In October 2019, it was reported that knife crime had reached a record high in England and Wales, with more than 44,000 offences involving a knife or a sharp instrument recorded by police in the 12 months leading up to June.(Snip) In a bid to tackle knife crime, British cutlery and kitchenware firm Viners, which was founded in Sheffield in 1901, has designed a new range of knives with square ends. The company says the range, named the “Assure collection”,

And the 100 to 200 million 'pointy' knives already out there?
Rub a square one on a sidewalk and make it pointed, even if you can't find a belt sander or grinder.
Beyond stupid.
Armed citizens is the answer, and maybe even ARMED police.

So they created sharper butter knives. When's the pointy-knifed buy back program?

Stupid. Will the edge still be sharp enough to cut deep in a well applied slashing attack?! Next will be bullets with no gun powder.

Oh good. Now it's REALLY going to hurt, and it won't be the knoife (good one, OP) what kills us so much as the stupidity.

Kitchen knives, pocket knives, any sharp knife is on my list of things I would never sell from my home via Craigslist. Why set oneself up for some kook who lacks sufficient impulse control?
Same thing goes for a set of wine glasses. Too many fools out there.

A little trivia here. Ceramic knives are made with a certain amount of metal in the ceramic so they can't be snuck past metal detectors.

Hint for those British Snowflakes who haven't figured it out yet:
It's not 'Gun Crime'.
It's not 'Knife Crime'.
It's called THUG Crime, and you will get more and more of it until you put the THUGS in PRISON.
What are the Snowflakes going to do next? Ban everything sharper than a Rubber Ball?

Knives are very simple to make. We made them in junior high shop class. I was partial to the Arkansas toothpick but others liked the classic bowie type. Heck, all a Brit would have to do is sharpen a piece of rebar and he has a stabber. This is just more Euroidiocy.

How about a knife for Muslim terrorists? Blunt the end that faces forward and sharpen the end that faces back towards the holder. That way they can strap these knives to their body and then run into things they want to stab.
We could call them "Suicide Knifers."

This is definitely not enough effort. Dull plastic or rubber knives should be the only knives available. Save the country.

Blunting the tip might make SKEWERS less dangerous. The operative element of a knife is its BLADE, though, not so much its tip. And jihadis have shown a fondness for beheading infidels with dull carving knives. (So even dulling the blade would have only limited prospects of success for mitigating violence). Ridiculous 'strategy'.
Which makes me wonder whether it's even real. Or just one of the fabrications the 'news' will try to feed to audiences this week.
