Conservatives in Nine States Calling for

Conservative leaders in Georgia and Ohio are spearheading calls for Republicans to close their state primaries and allow only voters registered with their parties to participate in inter-party preliminary elections. Atlanta Tea Party president Debbie Dooley and Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Jim Renacci both told The Epoch Times last week that Democrats are “weaponizing” cross-over voting to skew outcomes in key GOP primaries across the country to either ensure the election of moderates or to nominate candidates unlikely to be successful in a general election. (snip) They join leaders of conservative groups and GOP legislators lobbying for more restrictive primary elections (snip)including Alabama, Montana, Missouri, Tennessee, New Hampshire, Wyoming, and Texas.

Lindsey Graham is not going to like this at all. He sure doesn’t want SC included in closed primaries. He has been using the Democrats to get elected for years

I concur. It would end a long-standing form of fraud - one party free to undermine the other by choosing their candidate for them.

We should end Democrats choosing our candidates. Open primaries is why we have Rino's like John Cornyn in Texas. No, we didn't choose him. The Democrats chose for us.

Closed primaries, not closeted primaries. This still won't prevent the GOP from having enough ringer candidates in the primary to divide the vote and keep the incumbent in place on name recognition alone (give or take a little of the usual ballot box stuffing). People like Lindsay Graham and Mitch McConnell are just too important for the Demicans to lose.

Why do states conduct elections for political parties? Why can states write the rules for parties to nominate candidates? These are private entities. What person they select is not the state's business. Then let's discuss ballot access...

WASHINGTON — Pharmacists can prescribe the leading COVID-19 pill directly to patients under a new U.S. policy announced Wednesday that's intended to expand use of Pfizer's drug Paxlovid. The Food and Drug Administration said pharmacists can begin screening patients to see if they are eligible for Paxlovid and then prescribe the medication, which has been shown to curb the worst effects of COVID-19. Previously only physicians could prescribe the antiviral drug. The announcement comes as COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths are rising again, though they remain near their lowest levels since the coronavirus outbreak began in 2020.

Plans for more taxpayer-funded experiments on dogs commissioned by Anthony Fauci’s division of the NIH have recently been canceled, which is pretty damning for the fact-checkers who attempted to cover for Fauci by downplaying similar experiments brought into the spotlight last summer. In addition to Snopes, FactCheck.org, and PolitiFact all parroting the same statement from Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases — “Animals used in federally-funded research are protected by laws, regulations, and policies to ensure the smallest possible number of subjects and the greatest commitment to their welfare” — the fact-checkers also tried to distance Fauci from the experiments.

After the U.S. Supreme Court revoked the federal right to an abortion that's been in place for half a century, companies like Amazon, Disney, Apple and JP Morgan pledged to cover travel costs for employees who live in states where the procedure is now illegal so they can terminate pregnancies. "There wasn't a lot of love in that family." The accused shooter, 21, is in police custody after allegedly gunning down revelers at the Highland Park July 4 parade, killing at least six people and injuring more than 36.

The G7 plan to create another economic sanction against Russia by capping the price anyone could pay for Russian oil has a serious downside. If Russia slows down the export of oil, global oil prices will jump dramatically. That policy outcome would mean a massive increase in the price of gasoline for U.S. consumers. Because the consequences are horrible, that’s precisely the reason Joe Biden might push to have the Russian price cap. Every policy Joe Biden has historically supported, has been the exact opposite of what should have been done. Biden has a profound and innate ability to screw up anything.

For many readers, the above title will conjure up memories of the 2008 housing crash caused by the proliferation of subprime mortgages and the subsequent tsunami of defaults. But a better corollary for the coming Biden bust is the Carter crash that occurred three decades earlier. During the final two years of Carter’s term, sales of existing and new homes collapsed because the Fed was forced to raise interest rates sharply to get double-digit inflation under control. This, in turn, produced double-digit mortgage rates that priced millions of potential buyers out of the market.
