The silly smear of Bill Barr as
an agent of a ‘Catholic cult’

Original Article

Bill Barr is plugged into, and gets his marching orders from, a network of reactionary Catholics, whose tentacles reach into the highest echelons of power. At the center is a sinister, secretive organization with a Latin name: Opus Dei, “the Work of God.” That’s the impression you might take away from a new profile of the attorney general in The New Yorker. All that’s missing are the hair shirts, cilices and murderous albino monks — the kind of thing too many secular elites believe about the lives of devout Catholics generally and members of Opus Dei especially.

The New Yorker! Yet another magazine I used to subscribe to religiously (!) in the "olden" days, before it became biased and crappy. The cartoons are even sub-par now.

I have read a bit about Opus Dei. It is quite conservative, but it is not a cult.

It appears to me that the tentacles reaching into the highest echelons of power are the Obama jihadi muslims, the unashamed babykillers and the militant LGBTQers! But that's just me.

Illinois lawmakers are raising questions about the integrity of state elections after the secretary of state admitted hundreds of non-citizens were registered as voters, and could have cast ballots illegally in the 2018 election. In a letter, Secretary of State Jesse White’s office said a “programming error” in a signature pad at driver services facilities led to hundreds of non-U.S. citizens accidentally being registered as voters. The Secretary of State’s Office said the problem has been fixed Tuesday, but state lawmakers and election authorities are just beginning to raise concerns. “We view it as a significant problem," said Matt Dietrich of the Illinois State Board Of Elections. The International Skating Union this week included an outfit made of Auschwitz uniforms worn by a Russian skater among a “best costume” list — then removed it and said it was included by mistake after a public outcry. The costume, which includes a Star of David and elements of Auschwitz guard uniforms, was worn by Anton Shulepov while he skated to the theme from Schindler’s List during a free skate routine in November. The ISU included the costume in a contest that allows fans to vote for their favorite outfits worn by skaters on Sunday. The organization removed it from the list by Monday morning, saying they intended

A purported street-gang leader from Lombard is accused of seeking to send money to Islamic State militants in Syria. A complaint says 37-year-old Jason Brown gave $500 on three separate occasions to someone he believed would forward it to an IS fighter. But the middleman was cooperating with authorities and the supposed militant was an undercover law enforcement officer. The charging documents say Brown, whose nickname is “Abdul Ja’Me,” is the leader of the AHK street gang that is based in suburban Bellwood. He is charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to a foreign terrorist organization. His detention hearing is Nov. 21. Brown was arrested Thursday after federal agents

The discovery of more than 2,200 medically preserved fetal remains at the Illinois house of a late doctor who had performed abortions in Indiana has left authorities in the two states trying to figure out how and why he came to amass such a collection, when he started storing fetuses at his home, and what if any laws were broken.(Snip) As far as storing fetal remains, the law is murky. For starters, Klopfer was performing abortions before a 2016 Indiana law requiring that aborted fetal remains be cremated or buried. Previously, clinics had the option of sending those remains for incineration along with other human tissues and medical waste.
