The Supreme Court on Thursday denied President-elect Donald Trump’s bid to delay his Friday morning sentencing in the New York hush money case.
The Supreme Court’s order clears the way for Manhattan judge Juan Merchan to impose the long-awaited sentence on the incoming president. Merchan said he would not give Trump jail time, fines, or probation during the virtual hearing. Scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, the sentencing comes ten days before Trump’s inauguration.
In the Supreme Court’s brief order published Thursday evening, five justices denied Trump’s application for postponing the sentencing date. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh — all of whom were appointed by Republican presidents

The only thing the Democrats/Leftists want is to be able to talk about “convict” Donald Trump. That’s all we’re going to hear until 2028.

Miss Amy seems to be going over to the dark side. Surprising in that Trump went to bat for her appointment--and Trump places a lot of value on loyalty.

Barrett has been a disaster. May as well have been a Biden appointee. I hope whoever recommended her is not included in Trump's upcoming administration.

I am not surprised. There are reasons the court would not take this, as what's wrong is how the law was twisted to allow Trump to be prosecuted. They cannot really act against that until after sentencing. They also tend to stay out of the timing of sentencing, since it technically is not part of a trial's consequences. I expected this exact result, and would have expected it if Thomas or Alito were the Court's head.
Trust me... the hammer will be coming for the 'justice' of the New York courts, very soon.

Barrett is trying to become another Sandra Day OConnor, i.e. another wishy washy liberal. So now we have four female liberals, well five if you count Roberts.

Barrett remains a spineless turn coat. No wonder Mitch helped push her nomination through. I'm sure they had some private "discussions" to assure she wasn't "too conservative".

I am not overly concerned about this. The appeals process is going to decimate the case, the judge, and prosecutors. The SCOTUS blocking the sentencing action would have left all that vileness unsettled. A small loss now, a major triumph later.
I would love to see Merchan sanctioned but the Appeals court can't do that.
However, from a search "while an appeals court cannot directly sanction a judge, they can review a judge's decisions and rulings for legal errors, and if they find egregious misconduct, they can refer the matter to the appropriate judicial conduct commission which has the authority to investigate and potentially sanction the judge, including reprimands, suspension, or removal from office depending on the severity of the misconduct". That's a long path to take but would send the right dope slap message to the lawfare crowd.

Not surprising. Trump hasn't exhausted the appeals process. Which he can't start until after he is fully convicted.

Barrett.
There is a lesson to be learned here about Republican SCOTUS nominations, from O'Connor to the present day. Never again.

The two sleazy Hacks that went with the Commies evidently think the "lawfare, lying, Cheating, and disregarding the Constitution is fine so long as it is an impediment to Trump and the betterment of America.

It was a known conclusion that the Supreme Court would do nothing to stop this Merchan ass wipe.
He should be in jail for interfering with a fair election , he and Bragg both.
Now he gets to play his little gotcha game, but time will tell on him.

After the horrendous results of their refusal to take on the 2020 election fraud, I thought they might take this opportunity to redeem themselves. Guess not.
Note to lefties - call him “convicted felon” all you want. WE DON’T CARE!!!! (Please forgive shouting.)

Well... who is surprised...not me...it's a "control" play by the democrats so they can refer President Trump to a convict....WE the people know what's the game plan by the democrats...but I don't think it's worth much because WE are all excited about 47 in the Oval Office....and WE are well aware of all the tricks New York's prosecutors have played...the fake news has been calling President Trump a felon for more than a year...so who cares....next they will issue a warrant to arrest him while he's in office...they are so pathetic...

Per Poster #6 - - The adolescent and corrupt leftists will have about six months - - in their delusional bubbles - - to drool over President Trump being a "convicted felon."
Then - - the hammer will drop - - the "felonies" will be erased - - and the conspirational miscreants will be in very deep doo-doo. And then it will OUR turn to yock it up.
Pazienza, my friends - - pazienza.

I guess we will find out what the broader scheme is to use the sentencing (official conviction) as a tool to halt the inauguration or to initiate impeachment process. This bs only makes DJT stronger!

Where I come from, "Hush Money" is a polite word for "Blackmail" , which is a crime. So, how does the perpetrator walk off with all that money making the victim the bad guy? I'd like to know so I can do that to one of those lame Democrat politicians.

Perhaps we should find a red state DA to get a class action suite against ALL the biden admin and charge them with felony murder for all the fentanyl deaths in America that happened because of the biden admins open border policy.
Charge them all and throw them in jail for 400 years. I bet if you make EACH DEATH a FELONY you would get hundreds of thousands of felony charges. Grow a spine repubs. Dems will do this again. FIGHT BACK.

Dems maybe you should ask Ashley Biden abt how her father Joey took NASTY showers with her growing up OR the women like Tara Reade who claimed, along w others, that Joey raped her or the other VILE things Joey does that the dems cover up. So dems don't want a rapist in thew WH. Well, they already have 1 and a child molester too. And check out the Office of Compliance Hush Money bill signed in 1995 with 268 settlements so far paid for by OUR tax dollars (17.2 MILLION).
Dems are upset abt Trump and Stormy? At least HE used his own money Conyers and the dems have used OUR tax dollars to help them get re-elected and look pure while being charged with vile deeds by others. Let's be TRANSPARENT and look at the 268 settlements. WHO are the elected leaders who were charged and WE PAID SETTLEMENTS for to keep them in office? I bet dems "settled" w all these people to get RE-ELECTED. Just like they are claiming abt Trump.
I did not know if you were aware of this law that was passed re paying TAX DOLLARS for misconduct of our elected officials. I guess Trump should have paid Stormy with THIS money. Just like Congress does. Here is my response to the article listed above. In 1995 a bill was passed by the Office of Compliance. It allows our elected officials who are charged with discrimination, including sexually, to get paid settlements with OUR TAX DOLLARS. (at least Trump used his own money). As of 2017 there were 268 settlements made and it cost the taxpayers $17.2 MILLION dollars. So if they put Trump in jail for Stormy then ALL of the reps that had charges brought against them should be in jail too. THAT is NOT going to happen.
THIS is no secret. Here is 1 story. https://www.axios.com/2017/12/15/congress-has-paid-17-million-in-sexual-misconduct-and-discrimination-settlements-1513307017
Congress has paid $17.2 million in sexual misconduct and discrimination settlements Amazing how dems are so SELECTIVE in attacking those they want to eliminate and yet they protect their own isn't it? I bet very few people know abt this. Justice for ALL no longer applies to repubs anymore. Dems hide what they they do while accusing repubs of misdeeds.

they are turtle clones and should resign, to be replaced with real conservative justices.

Listening to the 2 supposed conservative Justices it sounds like the Process of how stuff reaches the SCOTUS is more important than REAL Justice. What the hell does that mean????????????????
