Rocks hurled at police and subsequent gunshots punctuated a tense standoff between as many as 80 officers and around 60 people in Englewood late Thursday night, police said. At 11:30 p.m., Englewood Police officers responded to a report of a disturbance at the intersection of Palisade Avenue and Palisade Place, Deputy Chief Gregory Halstead said in an email. Paterson—City residents’ vote-by-mail ballots were disqualified in last month's controversial council races at significantly higher rates than they had been in Paterson’s three previous municipal elections, according to information in public records. The Passaic County Board of Elections decided not to count 3,274 all mail-in ballots in the 2020 council elections, or 20 percent of those that were submitted. In comparison, the board rejected 10.5 percent of the mail-in ballots in the 2018 municipal election, 4.8 percent in 2016 and 4.5 percent in 2014, according to a Paterson Press analysis of the data provided by county officials.

Then they asked the Electoral College to defy the will of the people they represented. That, too, didn’t work.
The next chapter was the smear that Trump had colluded with the Russians. But the only collusion they could find in their two-year investigation was the Dems’ own payment of millions of dollars for a fake Russian “dossier”

Mike Lindell, the outspoken CEO of Minnesota-based MyPillow, is back in the news after a donation of his wares to members of the Minnesota National Guard who were sleeping on the floor as they helped protect locations in the Twin Cities area.
In a tweet Wednesday, Lindell announced the donation and showed some of the guardsmen and women and MyPillow employees unpacking and testing out out the products.

Despite the left’s recent efforts to paint Trump as a racist and blame him for police brutality and the riots, Rasmussen Reports says that approval for President Trump amongst likely black voters is now over 40 percent. [Tweet]
Trump received 8 percent of the African American vote in 2016. In August 2019, black voter approval for Trump stood at 26 percent.
I am admittedly skeptical of Rasmussens 40 percent approval number, nevertheless, the increase of 14 points from a year ago suggests that Trump’s support from within the black community is increasing, despite the best efforts of the Democrats and the media to paint him as a racist.
Once again, President Donald Trump is being scapegoated for societal problems that he didn’t cause. He didn’t bring the coronavirus to our shores, and he has not created an atmosphere of racial disharmony in this country.
Is there anything Trump’s haters won’t blame on him? They’ve been trying to remove him since before he was sworn in, and every time they fail, they find another excuse — from the Russia-collusion hoax to Ukraine to the coronavirus to economic hardship from the shutdown to the murder of George Floyd to the subsequent mayhem in our cities.

A Florida woman who reportedly spent three months in jail for battering her boyfriend in October attacked the man with a hamburger Monday night, according to a Pinellas County arrest affidavit.
Tanya Cordero, 47, denied that she’d “smashed hamburger” into the alleged victim’s face, but police say that when they arrived at the couple’s trailer park, the 39-year-old man “had hamburger in his ear.”
The conflict began when the pair argued about whether a window in their mobile home that they share with the victim’s mother, should be open or closed. The victim’s mom owns the trailer. Cordero and the victim have four children.

The sudden plunge in the unemployment rate just reported for May is a reminder of — for all the setbacks of the past few months — the extraordinary power of the Trump economy and the American free enterprise system. The economy added 2.5 million jobs last month, bringing the jobless rate down to 13.3% from the 14.7% recorded in April. Given that expectations were running closer to 20%, or more, it’s just a remarkable report.
It would be imprudent to make too much of this. There’s a long way to go. Yet it would also be unwise to fail to mark such good news as there is.

A three-judge appeals court panel heard arguments this week from Hillary Clinton’s lawyer and Judicial Watch as the former secretary of state seeks to avoid a deposition about her private email server and the Benghazi attack talking points.
Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, argued Tuesday that the depositions of Clinton and Clinton's former chief of staff, Cheryl Mills, ordered by a D.C. district court judge was necessary to understand whether Clinton attempted to avoid the Freedom of Information Act when she improperly used a private server to conduct her State Department business and whether the agency adequately searched for all her emails.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Supreme Court is blocking an assault weapons ban from going to voters in 2022, saying in a Thursday ruling that the ballot summary is deceptive because it doesn't clearly state that a grandfathering clause applies to the owner, not the gun itself.
A group called Ban Assault Weapons Now sponsored the proposed constitutional amendment, inspired by the mass shooting at a Parkland high school that left 17 people dead. It would have banned the possession of any semiautomatic rifle or shotgun capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition.
Uber said it will make changes to its ride-hailing app and Uber Eats delivery service to support black-owned businesses.
In an email to customers late Thursday, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said Uber Eats will promote black-owned restaurants on its app, and that the service will not charge delivery fees to those restaurants “for the remainder of the year.”

The Minneapolis mayor is asking for federal help cleaning up and rebuilding his city after rioters caused at least $55 million worth of damage through looting, burning, and defacing public and private property.
That cost estimate is likely to increase in the coming days as government officials continue to tally the damage done in the wake of George Floyd’s death, Mayor Jacob Frey said according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. In a new federal lawsuit, the affiliate's ACLU lawyers say the government had "no legitimate basis" to clear the square, arguing that the use of flash bombs and rubber bullets against protesters "is a continuation of an unlawful history of oppression of civil rights activists." Attorney General William Barr, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, various agency heads, and unidentified law enforcement officers are also named as defendants.

A state ethics committee ruled on Friday that former Colorado governor and current Senate candidate John Hickenlooper (D.) violated a ban on accepting gifts while in office.
The Colorado Independent Ethics Commission decided that Hickenlooper's flight on a campaign donor's private jet, as well as his attendance at a conference in Italy, violated the ban, according to the Colorado Sun. Hickenlooper initially refused to appear at the hearing, prompting the condemnation of a federal judge and members of the commission.

The Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday blocked an order requiring Texas officials to make mail-in ballots available to any voter who wants one due to the coronavirus ahead of elections in July.
Mail-in ballots are available in Texas if the applicant is over the age of 65. Voters under 65 must demonstrate that they will be outside the state or have a disability to vote by mail. Texas Democrats challenged those rules, arguing among other things that they violate equal protection and the 26th Amendment's bar on age discrimination in voting.

Overturning one of his predecessor’s more far-reaching environmental measures in New England, President Trump on Friday signed a proclamation allowing commercial fishing in nearly 5,000 square miles of protected waters off Cape Cod.
The decision undermines one of the main goals of the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument, a controversial preserve about 130 miles southeast of Provincetown that President Barack Obama designated in his final year in office. It was the first marine monument in the Atlantic Ocean.
The Connecticut-sized area features a range of unique coral, rare fish, endangered marine mammals, and sea turtles. It contains three underwater canyons deeper than the Grand Canyon and four underwater mountains.
