On July 5, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the No Patient Left Alone Act to right some of the most egregious wrongs of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, hospitals nationwide denied patients visitation, even at the end of their lives. Nursing homes and other long-term care facilities did the same. Closing healthcare facilities to visitation from family is no longer legal in Florida. During the announcement, DeSantis explained, “It [the law] increases patient protections and ensures Florida families have a fundamental right to visit their loved ones receiving care in Florida hospitals, hospices, and long-term care facilities.” It also prevents the facilities from requiring that family members receive

The whole idea of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which is owned by the U.S. government, specifically the U.S. Department of Energy, is to hold on to about 700 million barrels of oil in the event of an emergency or disruption.
But now, because His Fraudulency Joe Biden has closed pipelines, killed oil and gas leases, refused to allow refining to expand, and has gone to war with affordable energy; the SPR is releasing about a million gallons a day into the U.S. economy.

The number of red flags that have been raised about Robert Crimo III is staggering. Again, this was another preventable tragedy. Crimo went to a rooftop and opened fire on a crowd in Highland Park, Illinois who were there attending an Independence Day event. Seven people were killed with at least another 45 wounded. Crimo was apprehended by police Monday evening, but as with other mass shooters—the number of red flags could stuff the trunk of a car. Have you been meaning to plan a trip to Paris? Have you dreamed of having a croissant and some tea on the Left Bank, visiting the Louvre, and checking out the Mona Lisa? Have you thought about stopping by to see how those repairs to the Cathedral of Notre Dame are coming along? Well, if you’re intent on also admiring the Eiffel Tower you had better book that trip soon. And when you’re there, maybe you can suggest that some of those repair crews at the Notre Dame pack their tools and head west on the Rue de Babylone so they can start repairing the Eiffel Tower.

If you dare to speak out against transgender ideology, you’ll likely find yourself censored from social media and ostracized by your woke friends. The far left has highly politicized the issue of transgenderism, using its influence in pop culture and government to brainwash the public, particularly children, and force them into compliance with bully tactics.
So when someone on the left dares to speak out, it’s noteworthy. Why? Because they know the risks of doing so and have decided the truth is more important. As such, I applaud Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray for having the courage to speak the truth during her recent interview with Piers Morgan.

Recently, in the wake of the Roe v. Wade controversy, my wife Janice Fiamengo published an article for PJ Media asserting that abortion-on-demand is by no means a question of male compulsion but involves the responsibility of the woman herself as a person who possesses individual agency, who can choose whether or not to abort her unborn. A woman is not the helpless victim of ostensive patriarchal domination but a free and responsible agent who can determine her own actions rather than malinger as a servile casualty of male oppression. To think otherwise is merely demeaning, a way of infantilizing and

The number of flight cancellations over the last six months has already surpassed last year’s totals, positioning 2022 to become one of the worst years on record.
Thousands of flights were canceled in the days leading up to the Fourth of July holiday weekend, with airlines reporting 121,918 cancellations between Jan. 1 and the end of June — compared to 121,552 for all of 2021, according to data from FlightAware. A large portion of those was canceled over the last month, with more flights being canceled in June 2022 than any June in previous years.

The nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve was created in 1975 after the Arab oil embargo caused fear and angry gas-station lines across the country. The underground reservoirs, believed to be the world’s largest, were intended as an emergency oil-savings account for an actual energy crisis threatening national security.
The SPR was not intended for a political crisis when Joe Biden’s Democrats face midterm election annihilation over inflation and outrageous gasoline prices above $6 a gallon caused by the same president’s ideological war on fossil fuels.
Biden’s announced “plan,” which drew considerable criticism, is to draw down a million barrels a day

Gov. Andy Beshear's office reversed course Tuesday and turned over a June 23 White House email that confirms President Joe Biden intended to nominate an anti-abortion Republican to a lifetime appointment as a federal district judge in Kentucky. (Snip) [Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Louisville] and other officials have told The Courier Journal they believe Biden agreed to appoint Meredith, a Federalist Society attorney who has fought against abortion rights, so that McConnell would not hold up future White House nominations.

There was a time when the idea of someone with a room temperature IQ running for president of the United States was laughable, the plot of some awful movie. Since Joe Biden, all bets are off. For Democrats, having an IQ larger than your waistline is an obstacle, making it difficult to advocate for policies that have failed everywhere they've been tried with a straight face. Luckily for them, there aren't many Democrats who have a double-digit IQ, so it's not much of an issue, and their Queen is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Kamala Harris on Tuesday made a ‘surprise’ visit to the scene of the Highland Park, Illinois mass shooting.
22-year-old Bobby Crimo shot 30 people, 7 fatally, at a Highland Park Fourth of July parade on Monday.
Crimo was known to law enforcement before Monday’s mass shooting.
The police were at Crimo’s residence twice – once for a suicide attempt and once to remove knives because of a murder threat to his family.

Few noticed or cared when U.S. education secretary Miguel Cardona announced on June 14 the launch of the National Parents and Families Engagement Council (NPFEC). The NPFEC “…will serve as an important link between families and caregivers, education advocates and their school communities. The Council will help foster a collaborative environment where we can work together to serve the best interest of students and ensure they have the academic and mental health support they need to recover from the pandemic and thrive in the future.”

Republican Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan ordered the suspension of the state’s “good and substantial reason” to apply for Wear and Carry permits Tuesday.
The Supreme Court struck down a New York state law requiring “proper cause” for a citizen to obtain a concealed carry permit for handguns June 23. Justice Clarence Thomas, who wrote the majority opinion, said New York’s “proper cause” requirement violated the Fourteenth Amendment by preventing its citizens from practicing their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

Five years ago, Rep. Mo Brooks saw a unique opportunity to become a U.S. senator. Jeff Sessions had just left Capitol Hill to become the attorney general, and the Alabama congressman was ready for a promotion. He even thought he could receive support from Donald Trump — the incumbent president to whom Brooks had offered unconditional support.
That didn’t work out. In the 2017 special election, Trump brushed off the Republican lawmaker and threw his support behind Luther Strange, who ended up losing to Roy Moore in a GOP primary.

With the inexorable march of time, Hillary Clinton’s cheekiness has been matched by a set of sagging jowls that seem to vibrate with anticipation at being back in the political fold. While some might say she turns up like the proverbial bad penny, Ms. Clinton clearly sees herself as coin of the realm.
Hillary requires no lectures from the likes of former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel on how never to let a crisis go to waste. As a perennial Queen of Crises s, she understands that the deeper a country is plunged into chaos and the wider the ideological rift between its people, the more malleable

For many readers, the above title will conjure up memories of the 2008 housing crash caused by the proliferation of subprime mortgages and the subsequent tsunami of defaults. But a better corollary for the coming Biden bust is the Carter crash that occurred three decades earlier. During the final two years of Carter’s term, sales of existing and new homes collapsed because the Fed was forced to raise interest rates sharply to get double-digit inflation under control. This, in turn, produced double-digit mortgage rates that priced millions of potential buyers out of the market.

World-famous industrialist billionaire and possible future owner of Twitter Elon Musk slammed the platform's current leadership with a humorous tweet on July 4 then agreed with another user bemoaning Jordan Peterson's suspension by saying the company's "going way too far in squashing dissenting opinions." Musk appeared to get into the spirit of Independence Day by sharing a fake Tweet depicting "Twitter in 1775" where iconic American historical figure Paul Revere was fact-checked by Twitter for saying, "The British are coming, the British are coming!" The fake tweet depicted a misinformation label reading, "Learn how British taxes are beneficial for society."

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Tuesday he had no intention of raising the retirement age for pilots after a holiday weekend of flight cancellations amid airline staffing shortages.
The industry increased the age limit 15 years ago for commercial pilots to 65 years as they moved to head off forecasts of shortages.
But the pandemic triggered a wave of early retirements and airlines are once again complaining of shortages.
Buttigieg said he would not raise the retirement age, even though Americans are living and working longer - like his 79-year-old boss Joe Biden.

Regular readers know I’m a fan of popcorn movies in general and Marvel movies in particular. Having grown up reading and collecting comics, I still remember the days before digital effects when my friends and I would imagine a future when someone would finally make a decent movie based on a Marvel property.
The early days of superhero movies, starting with X-Men in 2000 or Blade in 1998 if you prefer, were definitely a mixed bag. If you’ve seen Daredevil, Elektra, any of the Fantastic Four films, the later X-Men films, etc. then you already know that getting the tone right wasn’t easy.

As it happens I was just in the National Gallery in London last Friday perusing paintings by Turner, Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Monday, a pair of anti-fossil fuel campaigners entered the museum, covered a painting by John Constable with an image they’d made themselves and then glued their hands to the frame of the painting. Here’s what Constable’s ‘The Hay Wain’ looks like. (snip) And here’s video of the protesters after it was covered with their own dystopian version of the image. I haven’t seen any explanation for why the staff who are present in nearly every room of the National Gallery stood by and allowed this.

Joe Biden has shipped five million barrels from the United States' Strategic Oil Reserve abroad, after claiming that releasing them would help ease Americans' pain at the pumps. The president faces accusations of a sneaky sleight of hand as it was revealed that between a fifth and a sixth of the reserve oil he bragged about releasing to boost supply made its way offshore to Europe and Asia in June. Biden authorized the release of a million barrels a day from April onwards.(Snip)Biden's announcement about releasing the oil barrels was made in April, and saw him say: 'These releases will put more than one million barrels per day

A debate is raging inside the Democratic Party about whether it’s giving its base — especially those under 30, the generation that most strongly supports abortion rights — enough motivation to keep voting for the party, as federal Democrats struggle to meaningfully push back against the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
The fear is that an already deflated Democratic base won’t show up in November, particularly the youngest voters, who smashed participation records in the last two elections and backed President Joe Biden by a 25-point margin in 2020. Some Democrats stress that the Biden administration and Congress need to do more to show their rage — and willingness
