Trump criticizes Saints' Drew Brees
after apologizing for stance on
kneeling during the national anthem

President Trump criticized New Orleans Saints star Drew Brees on Friday after the quarterback apologized for his comments against kneeling during the national anthem in the wake of the George Floyd protests. Trump took to Twitter to share his thoughts on Brees, who has twice apologized since saying in an interview on Wednesday that he “will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.”

Comments:

In Brees groveling apology, one line stood out: The black community cannot do it alone. Why can't blacks do it alone? Why do they need help from whites? If a person's color shouldn't be used as a barometer of discrimination, why is it used as a sign for help? This is how the Left divides us-and this is why so many blacks are finally waking up and realizing that those who want to "help" them actually are keeping them down. One day Brees will realize how he was pushed into saying this condescending statement.

The NFL is composed of nearly 70% black athletes. Let's go for 80-90%. Oppression? Hardly.

In two sports dominated by blacks the NFL and NBA Brees picked the wrong forum at the wrong time. Drew Brees has one Super Bowl ring and many records of accomplishments in the league now he's going to have another one 'most sacked quarterback in the NFL in one season'. Buh Bye Drew I hardly knew you. Drew Brees shouldn't have apologized and the apology was weak. Anyone read what the former football star Jim Brown had to say about it? He supported Drew Brees.

Brees will have quit the NFL. People that love this country are not welcome in the NFL. Trump supporters are not welcome in the NFL. There are a lot of Trump supporters and we need to march in the streets, surround the Congress, and let them know nobody intimidates us, calls us racists, or anything else. We are here to stay.

Drew got sacked by the full blitz of leftists trying to score points on social media and possibly threatening the rest of his career. If respect for the flag has nothing to do with the plight of angry blacks then why use it for free tv protesting at the beginning of NFL games. Let them buy their own tv time. It just might be time to forget most major league sports and move on to other pastimes. Sports used to be a unifying theme for our country but now has turned into a racial divisive racial cause.

$20 trillion of help has been dispensed over the past 50 years to all types of needy Americans yet it is only the blacks who continue to complain. People (blacks included)immigrate from all the world and assimilate and prosper yet American born blacks can't progress? It is a culture wjich only the black community can change. They should start with their "leadership" black and white. Not racist, just facts . BTW I quit watching the NFL over a decade ago so I feel left out of the controversy .

The man has money, right? I mean more money than a vast majority will ever earn and even if he spent a lot of it you mean to tell me he doesn't have at least $2 million dollars he hasn't even thought about? How much more money do you need, Drew? Extra money is worth EVERY shred of dignity, a permanent stain on your reputation, and 'respect' which won't be there anyway, by a crowd that is nothing but a feral mob? What is wrong with you? I guess when all you do is play a game, even a hard, violent, game, when a real test of your courage comes along the exposed core of what you stand for is not what you imagined. Pat Tillman, who died for the ideals of that flag and for this country, would turn his back on all of this. You had a choice to follow his example and you choose the hypocrites and tools of the left.

Dear Brees: The flag has nothing to do with the politics of BLM, or any other left-wing organization. Those people attacked our flag as an insult and an attempt to offend us. They have certainly not made any new friends or converts to their unpatriotic stupidity, and neither have you! Coward!

I’m with Trump, totally, on this. I have no respect whatsoever for Drew Brees. He may be brave on the field, but a coward off. He gave up on his principles and now he will never get back any respect from anyone anywhere. He may as well retire. And I think it’s time to stomp down this Black Lives Matter. It’s nothing more than a big con to enrich the so-called leaders of the movement.

Brees was right the first time, wrong to be cowed into apologizing. And, CLEARLY, the NFL is a racist institution - because they hire blacks by preference. I think we need to have a limit on the number of black players. No more than 13% of all NFL players should be permitted to be black, this is just "racial justice" for the underrepresented, downtrodden and displaced poor white football players who are OBVIOUSLY left out because of racism in the selection process.

As a resident of Louisiana, I'm saddened by Brees capitulation to BLM. Since I gave up the NFL when Kaperdink started the kneeling, with the rest of the black players following suit, it doesn't matter too me what happens to the NFL. Drew's apologies were unwarranted, because he's more than comfortably set for life. I understand he's hoping to avoid an on field injury, but since he says this his last year, he should have ended it a year earlier and walked away. As for the ungrateful people attacking him, end all your charity work and let the attackers pick up the slack. That said, I don't think this is something the President needed to weigh in on. He has more important things to worry about !

Now that he has ruined his career and his self respect, he may as well come clean and admit he didn’t REALLY respect his grandfathers for serving their country in WW II. That reference is the second part of his initial statement, which supported the first part. Therefore, Drew Baby, come forth and disparage your grandparents. You used them and their patriotism to say what isn’t in your heart at all. As Elaine Benes would say, FAKE. FAKE. FAKE. FAKE.

Remember the movie The Longest Yard? If the Offensive Line steps aside rather protecting the Quarterback, he will be crippled in short order. When the threats starting coming in, Brees had the option of standing by his original statement, and used the threats as a reason to retire with honor. Instead he caved, and the pogrom against white players will continue.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said on Wednesday that income tax increases in the state were inevitable even if the government did dole out more coronavirus-related aid. “You probably will see tax increases in any event,” Cuomo said during his press conference. Cuomo had previously indicated tax hikes on the wealthy were on the table if the government failed to approve more funding for state and local governments. The three-term Democratic governor said on Wednesday that the consequences would be “devastating” if Congress does not agree to provide aid, involving several thousand layoffs, increased fares and tolls and government borrowing.
