City officials hid just how far underwater ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio’s NYC Ferry project went, the city comptroller says. Dubious bookkeeping girded city officials’ claims the interborough boat service—which plies city waters from the Bronx to Queens, and is priced to compete with subways and buses—cost 30% less to operate than the actual numbers showed, according to the report by Comptroller Brad Lander. The ferries cost $758 million to operate from July 2015 through December 2021—$224 million more than the $534 million in costs reported by de Blasio administration officials during that period, the auditors found.(Snip)Hornblower—the company contracted to run the ferries

Comments:

There's just something about Warren Wilhelm, aka Bill de Blasio. Noo Yawkizz would probably vote him right back in should he find himself running low on funds. Mayor Big Bird set the fares at $2.75 per, with a $6.60/ride subsidy that really was $12.88 per, and there's no doubt that "federal money" was poured down this drain. The ferry operator was allowed to rob the city of millions of dollars too; maybe they are a valued Friend of Bill.

DeBlabbio and his equally corrupt wife took NYC for millions. Cayman Island banks must be busting at the seams with their stolen money. Eric Leroy Adams isn't smart enough to steal that kind of money but he's certainly dumb enough to screw up the city in just as many ways. You New Yorkers need to make better choices before the city becomes a nature preserve on the Hudson.

So, another case of a government lying to get the results (on paper) that they wanted. Another case of what the public deserves to know to make decisions, be damned. The "elected" do as they please, including deciding who was "elected". If citizens don't watch the "elected" like hawks, they will steal the citizenry blind. New York City is now the nation’s hotspot for monkeypox after ticking up 119 cases as of Wednesday. Health officials have reported at least 605 cases of the illness across the US, which makes NYC’s tally nearly 20% of the total. Cases in the city are up by 50% since last week, leading some to point fingers at June’s Pride month celebrations, which drew some 2 million tourists into NYC. The virus spreads via skin-to-skin contact with an infected individual, prompting some experts to call it a “sexually transmitted disease.” San Francisco has already reported outbreaks stemming from specific Bay Area Pride events, per local media outlet SFist.

James Comer of Kentucky, the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee, said Treasury officials refused to hand over suspicious activity reports or SARs unless the committee’s Democratic leaders sign off on the request. “Despite Treasury’s assertion in the press that it ‘provides SARs to Congress in a manner that enables robust oversight,’ Treasury is refusing to release SARs connected with Hunter Biden or his family and associates—including the President,” Mr. Comer wrote in a letter Wednesday to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen. He said Treasury outright denied the Republicans’

For many readers, the above title will conjure up memories of the 2008 housing crash caused by the proliferation of subprime mortgages and the subsequent tsunami of defaults. But a better corollary for the coming Biden bust is the Carter crash that occurred three decades earlier. During the final two years of Carter’s term, sales of existing and new homes collapsed because the Fed was forced to raise interest rates sharply to get double-digit inflation under control. This, in turn, produced double-digit mortgage rates that priced millions of potential buyers out of the market.
