Rand Paul angrily confronted Joe Biden's pick for assistant secretary for Health and Human Services on Thursday, likening gender changes surgeries to genital mutilation and pushing the transgender nominee on if they would allow minors to decide if they want to go on hormones to stop puberty. 'We should be outraged that someone is talking to a three-year-old about changing their sex,' Paul said of Rachel Levine, a transgender woman Biden picked to help head up HHS. Paul, who was a practicing ophthalmologist before becoming a U.S. senator, likened transgender minors starting on transitioning treatments to genital mutilation, blaming the increasing rates of trans-identified youth on 'the social pressure to conform.'

May 31st was an ugly day in Des Moines, Iowa, as hateful mobs of Black Lives Matter extremists smashed and looted their way across Merle Hay Mall. A protest the day before had smashed up the Polk County Courthouse, shattering windows and spraying it with graffiti. Near the mall, small business owners got out their guns and stood outside closed stores. Iowa State Rep. Ako Abdul-Samad, a former Black Panther and chair of the American Muslim Alliance, a group once considered so extreme that Hillary Clinton had returned its donations, played a key role in the BLM protest. Samad had opposed a bill targeting antisemitism.

An Ohio Senate bill that seeks to catch fraud among people applying for and receiving social services will result in increased work for county case workers, as well as fewer low-income people obtaining food aid, Medicaid and unemployment benefits, advocates for the poor said Wednesday. Senate Bill 17 requires case workers to cross-check applicants and enrollees against state data such as new hire records, wage records, lottery winnings and death records, said sponsor Sen. Tim Schaffer, a Lancaster Republican. Schaffer held up pictures during Wednesday’s Ohio Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee of food aid debit cards he said were found by investigators in drug houses.

Former President Barack Obama claimed reparations for black Americans are 'justified' but explained in his podcast with Bruce Springsteen that it was a 'nonstarter' during his presidency because of 'white resistence'. [SNIP] 'There’s not much question that the wealth of this country, the power of this country was built in significant part, not exclusively, maybe not even the majority of it, but a large portion of it was built on the backs of slaves.'

NBC continues to face criticism for a series of incidents that have been labeled "anti-Semitic," with a scene from the show "Nurses" taking heat for a scene that has been widely condemned for the way it portrayed a Hasidic patient who refused a bone graft from a "goyim," an Arab or a woman. [SNIP] "For those of you unfamiliar with Jewish law, which puts precedent on healing and saving lives, there is no prohibition on the kind of bone graft in this clip. The writers made it up, dressed their actors in Jew-face, and put random extremist nonsense in their mouths," [Seffi] Kogen wrote.

Two prominent U.S. senators have criticized Amazon’s heavy-handedness in erasing a bestselling book by scholar Ryan Anderson on transgenderism. Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) have blasted the online tech giant for its overt censorship of uncomfortable ideas by de-listing Dr. Anderson’s When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment. “American oligarchs, cheered on by leftist politicians, are conducting digital book burnings,” Rubio tweeted Tuesday. “@Amazon banned a thoughtful & well researched book on a complicated issue.”

Case Western Reserve University will launch a First Amendment Clinic, which will offer experience for third-year law students and free legal services for individuals and institutions. [SNIP] “We are incredibly excited that the Stanton Foundation is supporting this vital work in Cleveland and the Midwest,” Clinic Director Andrew Geronimo said in a press release. “The First Amendment protects our rights to speak and publish freely, and to gather and document information about how our government works. These issues are especially important today, when the media landscape is in flux, politicians are openly hostile to journalism and other public oversight, and speech-chilling lawsuits fill the news.”

There is currently about $7 billion in Iranian assets frozen in two banks based in Seoul, blocked by U.S. economic sanctions. Korea’s foreign ministry confirmed on Tuesday that a deal had been reached to free those assets. “Our government has been in talks with Iran about ways to use the frozen assets, and the Iran side has expressed its consent to the proposals we have made,” the ministry said in a statement.

A public school system in New York has introduced a new curriculum to teach that 'all white people play a part in perpetuating systemic racism', and show kindergarten classes videos of black children shot and killed by police, instructing them about the dangers of police brutality. Buffalo's schools are expected to follow lesson plans devised by Fatima Morrell, the associate superintendent for Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Initiatives. Morrell's lesson plans, obtained by City Journal, teach pupils and their teachers how to be, in her words, more 'woke.'

Last month, President Biden signed a series of executive orders undermining fossil fuels, on the grounds the “climate crisis” forced his hand. “We can’t wait any longer. We see with our own eyes. We know it in our bones. It is time to act.” Within days, most of the country was seeing “with our own eyes” and feeling “in our bones” a cold wave so severe that five million people lost electricity and, in a special irony, nearly half of the ballyhooed wind turbines in Texas, which had risen to supply 23% of her energy, were left frozen (and inoperable).

Biden’s latest move toward a less stringent immigration system will feature a change in the required civic examination citizenship applicants must take. Announced in a Policy Alert on Monday, the civics examination requirement implemented in December 2020 will switch to an earlier version implemented in 2008. The 2020s civic exam featured 128 possible questions on the exam. With Biden’s new order, it will switch to the 100 possible questions seen in the 2008 version. Some content will be altered as well. The policy alert did not specify what these changes would be.
