The Marine Corps has banned the Confederate battle flag from display in both public areas and work spaces at its installations. In new guidance shared on Friday, the Marine Corps said the Confederate battle flag’s depiction via such things as bumper stickers, clothing, mugs, posters, and the flag itself are not allowed in public or work spaces. “The Confederate battle flag has all too often been co-opted by violent extremist groups whose divisive beliefs have no place in our Corps,” the Marine Corps said in a statement shared on Twitter. “Our history as a nation, and events like the violence in Charlottesville
Good for the Marine Corps.
There is no place for the Confederate flag except as a historical reference, if even that needs to be done, in history books.
It is not the flag of the United States, and there is not a "flag of the South", so it has no real place.
Hopefully, the Corps can help educate their recruits and be part of the process.

So has the Christian cross, the American flag, the LSMFT flag, etc. The Confederate Battle Flag means different things to different people. To some it means racism, oppression and all that stuff. To me it's just a regional symbol. Just as in Scotland kilts and bagpipes are symbols of a people who see monsters in lakes and find throwing logs fun. No one wants to see men wearing dresses (well almost no one) and no one wants to hear something that sounds a hog being castrated. If I still imbibed I'd get a bottle of Old Forrester and Rebel Yell before they are renamed Thelma and Louise.

A regional symbol #2, from a region that tried to secede from the United States and lost, at great cost to that region and to the United States. Now, it just says "I'm a redneck." It has no place other than in a history book.

Another obola-bot self-identified. They have to be cleaned out, so the military can be honorable once again.

More leftist utter nonsense. How long before the Marine Corps chooses to disband itself in the interest of eliminating 'toxic masculinity'?
The military has been emasculated by the hand picked corps of senior officers installed by Barrack Obama.
Like most of the nonsense, the public will have no clue what has occurred until it's too late. They will then agonize "What happened?"

Ike himself proudly displayed a picture of Robert E. Lee, whose battle flag the Fundamentally Transformed Marine Corps now reviles. "General Robert E. Lee was... one of the supremely gifted men produced by this Nation...Through all his many trials he remained selfless almost to a fault and unfailing in his belief in God...he was noble as a leader and as a man, and unsullied as I read the pages of our history...I proudly display the picture of this great American on my office wall."

I agree! We can't have the marines run'n 'round spreading hate! It makes a terrible impression on people in other lands!
I'm worried, ever since all those cop killings, about people who wear the color blue. Perhaps they should adopt another color scheme for their dress uniforms-- say purple, or pink!

Just another feather in the cap of the "social justice warriors".
The REAL warriors are a dying breed.
Forget or admire this at your own peril.

When LDotters start buying into the BLM propanda and trying to rework the Marine Corps, we are in real trouble. What a change around here...

PS to those mocking kilts (“men in skirts”) and bagpipes had best study up. Those kilted guys were warriors and bagpipes were their call to battle. They didn’t need bullets to slaughter their enemies…

West Virginia, what say you? Ya'll got a lot of stuff dedicated to and named after Robert KKK Sheets Byrd. We'll wait.
I don't have any issues either way with the Confederate flag, but the USMC has displayed it on installations all this time; what's the significance of removing it now? I've been on most of the USMC bases, but I've never noticed a Confederate flag.
If the Marine Corps is going all the way PC, America's done. I hope Americans can love their new country.

This is no more than virtue signalling. We have PROOF because West Virginia displays the name of a former Grand Kleagle of the KKK on bridges, roads, hiking trails, streams, and transportation facilities from one end of the state to the other!!
This is no longer our forefather’s military. I would hate for it to ever get like the UK military - they still have the real pretty shined brass, the best parades to show off the best uniforms and marching precision BUT the best in pomp and circumstance but unified and courageous fighting POWER? Not really the priority anymore.

So, banning the Confederate flag, the flag of a country who attempted to overthrow the US government, is antithetical to the US Marines? And agreeing with that statement makes you a progressive who buys into leftist propaganda? You are correct #9, there has been a change at Lucianne. Unfortunately, I think some of the great thinkers that used to be on here have passed away.

The pussification of the Corps continues...what happened to the leaders who stormed the beaches in Normandy and a lot of other places, to keep us free, so that their kids could do this to our society????

The Confederate Flag was the South's battle standard. It was created after the rebellion commenced and accompanied troops into battle where they would summarily kill any black soldier that they captured. It has no association with any other era or aspect of the Southern states. For that reason I can support their policy. But we should not automatically demonize many of the Southern Leaders such as Lee, Stonewall, and even Nathan Bedford Forrest for they made major contributions both before and after the war.

Strange that people who are living 155 years after the Civil War ended are more offended by the Confederate Flag than folks who actually lived through or fought in the Civil War. The union goon schools have done a great job. Sorry to hear the Marines have morphed into pussies

My great grandfather fought for the union, despite living in a southern state that seceded. As a matter of fact, my family has fought in every war that the US has ever had, including the revolution.
There has been a fair amount of historical revisionism to pretend that the civil war was an academic debate over states rights. It was not. It was about keeping the huge number of slaves working and out of power.
Slavery is the government suppression of God-given rights from a human without justification. Just like Jim Crow laws, the governments in the south actively worked to decrease freedom.
I have been on this forum for many, many years. My views have not changed, and I have not sold out. Freedom is freedom. Government is mostly the opposite of freedom.

I have no feelings for the Rebel Flag but I tried to buy a "Black Rifles Matter" sticker from a couple of websites that used to carry them - Gone. But Amazon has that big proud "Black lives matter" banner at the top of their web page. Pandering Pansies. They had better not mess with Black Rifle Coffee because that has become a daily staple. What's next, the Christian Cross because they used to crucify thugs and murderers on those too?

The Marine Corps has been having trouble recruiting the last few years due to the strong economy and the wussification of young American males.
So lets further limit their rights to have things that mean something to them personally, while forcing them to tolerate disgusting things (like homosexual flags and symbols) that they find abhorrent and evil. Either allow it all, or ban it all!!!
If you don't like the Confederate flag, don't own one. If we are going to ask these young men to risks their lives to protect and defend us from the worst of the worst, I have no problem with them having a Confederate flag bumper sticker on their personal vehicles.
