Amidst winds of change as America confronts its race issue, a reparations resolution dismissed by many as the stuff of dreams, was unanimously passed by a City Council committee Friday and is scheduled to go before the full council June 17. The resolution would establish a “Chicago Citizens of African Descent Reparations Commission” to investigate how one of the most segregated cities in the nation could best make amends for the impact of slavery. Up for discussion by the Committee on Human Relations Thursday, black and Latino aldermen called the resolution timely and necessary, in the aftermath of the cellphone-recorded

Illinois and Chicago are bankrupt. I don't know where they will get the money but you can be sure of one thing, it will never be enough no matter how much the blacks are given. If you distributed $1,000 each then next year the demand would be for $2,000.

COOL! Chicago can give reparations to all Black Chicago residents with proven slave ancestors. Then Chicago's Black population can double, triple, quadruple, whatever, with Black newcomers who deserve the cash. Remaining taxpaying residents of Chicago would flee yet another massive tax increase and the newcomers could vote for a bond issue to make up the shortfall before city finances totally collapse. If you give it away. they will come for it. Just a thought. Does Moochelle still have a residence in Chicago? She would qualify as a recipient, right? And her nasty little girls would qualify for a half share. BamBam would qualify for nothing since he has NO slave ancestors. At least none in the USA. Maybe some African tribe enslaved some ancestors of his from his Kenyan tribe, but they wouldn't count since we know that the idea that Africans enslaved other Africans is a conspiracy theory because history tells us that slavery didn't not exist anywhere on earth before 1619.

America's race issue has not been touched, they are still out there burning and looting. The thick-headed bozos actually think they have gained ground by this mayhem. All they have gained is a few big screen TVs just in time to not watch the NFL due to another similar racial issue and created a bunch of burned out lots where they can not buy wings and Doritos.

#15, funny thing is the rioters and looters will not be able to register all those stolen big screen TVs with the manufacturers to be able to obtain software updates and warranty services, as the manufacturers, and the retail store where the TV’s were stolen, have records of the supply chain from manufacturer to the retail establishment including the serial numbers of all the stolen televisions. Once such a television set is turned on, the manufacturer may well have the capability through electronically captured data to tell where television is located.

Who is going to pay out the reparation money to all the Black folks who live in Chicago? Surely not the City of Chicago, as Chicago is broke. If Chicago tries to raise up the taxes of non Black Chicago residents and businesses to suck in the money to pay out to Black residents, it would be an act of unconstitutional discrimination. Besides Chicago is bound to lose a lot of the tax base that is located in the city as affected residents and businesses will shut down and move outside the city.

Writing at the Washington Post, author Alyssa Rosenberg has a unique solution for the problems with our policing: Cancel all the cop shows on television. She argues we need to do that because there’s a “reactionary streak” behind the “surface liberalism” in these shows. For a century, Hollywood has been collaborating with police departments, telling stories that whitewash police shootings and valorizing an action-hero style of policing over the harder, less dramatic work of building relationships with the communities cops are meant to serve and protect. There’s a reason for that beyond a reactionary streak hiding below the industry’s surface
