An 82nd Airborne Division’s Immediate Response Force battalion arrived to Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland Monday evening for a civil unrest mission in the nation’s capitol, according to sources. The IRF battalion — which deployed to Iraq earlier this year to quell Iran-backed violence — brought approximately 750 soldiers, ten Black Hawk helicopters, and four Chinooks, according to sources. The helicopters are utility, not attack, and are used to transport troops short distances. The aircraft are just one of the ways troops could be transported, but would give the IRF the ability to rapidly deploy to a number of locations in the D.C. Metro area quickly.

If the 82nd Airborne is deployed inside the perimeter fence of the White House to keep the building safe it will drive the leftist and liberal Democrats nuts. Look for the Democrats to commence another impeachment investigation against President Trump for ordering such a deployment. Clearly the Democrats are ignoring the criminal riots believing they will hurt Trump in the November election.

Are we serious yet? This is good if they drop the first fool with a flaming rag wrapped around a bottle of gas. It will be real when every filthy rat politician who endorses these terrorists is ARRESTED. That means the mayor of NYC and the Speaker of the House, along with head rat, Schumer. Meanwhile, any softheaded fool who thinks this is a game and runs along side someone with a brick in their hand, deserves what the criminal gets.
I just had a flashback to Chicago and the police throwing Dan Rather out of the convention hall. Come on Dan, get out there and 'report' from the streets.

The 82nd Airborne...'When the paratroopers found the journal of a German officer killed at Anzio, they knew their hard-charging, hard-fighting spirit had made a lasting impact on the Germans.
"American paratroopers – devils in baggy pants – are less than 100 meters from my outpost line. I can't sleep at night; they pop up from nowhere and we never know when or how they will strike next. Seems like the black-hearted devils are everywhere…"
The baggy pants referred to the paratroopers' uniforms, which differed greatly from the regular infantry whose pants were "straight legged."
The men of the 504th were so enthralled with the German officer's words that they christened themselves the Devils in Baggy Pants – a nickname they carry to this day.
My dad was in the 82nd Airborne. He took part in D-Day. Was wounded in France and sent back to England and then home. He never spoke much about what happened but he sure was proud to be a member of the Devils in Baggy Pants.
The rioters should be given a history of the 82nd Airborne. If the Nazis were scared of the Devils, they might think twice about starting anything.

Exactly what will they be authorized to do? The military is trained to conduct war. They're not trained to stand there and have rocks, bottles and incendiaries hurled at them by punks. If they respond with overwhelming force then the Left will have what it wants.
The situation has devolved into a hobson's choice. Either we use the force necessary to stop the insurrection or let it continue to destroy us. If we use the necessary force it is possible, but in no way certain, that Americans will understand and support the action in spite of the demedia full-throated cries of 'racist dictator'. If we do not use force it is even more likely that the carnage and destruction will continue and many more Americans will see their lives and fortunes disintegrate.

I think this is a war on America... directed and paid for by _____? So fight it like a war... enemy combatants get captured or shot. They are terrorists engaged in destroying our country. And put any captures where Leftist states cannot merely turn them loose!

I think deployment of the 82nd in Washington would be high risk for the president. All it would take would be one death to a rioter and it would be reported like Kent State. Regardless, theyll claim that he's using the Army to fight off innocent protesters.

FAR: ''Exactly what will they be authorized to do? ''
They will be authorized to repulse attacks, subdue and hold attackers that refuse orders, and even shoot to kill if attackers are foolish enough to get close to the President. The IRF is highly trained and has many options for responding to rioters. They are not going to be standing around just for show.
Give the democrats what they want? Maybe what they think they want, but that is not a consideration. The IRF will certainly give law-abiding citizens what they want!
President Trump does not cave to democrat desires, and does not allow the media to rule the safety and security of the Capitol. Governors of all states should follow his example!

You have to remember that the 82nd is filled with highly disciplined fighters. They are not going to just fly off the handle and commit massive carnage at the drop of a hat. They have years of training and they know how to handle these situations.
We have a friend whose entire army career was with the 82nd and military intelligence. He retired as a colonel. From what I have learned from him over the years, I have complete faith in the 82nd.

It has come to this. America's enemies worldwide have converged on us to try to teach us a lesson for not conforming to the new world order. The only reason we call this an insurrection and not a civil war is because we the people have not engaged in the battle yet to defeat antifa and the other hate organizations who have come here to take the country down.

Why has the 82nd Airborne been deployed to the Whitehouse?
- Because the President had to be moved to a bunker for his safety.
- Over 50 Secret Service agents were injured.
- The President's request for National Guard help was turned down.
- Apparently little or no help from DC police.
Prove to me this wasn't an attempt to assassinate the President or remove him from office. It reminds me of Benghazi except the Whitehouse was better defended. With the 82nd Airborne, the President is trying to ensure this does not happen again. Hopefully the Airborne hasn't been subverted like so many other things.

Remember, President Trump formally declared “Antifa” a terrorist organization.
The 82nd can deal with them as a "terrorist threat".

I am stunned at the lack of history knowledge in this country. In September, 1957, President Eisenhower ordered the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army to Little Rock, ARK to protect nine African American students enrolled in the local high school. Not only that, but the President also federalized the Arkansas National Guard, taking them out of Governor Faubus' control. In May 1992,
California's Gov. Pete Wilson requested the US military be sent to help with the Rodney King/LA riots.
All these politicians and pundits don't have a clue what they are pontificating about. From the Insurrection Act:
"Whenever the President considers that unlawful obstructions, combinations, or assemblages or rebellion against authority of United States makes it impracticable to enforce the law of the United States in any State or territory by judicial proceedings, the President may call into Federal service the militia of any State and use the Federal military to enforce the laws or suppress the rebellion."

I read that one idea the US military has in dealing with the demonstrations/riots is using the choppers at very low distance, essentially stationing themselves right above, and near the demonstrators.
What a brilliant idea! No one gets hurt, except maybe they lose thier hearing.
The crowds will be sure to disburse quickly.

Stay safe military folks! Man, the sound of Black Hawks scare me when I watch them in a movie. I can't imagine what it is like when they are right above you. Devil in Baggy Pants, thank you for your service. I wish I could give the command to shot to kill to take out these feral rioting goons, but alas we have to stay civilized. BUT if they attack you, you have my blessings to take 'em out! Stay safe.

Thanks for the history lesson poster #26. I was a small child and watched those children being harassed by cops and people lining up shouting at them.
I just want to make a small correction to your post, I hope you don't mind.
The [Republican] President Eisenhower also federalized the Arkansas National Guard, taking them out of the [democrat] Governor Faubus' control.

Thank you for your memories, #10, of those awesome men of the 82nd! My dear husband was in the 13th Armored Black Cats in the Ruhr at the same time your dad was being a baggy pants devil. God bless their memory. All they left us was this great hunger for FREEDOM! and the Red, White and Blue and their honored memory..

The key that most people have not addressed on this forum are the Rules of Engagement. The 82nd's IRF (Immediate Response Force) is a good unit (I spent some time, in the late 70s with the Division Artillery.
Who, and under what circumstances, will the troops be allowed to engage (and to what extent) the rioters?
Is the CO of the IRF authorized to give orders without recourse to civilians? The answers are critical.
Oh yeah, and this is serious, are the troops issued live ammo? If so, are their weapons loaded with the live ammo? The answers to the ammo questions should be close hold. The rioters should assume that they're facing lead instead of rubber bullets.
