Washington — President Biden announced Thursday that for the next six months, the federal government will pay for 100% of the disaster response costs from the wildfires destroying neighborhoods across the greater Los Angeles area. The president also said he'll be asking Congress for more funding to help. (Snip) "I told the governor and local officials, spare no expense," Mr. Biden said, calling the damage "catastrophic." The 100% disaster response coverage from the federal government for the next 180 days is an increase from the current 75% the president previously allotted, and more than the 90% Mr. Biden said California Gov.

Joementum's famous last words - ''Spare no expense''. The already beleaguered taxpayers will be saddled with the enormous bill.

The whole country will be saddled with the bill. Biden does this on the way out the door and if Trump cancels it , he is the bad guy. What other state gets 100% from the US for disasters.

What a complete horse's rear end Biden is. Why should the rest of the country have to pay for the total democrat controlled mismanagement of the state of California's water resources, land resources and fire response resources. Especially when much of the funds California spent were tor DEI and other totally Leftist programs.

What's sad/criminal/tragic is that this fire was entirely predictable and preventable. From LAFD funding, water management, forestry management and those steps homeowners could have taken to mitigate their risk. Wildfires are an annual occurance in southern California. And the steps to mitigate risk are well known.

In fires I dont think there is personal disaster funds available. I think it’s only for fire costs and personnel for the state. Insurance is expected to pay loss of home and possessions. Maybe it’s changed but that’s my prior knowledge.

Remember California is a very liberal Democrat State to who Biden will obligate as much US Government money as possible. But Biden is only going to be the President for ten more days. In a situation like this you have to figure that the House of Representatives would have a big say as to how much Federal money is actually sent to California and not a lame duck politician who will be out of Government in ten days. You have to ask did Biden to the same after the big hurricane ravaged Eastern North Carolina?

In an update Sunday evening, the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner said a total of 24 people have died due to the wildfires. The cases remain under investigation by the department, which noted that only 10 have been confirmed as human remains. Efforts to gain an upper hand against the deadly infernos continued on Sunday as ominous new wind warnings as flames threatened additional Southern California communities.

WASHINGTON - President Joe Biden's administration on Friday renewed deportation relief that currently covers 900,000 immigrants from Venezuela, El Salvador, Ukraine and Sudan, a move that would delay any attempts by President-elect Donald Trump to sunset those protections. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) extended enrollment in the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program for those nations, giving those immigrants a deportation reprieve and access to work permits for an additional 18 months. Biden, a Democrat, greatly increased the number of immigrants eligible for TPS since taking office in 2021. The status, which is available to people whose home country has
