When Katz’s Met the DOJ: The Justice
Department spent 13 years investigating
a neighborhood deli’s bathrooms

In 1888, Katz’s Deli opened on New York City’s Lower East Side. A century after it adopted its current name, the Obama administration began investigating it and other popular restaurants. Most people know Katz’s from a memorable scene in When Harry Met Sally. [SNIP] Katz’s also survived a surge in meat prices, the pandemic and the neighborhood deli has now endured a record 13-year federal investigation. Not for mob ties or racketeering, but for the size of its old-fashioned doors, tables and toilets.

Do I really have to remind New Yorkers that they VOTED FOR THE DEMOCRAT SCUM! Live with it, or vote Republican.

Every so often, but happening more frequently, a posted article will give me chest pains. This is today’s offering. Vivek and Elon have the POTENTIAL to change this country if they can eliminate the mafia goons drawing a government paycheck. Another note: this article highlights deeds carried out under The Kenyan’s watch. But republicans (Nixon, EPA, and Bush, ADA, have contributed mightily to a goon-like atmosphere in government. 2 weeks from tomorrow. And counting.

In a local subdivision the older kids must catch the bus at 6 am at the entrance to the highway. About a year ago the HOA decided to build a shelter for school kids to protect them from the weather and get them off the street. The shelter included a ramp, camera, and lights. A Boy Scout troop and leaders provided the labor and the HOA materials. After a few weeks the shelter was complete and being used. What could go wrong? The insurance company would not provide coverage because it did not meet American with Disabilities Act because it did not have handicap parking! The shelter was torn down and is gone. As President Regan said, "The biggest lie is that I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

I've been in the construction trades since 91. And this is the first time that I have personally been aware of feds essentially acting as code enforcement officers. That's almost always left to the local AHJ's. Further, I can pretty much guarantee that I can go into any federal building older than 20 years old and find code violations. It's no hard. The codes literally come in volumes. That anything larger than a single residence home gets built in this country amazes me.

Poster #1, this is the feds, not the state. Furthermore, it's because of the ADA enacted under the elder Bush administration. We had a local mom and pop farmer's market shut down by our (red) county for similar reasons. There is no one as self important as a government official from either party at any level.

The fires are still going out here in Los Angeles and new ones are emerging tonight, the Sunset fire and now a fire in Studio City, the air smells of fire and smoke, and the only thing worse is the inept local leadership. And the level of ineptitude is truly mindblowing. [SNIP] Wokeness and DEI led to four lesbians, 3 of them named some variation of Kirstin, running one of the nation’s largest fire departments. The LAFD is very diverse. It’s run by lesbians named Kristin.

Los Angeles' budget is in the spotlight as multiple wildfires rage around the city amid revelations that Mayor Karen Bass slashed the fire department's budget last year while prioritizing spending on the city's homeless population. For the 2023-2024 fiscal year, Los Angeles budgeted $837 million for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), which was roughly 65% the size of the homeless budget of $1.3 billion. An analysis by L.A.'s city comptroller last year found that roughly half the budget for homelessness went unspent.

The Biden administration knew how bad it was and did nothing. Chinese hackers had gained the ability to shut down dozens of U.S. ports, power grids and other infrastructure targets at will, Jake Sullivan told telecommunications and technology executives at a secret meeting at the White House in the fall of 2023, according to people familiar with it. The attack could threaten lives, and the government needed the companies’ help to root out the intruders. What no one at the briefing knew, including Sullivan: China’s hackers were already working their way deep inside U.S. telecom networks, too. Did they know? Did they not know?

Look around you. The future has arrived. Nearly 100 years ago, a group of deep thinkers dared to imagine what life would be like in 2025. [SNIP] English writer H.G. Wells, the author of “The Time Machine,” “The War of the Worlds” and “The Invisible Man,” foretold a new world order for 2025. Speaking at a dinner gathering at the Hotel Cecil in London, Wells predicted that global power would rest with confederations of people instead of independent countries. “In a hundred years, there will not be numerous nations, but only three great masses of people — the United States of America, the United States of Europe and China."

The Department of Justice is cracking down on the Drug Enforcement Administration's controversial practice of "consensual encounters" at airports after multiple complaints. The practice includes DEA special agents or task force officers approaching individuals at airports and then asking for consent to search the individual’s belongings. The DOJ's move comes four years after Scripps News Tampa Investigative Reporter Kylie McGivern highlighted the practice of civil asset forfeiture at airports by the DEA. Civil asset forfeiture allows federal agencies to seize cash and other property suspected of being involved in a crime, even if charges are never filed against the owner.

After losing the open borders debate and the election, Democrats and their media stopped arguing that mass migration is a right and that mass deportations violate human rights. 6 out of 10 registered voters were polled in favor of deporting illegal aliens. The American people had spoken. So Democrats and their media instead argued that mass deportations would be too expensive.

Joe Biden is mentally cooked and almost out the door, but he had to do what presidents do during these natural disasters. The wildfires engulfing Los Angeles County is the second inferno Biden has dealt with. He led Maui burn to the ground and took his sweet time visiting the island, whose residents endured the worst wildfire seen in almost a century. The president was briefed on the raging wildfires that have so far killed at least two people, destroyed over 1,000 buildings, forced 70,000 from their homes, and charred close to 30,000 acres. None of the fires have been contained (via CBS News):

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass became stone-faced when confronted by a reporter as she returned to America to find her city burning Wednesday. “Do you owe citizens and apology for being absent while their homes were burning, and do you regret cutting the Fire Department budget by millions of dollars madame mayor?” Sky News reporter David Blevins asked as Bass waited to deplane. “Have you absolutely nothing to say to the citizens today?” he added. (Photos) Bass — standing a few feet away on the plane’s ramp as she awaited clearance to leave — stared blankly as Belvins questioned her, refusing to provide an answer or even acknowledge his presence.
