California’s Legislature now has a pandemic-battered budget plan: Pray, wait and hope for the best. More seriously, Democratic leaders want to postpone the pain carried in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed spending cuts to meet a looming $54.3 billion shortfall.
Both the governor and his counterparts in the Legislature know the depth of the problem: a crashing economy, rising jobless and health bills, and no end in sight for the coronavirus threat. Both are leaning on the thin wish that more federal stimulus money will ride to the rescue though that brewing bailout is stalled in Washington. Thank the Republicans in the Senate for refusing

I have a better plan. SPEND LESS MONEY. Start with kicking your bums out of their free hotel rooms.

They could probably completely plug their budget holes by not funding all the expenses of illegal invaders.

Correction: “California lawmakers need YOUR money to plug budget holes”
But don’t you worry, they will spend it wisely and you’ll never know what they spent it in. It will be painless.

PDT is a professional negotiator. Can you imagine the stipulations that he (PDT) would require?
For xxx amount of money, you must do______.
For xxx amount of money, you must do_______.
Any defaults will void future funds.
PDT will demand obedience from the lame governors-----and the economy will flourish.

Why should I pay taxes for their bad governance, their crappy high speed trains I will never ride, their crappy streets I'll never walk and their hotel rooms for their homeless I will never need? Just because I'm a retired old privileged white guy? Guess again professor.
California can go pound sand.

If they would cut all spending that goes to illegal aliens they wouldn’t need as mail out. The only choice is to raise taxes and increase borrowing.

Yes, the governor and his counterparts know the depth of the problem but it is not what is being cited here. People with functioning brain cells and short-term memories can see that California was in way over it's head back in 2019 and earlier long before the Kung Flu was a thing. Billion dollar transportation boondoggles, inflated salaries and pensions for public workers and politicians, regular pandering to organized crime labor unions, kickbacks to democrat donors and productive people fleeing the state because they can't take it any more - in other words, the same things that corrupt democrats have been doing for years. None of the above qualify for a federal bailout.

Newsom wants to drag out the lockdown to further destroy the economy and then make a grab for federal tax funds to help their State hand out the money to illegal immigrants. They of course see nothing wrong with this. We should all be happy to help.

We're constantly being told that California has the fifth largest economy in the world. If it's that big, they can bail themselves out of it. Don't ask us puny states to do it.

There is a little hitch. Fed government runs on deficits, even Republican deficits. This year what, President Trump ?

Gavin and his democrat supermajority (from LA and San Francisco region) spew money in every direction except in the direction of the working taxpayers who fund their inane schemes. There is an enormous list of things that could be cut. But he starts with things that hurt those same taxpayers. Don't encourage him.
