CNN's Saturday town hall with Sesame Street on racism started out well enough with Elmo and Big Bird teaming up with host Erica Hill to instill in young children the virtues of being kind and treating others with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, at the bottom of the hour, the focus shifted to how parents could talk to their children about race and racism in America and became much more politicized. Parents were encouraged to talk to their kids about their privilege and that attempting to be colorblind actually dehumanizes people.Hill brought up the topic of white privilege by introducing a New Hampshire mother who asked, "What are some resources

This is how it starts folks, by trying to tell people how to raise their children. Telling them that racism is endemic in our country when it's not. There's no perfect society and crimes will always occur. That's the way it is. How about teaching children to defend themselves. My mother always told me to not to let anyone push me around, to be strong.
These kids are doomed. They should be taught that their station in life was earned by hard work and determination by their family relatives. Why don't the parents teach this to their kids. I'm disgusted! Take a look at the liberal societies and see how they well their doing across the country. It always takes the conservatives to clean things up and improved our standard of living. I was watching a video of thousands of young adults dressed in black chanting to the dictates of Antifa in a major city in broad daylight. I was shocked to see this. This is the future of our country . At the rate this is going we are moving towards becoming another third world country.
My granddaughter who just graduated high school, class of 2020 told me she had very little history taught throughout her12 years and she went to charter schools.
At this point, there's nothing we can do but to stand up for our values, the constitution and support President Trump. I know If I was a young parent today, I would do everything in my power to send my children to a good school with Christian values.

These kids work their asses off while others get their black/brown legs up and they have to beg for forgiveness, too?

I am privileged. My mother and my dad were married. My mother wan't a ho.. My dad worked two jobs so he could provide for our family. My parents took me to church every Sunday and helped me with my homework. We would throw some sandwiches in a sack and go have a picnic. This pattern was repeated throughout my family. We would go to community outings and enjoy each other.
So yes, I am privileged.

I don't want CNN anywhere around kids. If they try it, CNN should be arrested for child molestation.

You mean the privilege their great grand parents, their grand parents, and their parents worked for? You mean the privilege that close to 350,000 white soldiers fought and died for during the Civil War? The only privilege anyone of any color or race has is being a citizen of the greatest country on earth.

Only 'white" privilege I had was to serve our country for 30 years in the military where we had "olive drab" privilege and served regardless of race, color, or creed.

Hey CNN, you sorry hypocrites, how about if you show the young children the ongoing riots and looting and arson and murder, and ask them how exactly those involved are treating others with dignity and respect.
Starting with the false premise that racism is a one way street invariably leads to a false conclusion. The people committing the crimes are dehumanizing themselves.

Ditto #9 I tell myself that I have privilege because my Dad married my Mom & they both worked all their lives to support us. They fed us & taught us & took us to church & they expected us to grow up to be good people. They stayed married even in the rough times and didn't whine if money was tight. They didn't do drugs, didn't think getting drunk was the way to have fun, didn't play around, didn't bad mouth people and didn't blame others for whatever trouble might have come their way. The wonderful guy I married worked a tough job so I could stay home with the kids and we could have a good retirement. He never did dope or loafed or got in fights or any of that stuff that gets one in trouble with the cops. We are blessed - we love God and try our best to do His Will. That is our protection and our salvation.

Dr MLK spoke of equal chances and that has now devolved to the insulting lowered expectations of people by their leaders.

Yes, #18, that’s how I have described my “white privilege” since the whole insane idea took hold. I’ve worked and paid taxes for almost 50 years so that I could help fund layabouts and their entitled goodies. And at the expense of my own family. All those years that we didn’t have a computer after most everyone else did, all those family vacations which never happened, all those other things and activities that we couldn’t afford.
Over $24 Trillion in entitlements and I still owe the poor and black and downtrodden? What I want to know is, when do I get my reparations for all these years of helping to foot the bill?

There is just about zero chance I would ever have the opportunity to talk face to face with a CNN reporter or editor. That is a real shame because I would love to have a conversation with one of them.
