Los Angeles' budget is in the spotlight as multiple wildfires rage around the city amid revelations that Mayor Karen Bass slashed the fire department's budget last year while prioritizing spending on the city's homeless population. For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion. An analysis by L.A.'s city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

Can't make this up. Mayor Bass is a fish out of water, literally. Now many more of her citizens are literally homeless, having lost their homes to the wild fires. Californistan is Fubared. State leadership is non-existent. Local leadership is likewise non-existent. But that's what the citizenry voted into office. Thank goodness I don't live in Californistan.

It truly is heartbreaking to watch the total incompetence of the democrat party destroy so many lives. However, this is all on the voters in California. The smart ones got out or are getting out. It is, however, heart wrenching to watch the devastation done by a political party that will learn nothing from their utter failure to put common sense above their own virtue signaling agenda. Democrats have proven they should never be positions of power. They are totally incapable of governing and bring only misery, destruction and chaos.

Looks like Los Angeles Mayor Bass’s incompetence relating to her Los Angeles Fire Department decreased funding political agenda, and instead to divert that money to maintain the big homeless population, including illegal aliens who are in the USA unlawfully, actually ended up being a major factor in thousands of productive Los Angeles citizens who owned the homes burned down by the wild fires factually becoming homeless! Only Governor Newsome can beat that incompetence by continuing to make the entire State of California vulnerable to wild fire damage by attempting to save a small fish by diminishing the amounts of water available for suppression of fires in California communities.

Seriously, the last person to be in charge of anything is any member of Congress (both Houses) as they have staffers who write out their questions, etc etc etc. They're good at talking but actually accomplishing anything - forget it. Oh well, the man who ran against Bass - a realtor/developer, I believe, knows how to get things done. Yup - elections have consequences.

But after Karen took from the fire department to give to the homeless half of that additional "homeless money" wasn't even spent.....at least not on the homeless. Wonder where it went. Does it still exist in an account where it can be utilized by the LAFD or did it somehow find itself in the bank accounts of various LA politicians? More theft of taxpayer money?? That's the one thing where dems excel.

To think this woman was being considered as Biden's VP is mind blowing. For Bass to choose a tax payer funded field trip to Ghana over her constituency is malfeasance and incompetence at its highest level. The LA area is deep blue. They'd elect a rock if it was a Democrat. Remember the voters in LA elected, then unelected, the George Soros funded DA George Gascon. I guess all those shoplifting incidents on Rodeo Drive were too much to handle. Not to be cruel in such a tragic time but LA you get what you vote for! Bass needs to resign immediately or be recalled!

All the deep-blue libtards in L.A. are about to learn a hard lesson. This is what happens when you cast your vote while your head is up your arse. Assuming any of them stay in L.A. and try to rebuild, they’re looking at a 3-month wait to get the debris cleared from their property. Then, good luck finding a contractor - get in line. Then, the building permits will take about a year, what with all the “green” regulations put in place by the nutcases they elected. After that, it will take a couple of years to build a new house. Five years from now, half of these lots will still be empty.

Gavin Newsom is coming under fire for slashing California's funding for wildfire and forest resilience by $101 million less than a year before devastating fires tore through Los Angeles. The Democrat California Governor signed the budget cuts into law in June 2024, severing funding from seven programs focused on preventing and battling potential wildfires in the state, reports Newsweek. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass demanded her Fire Department make an extra $49million of budget cuts last week, a leaked memo revealed. This cut is already on top of $17.6million of cuts in her latest budget. The extra cuts, requested just days before fires broke out and devastated swathes of Los Angeles, would have shut down 16 fire stations and crippled the department's ability to respond to emergencies, sources said. [SNIP] The memo is dated January 6, only a day before the devastating Palisades Fire started.

The attack could threaten lives, and the government needed the companies’ help to root out the intruders. What no one at the briefing knew, including Sullivan: China’s hackers were already working their way deep inside U.S. telecom networks, too. Did they know? Did they not know?
