A Democratic presidential campaign field that was once touted as the most diverse in history has been whittled down to six candidates on its debate stage, all of them white. For Oakland Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee, that’s a problem. Lee says the Democratic National Committee’s rules for determining who can participate in its presidential debates is “systematically discriminatory” against people of color. To qualify for Tuesday’s debate in Iowa, a candidate had to receive contributions from 225,000 donors nationally and receive at least 7% support in two polls from the early-voting states — Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina

In the first 100 days since House Democrats began their impeachment push on September 24, ABC, CBS and NBC have aggressively aided the effort. A Media Research Center analysis finds the Big Three evening newscasts have battered the President with 93% negative coverage and promoted impeachment at the expense of nearly all other Trump news. At the same time, the broadcast networks donated at least 124 hours of wall-to-wall live coverage as they pre-empted regular programming in favor of House Democrat-led impeachment activities. On the other hand, the networks’ frenzy over impeachment has meant the Democratic presidential candidates have been barely visible on the evening newscasts,

WASHINGTON, DC – Attorney General William Barr held a press conference on Monday to discuss the findings of an investigation into the terror attack on a Florida Naval base in December and other topics, at one point defending the Trump administration’s elimination of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. A reporter asked Barr if the Trump administration gave any “special consideration” to Soleimani’s position in the Iranian government – the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ (IRGC) Quds Force, an arm dedicated to external acts of terrorism. “Did you give any special consideration of the fact that he was a senior official of another government,” the reporter asked,

God’s anointed monarchs have kept their hollow crowns by force and cunning, or they’ve lost them to superior force and cunning. Last week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their secession from the monarchy, and that they intended to cash out with their titles, baubles, hereditary perquisites and sponsorship deals intact. Opinion polling isn’t everything. However, it often gives you a good barometer of the general shape of things, especially at the state level. As of mid-2019, every single one of the top 10 most popular governors in the country were Republicans, while eight of the 10 least popular were Democrats. Generally speaking, voters trust Republicans more than they trust Democrats to lead their states. A deeper look at GOP-led states’ economic success explains why — but beyond the minutiae of simple policy, the bottom line is that electing a Republican often means increased growth and lower unemployment. An even stronger rule bears out the opposite when Democrats control the governor’s mansion.

Conservatives strongly support existing laws to purge from voter rolls names associated with people who have passed away or moved on. They argue that doing so preserves voting integrity by making it more difficult for the cemetery vote to affect election outcomes.
