The Strand is taking a stand. “We’re not going to board up the windows,” said Nancy Bass Wyden, third-generation owner of the famed East Village bookstore. Its “18 miles of books” have been under lockdown since the pandemic began, but now a new threat to the 93-year-old business has emerged—looters and rioters marauding through the neighborhood.(Snip) Yet on Sunday night graffiti saying “F–k NYPD” and “NYPD SMD” was spray-painted on the Broadway and East 12th Street facade, which was designated a city landmark last summer. “We spent Monday morning cleaning it up,”

Arafat was in the same racket. He had billions in Manhattan real estate, if I’ve heard correctly.
Blm could have a particularly sweet racket if they bought real estate for nothing after one of their riots and then moved their next riot to the next acquisition location.

BLM is no different from the Mob; it just wants to "wet its beak". I hope Ms. Wyden lets us know how that works for her. Give these terrorists an inch......
Appeasement never works. I'm afraid that before too long she'll be learning a very hard lesson. She has just proved to BLM that she can be pushed around. This will not end well for her bookstore.

Golly gee - - haven't they ever visited this forum?
If they did - - they would know - - that the safest place to be during an urban riot is - -
- - the book store!

What are Obama's naughty children going to do with books, burn them like everything else? They certainly can't use them for their intended purpose.

Vandalized but not looted. Apparently none of the 'peaceful protesters' was interested in the rare and valuable book collection the store has.

The left can''t read otherwise they would know that more atrocities in this work were committed by leftist rulers. Staling, Mao - Mrs. Mao, Pol Pot killed more people than anybody else. Even the sub-human Hitler.

Uh-oh….from the slightly wayback machine:
The Strand Bookstore, a New York City icon that is home to 2.5 million books and 92 years of storefront history, was commemorated by the city and chosen as a historic city landmark this week. Nancy Bass Wyden, the store's third-generation owner, isn't taking it as a compliment.
"Some people have congratulated me, and I said, 'No, this is no congratulations. This is a punishment,' " Bass Wyden tells NPR's Scott Simon.
Bass Wyden feels that the designation is counterproductive.
"We don't need the city to come in and just put red tape and bureaucracy and take control over decision-makings of the store. ... It's really no honor," Bass Wyden says. "We're already a landmark.”

Translated: "I want to sell this to a developer at some point as the property is worth more than the bookstore and the books.” She doesn’t want City landmark control.

"Nice pizza place ya got heah. Be a real shame if somethin' should happen to it in the night, capiche?" Different mob, same mentality. Bad move, though; by removing the Urban Art from their storefront, they side with the White Oppressors, the pain magnified by the fact that books denote White Privilege.
