It Sure Seems Gavin Newsom Broke CA Law

Original Article

As RedState’s Cameron Arcand reported Tuesday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom vacationed in Montana with his family over the 4th of July holiday – a state that is currently on the list of states to which California has banned state-sponsored travel because it’s deemed to have anti-LGBTQ “discriminatory laws.” (snip) Newsom is afforded a state-funded security detail through the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and there’s no indication that those officers are not with him. That apparently puts Newsom in violation of California’s AB-1887, signed by Newsom’s predecessor, Jerry Brown, in 2016.

It's a really stupid law to begin with, but Newsom is one who more than likely agrees with that law as long as it applies to others. Just a bit different when it applies to him.

He has been quoted as saying no taxpayer dollars are being spent on his vacation. So who is paying for his security detail? Oh wait, I have to parse his language. The California taxpayers aren’t paying for Newsome and his family but they are paying for his security…so technically his statement is correct. It’s good to the governor/king.

For many readers, the above title will conjure up memories of the 2008 housing crash caused by the proliferation of subprime mortgages and the subsequent tsunami of defaults. But a better corollary for the coming Biden bust is the Carter crash that occurred three decades earlier. During the final two years of Carter’s term, sales of existing and new homes collapsed because the Fed was forced to raise interest rates sharply to get double-digit inflation under control. This, in turn, produced double-digit mortgage rates that priced millions of potential buyers out of the market.
