The Jackson Local School District in Massillon is paying a teacher $450,000 to settle a lawsuit over whether to call students by their preferred names and pronouns, which she said violates her religious beliefs. [SNIP] At the beginning of the 2022 school year, two students asked Geraghty to use first names that differed from their legal names to signify a gender identity different from the one they were born with, according to her complaint filed in the U.S. District Court of Northern Ohio. One of the students wanted Geraghty to use different pronouns as well.

School districts will learn, especially superintendents that are elected. Angry parents that vote and have to pay for such stupid actions.

The insurance company paid. The school district skated, Scot free. They will continue to insist on following the insanity of confused children. Nothing was gained, except the teacher got a few bucks towards her retirement.

This does have meaning. It shows other people they can stand up to this insanity. I have friends who teach in liberal areas and so far no one has forced them to this yet.

Spencer Pratt reveals plans to sue the State of California after his home was tragically burnt down in the Pacific Palisades wildfires. On Friday, the former reality star, who is married to Heidi Montag, announced that he intends on filing a lawsuit against California due to their alleged negligence that resulted in the loss of his residence. [SNIP] The father-of-two recalled desperately trying to get help from Los Angeles Fire Department as he watched his property go up in flames. 'They never came. The gate was still locked,' he claimed. 'They never came. I watched from my security cameras until our house burned down. There were no fire trucks.'

California Gov. Gavin Newsom sent a letter to President-elect Donald Trump on Friday, inviting him to come see the effects of the wildfires in Los Angeles for himself. In the letter, Newsom invites Trump to come see the damage, meet with first responders and displaced victims and thank firefighters and emergency personnel for their work. "In the spirit of this great country, we must not politicize human tragedy or spread disinformation from the sidelines," Newsom wrote. "Hundreds of thousands of Americans — displaced from their homes and fearful for the future — deserve to see all of us working in their best interests to ensure a fast recovery and rebuild."

Gavin Newsom is coming under fire for slashing California's funding for wildfire and forest resilience by $101 million less than a year before devastating fires tore through Los Angeles. The Democrat California Governor signed the budget cuts into law in June 2024, severing funding from seven programs focused on preventing and battling potential wildfires in the state, reports Newsweek. Cuts included a $5 million decrease to the CAL FIRE fuel reduction teams, which included funding to pay for vegetation management work by the California National Guard, an analysis by the outlet found.

The Meta chief said in a surprise appearance on the popular podcast that the White House would 'call up our team and scream at them and curse' over social media memes. 'Basically, it just got to this point where we were like no, we're not going to take down things that are true,' Zuckerberg said. 'That's ridiculous.'

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass demanded her Fire Department make an extra $49million of budget cuts last week, a leaked memo revealed. This cut is already on top of $17.6million of cuts in her latest budget. The extra cuts, requested just days before fires broke out and devastated swathes of Los Angeles, would have shut down 16 fire stations and crippled the department's ability to respond to emergencies, sources said. [SNIP] The memo is dated January 6, only a day before the devastating Palisades Fire started.

The fires are still going out here in Los Angeles and new ones are emerging tonight, the Sunset fire and now a fire in Studio City, the air smells of fire and smoke, and the only thing worse is the inept local leadership. And the level of ineptitude is truly mindblowing. [SNIP] Wokeness and DEI led to four lesbians, 3 of them named some variation of Kirstin, running one of the nation’s largest fire departments. The LAFD is very diverse. It’s run by lesbians named Kristin.

Los Angeles' budget is in the spotlight as multiple wildfires rage around the city amid revelations that Mayor Karen Bass slashed the fire department's budget last year while prioritizing spending on the city's homeless population. For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion. An analysis by L.A.'s city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

The Biden administration knew how bad it was and did nothing. Chinese hackers had gained the ability to shut down dozens of U.S. ports, power grids and other infrastructure targets at will, Jake Sullivan told telecommunications and technology executives at a secret meeting at the White House in the fall of 2023, according to people familiar with it. The attack could threaten lives, and the government needed the companies’ help to root out the intruders. What no one at the briefing knew, including Sullivan: China’s hackers were already working their way deep inside U.S. telecom networks, too. Did they know? Did they not know?

Look around you. The future has arrived. Nearly 100 years ago, a group of deep thinkers dared to imagine what life would be like in 2025. [SNIP] English writer H.G. Speaking at a dinner gathering at the Hotel Cecil in London, Wells predicted that global power would rest with confederations of people instead of independent countries. “In a hundred years, there will not be numerous nations, but only three great masses of people — the United States of America, the United States of Europe and China."
