascist and racist history. They need to stop tiptoeing around and just tell the truth.

Has anyone bothered to read it? I haven't. The Gingrich "Contract With America" was innovative politics. Everyone today knows the Republican's "Commitment to America" is just warmed-over thirty-year-old hash. Kevin McCarthy hasn't had an original idea since he first pulled his grandpa's finger. I'm also put off by the words chosen. A "contract with" someone is different than a "commitment to" someone. When two parties enter into a contract it implies there are legal mechanisms that insure the promises will be kept; and if not, the party failing to fulfill the promises will be removed from office. When two parties make a commitment to each other it is based on trust, such as the commitment to be friends; if one party betrays that trust there is no mechanism to right the wrong. The betrayer walks away; too bad, so sad. To me that is what the RINO/Uniparty "Republican Commitment to America” is saying by its title. We're your friends. Trust us again. This time we really mean it. [expletives deleted]

Trusting McCarthy at this point is foolish. I have seen him in interviews regarding this plan. He was down right creepy. That soft voice and forced sincerity said more than his words. The man is driven by power. The Speaker’s seat is so close and he wants that more than anything. He may appear to be spit shined and sincere but this guy is a consummate political animal. He is all in for Kevin. He and McConnell are the source of many serious problems in the Republican Party. They are untrustworthy and cannot articulate an appropriate response to the Biden cabal’s lawlessness. Both men are frauds. What motivates them is power and neither expects to relinquish it anytime soon. They actively work against conservative voices because they threaten their power. Kevin can take his commitment and shove it. If he really wanted the things he says he does, he would have been out there opposing the nightmare Biden has created from the beginning. He did nigh to nothing and now comes out with this idea a few weeks before the election? Give me a break!

The Biden administration has quietly announced a change in their student debt forgiveness program that could exclude four million borrowers who have loans owned or backed by private companies The u-turn by the federal government comes after the first legal challenges were filed and following criticism of the huge costs to taxpayers and claims the plan is an illegal use of his executive power. The Education Department announced Thursday that privately-held federal loans won't qualify for the relief plan, which the Congressional Budget Office said earlier this week could cost $400billion over a decade.

President Joe Biden called for the late Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) to appear during a live event on hunger and nutrition Wednesday. Walorski was killed in a car accident last month, and Biden had previously called her family to offer condolences. Though the White House attempted to spin his faux pas as a mere sign that Walorski was “top of mind,” describing it as the kind of mistake that anyone could make, the embarrassing error was the latest evidence that Biden may not be mentally competent to hold the office of president. And yet there is no talk about removing him from office, using the 25th Amendment

The monster tempest is expected to recharge from a tropical storm back into a Category 1 hurricane as it angles northwards towards the top of the Sunshine State, the south of Georgia and South Carolina. On Wednesday, New York released state tests scores and parents finally got confirmation about the devastating learning loss so many of us saw first-hand during extended school lockdowns. The most reliable academic indicator for students in third to eighth grade — math scores — plummeted across all grades. The slow progress made pre-pandemic was eviscerated. Students in every year tested lost ground, and the largest drop was among eighth graders heading to high school, who saw 11% fewer students proficient in math. President Biden once again shirked any responsibility for skyrocketing gas prices and instead demanded that gas stations cut prices at the pump for drivers despite their costs to stay in business being dictated by the market. Taxation and crushing regulation as well as progressive policies have a lot to do with it. It’s almost as if Biden and the left want to drive gas stations out of business.
