But the most disturbing revelation of these clearly organized riots throughout the country has been seeing the thousands of people in all the affected cities who feel they have a right to steal that which does not belong to them. KEY LARGO, Fla. — The Florida Keys reopened for visitors Monday after the tourist-dependent island chain was closed for more than two months to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. As the Keys took down barriers, Miami-Dade County decided to keep its beaches closed because of protests in South Florida and across the country over the May 25 death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Roadblocks were taken down shortly after midnight near Key Largo, the northernmost island in the chain. Almost half of all workers in the Keys are employed by hotels, bars and other hospitality industries, and many of the rest are involved in commercial and sport fishing.

Before Monday, President Trump kept a low profile regarding the riots. He wasn’t invisible; he just wasn’t putting himself front and center. That changed dramatically on Monday. Trump scolded governors who allowed rioters to gain control in their states, announced that he would be mobilizing “all available federal resources” to end the riots in Democrat-run cities, and took a historic walk across the street from the White House (which inflamed the Trump haters). Someone leaked to CBS News audio of a phone call that Trump had with the nation’s governors. In it, in typical Trumpian language, he essentially told them that if they don’t alpha up with the rioters

It was highly unusual for the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals to order Judge Emmett Sullivan to explain his refusal to grant General Michael Flynn’s motion to dismiss. That made it easy to miss that it also allowed the Department of Justice the right to file a brief supporting its petition. Sullivan filed his pathetic and dishonest brief on Monday. The DOJ’s brief, however, is filled with devastating facts and entirely on-point legal authority. What makes it even more compelling is its front page, which is weighted with the names of big guns. The DOJ is taking this matter very seriously.

(snip) Sullivan apparently felt he was not up to the task of explaining his own legal analysis, so he hired one of Washington’s fixers – Beth Wilkinson. He should have saved his money. Wilkinson’s brief (which you can read here) is a joke. Additionally, Wilkinson has abandoned any pretense that Sullivan is impartial. This is an attack brief against Flynn.

The riots that began in Minneapolis are the intended consequence of the fake history dished out by our media, Hollywood, and most colleges and public schools for the past 50 years. This new “institutional racism” falsely blames all whites for every injustice -- especially whites who are Christian, Republican or who love America. These whites are the new Jews. Minneapolis is the new Kishinev. In 1903, Kishinev was part of Russia and ruled by an emperor, the Czar. Just before Easter, a non-Jewish girl there was depressed and swallowed poison. George Floyd was killed by police in Minneapolis, a liberal city (the New York Times calls it “one of America’s most liberal cities”) in a liberal state (that hasn’t voted for a Republican for president since 1972). In 2017, Larry Jacobs, a professor at the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs, observed that “In Minneapolis, we have one of the most liberal activist agendas in the U.S. They are seeking to

Clueless commentators, ignorant of its history, have been known to refer to the "antifa" movement as “strictly principled anti-fascists,” or a group that “protests fascism.” In fact, this is a movement of violent extremists whose philosophy traces back to the early 20th century. The riots now raging in U.S. cities are not about police misconduct. They haven’t been for many days. Certainly, every American can be expected to condemn prejudice, racial hatred, and unjust discrimination. There is widespread agreement in our society that racism is a bad thing, and therefore it may be assumed that everyone reading this was horrified by the video of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis. Four police officers involved in Floyd’s arrest were dismissed from the force, and one of them, Derek Chauvin, has been charged with third-degree murder.

As a columnist and pundit, it’s usually a lot easier to hammer out good content on small, self-contained items. Some politician says something stupid. Some economic study pops out and either destroys or reinforces some narrative. And so forth. But the events of the last week, in which a bad Minneapolis cop killed an arrestee by kneeling on his neck — which practically everybody in America agrees was a criminal act deserving criminal charges, and those charges came to Derek Chauvin by the end of last week — and then almost three dozen cities erupted in violence purportedly as a result, make it a lot more difficult to offer punditry.

Restoring order to America’s cities isn’t a complicated proposition. All it requires is resources and determination, and a firm rejection of the longstanding progressive fallacy that an overwhelming police presence is “provocative” and “escalatory” and must be avoided. As has been established across decades of civil disturbances, it is police passivity that emboldens mobs. When the cops stand by, or don’t show up or, even worse, run away, it is a permission slip for destruction. They might as well supply the spray paint, bricks and hammers for the crowds, and beckon them into the local Target or Nike store to take whatever they want.
