When looters threatened to bring their mayhem and destruction from the city of Chicago to my suburb on Sunday, our town’s leadership acted quickly. Snow plows were used to block access to the major shopping mall and big-box outlets; police SUVs and undercover cars patrolled heavily-traveled streets carrying cops with riot gear. Stores and restaurants, which had just reopened on Friday after a nearly three-month shutdown, closed again. Suspicious cars congregating in vacant parking lots adjacent to strip malls were hustled away. Our police chief—Tim McCarthy, the secret service agent who took a bullet for Ronald Reagan in 1981 and saved the president’s life—could be heard

NO more tax dollars to save this liberal cities. They are on their own. This is their doing and I'm tired of cleaning up their crap. If they can't manage on all levels, then the h3ll with them. Let the cities under democrat rule crumble. Not my problem.

When you elect democrat mayors and governors who have no courage, no moral character, and who think that the destruction of property is fine as long as it is not theirs then you literally reap what sow...these democrat politicians provide legal top cover for their paramilitary arm BLM and ANTIFA in the streets...like the Democrat Party did for the KKK in the 1870's...same idea bully and intimidate everyone who doesn't agree with you....so YES don't bail out those who have caused their own problems let them embrace their own suck

There are mayors, and there are state governors who have a National Guard at their disposal for civil disorders. Suggesting sending in the 101st Airborne or Marines is boob bait.
As Mencken said, “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.“
People voted for this; let them enjoy their choices.

Completely agree. I’ve worked and paid taxes for almost 50 years so that these lowlifes could collect all their government checks while they sit around in their $400 sneakers watching the flatscreen all day. That has been my “white privilege”. Enough!
If they want their neighborhoods re-built, let them invest in it themselves with their own labor, sweat and EARNED income.

To bail them out again is just enabling them. No more hard earned tax money should go to these cities and states that are run into the ground by democrat policies. This has to stop because it is not fair to the well run states and cities. Throwing good money after bad is just ignorant. Clearly, they have the ear of the media and entertainment industries, go begging to them. The rest of us are tapped out.

If the BLUE was pulled and they were left to *police* themselves, we would see an internal collapse by revolt against the Democrat Party like you would never see!

Liberal politicians are very concerned about injustices. Can cities run for years by liberal politicians tells us of some of their successes in correcting injustices? I would assume there have been many, but I don't hear then crowing about them. I wonder if some of their attempts actually made things worse?

excellent article....I live in a western suburb of Chicago and the looters were going to try and hit our local WalMart....I just knew my town's cops were not going to let that happen....our DuPage county leadership said you will be arrested and prosecuted if you do anything in our towns. We are ready to send them back to Chicago to create more mayhem there, not here....

Totally agree. The Democrats have always been soft on crime and on criminals. Their strategy of having the police stand down so the looters can have "space to destroy" (actually stated in Baltimore) is insane. But if the voters of such cities and states are fine with that, then they can pick up the pieces and pay for the repairs themselves.
No federal bailouts for blue cities/states!

In six months we will be hearing all the gnashing of teeth here in Mpls about the poor neighborhoods that were burned down and how we must pay to rebuild. No way!!! No legitimate business is going to rebuild in this area again. It is the second time (and I believe the last) that it has burned. Now they will sit with the cards they have dealt themselves! Good luck, buddy!

#10, I don't wonder if some of their attempts have actually made things worse, I know they have. And there's a point in life-- I think it's called growing up-- when one has to learn that one's actions have natural consequences. Hopefully a lot of Dem voters are learning that, and growing up. It's that old saw: A conservative is a liberal who's been mugged.

"Those" (surely just not composed only of Democratic voters) despite their loser Democratic status, make up part of the large fiber of America. Trump's "rescuing" these cities is "rescuing" America. To abandon these cities and their innocent citizens whose very lives may be at risk - are at risk, and their small and larger businesses (weren't we going to start re-building the economy nationally during/after Covid?) is inexcusable. What's more it would be a dereliction of our Commander and Chief's duty to protect ALL American citizens whatever state they are living in.
So, so very many of the writers below continue to state "They are on their own." need to re-think their partisan stance. - This country, Red or Blue states, comprise our nation. And if we encourage such a frightening abandonment of them from our President, well, you can imagine who will be knocking on EVERY state's door next. All of America will become an inferno. Trump is protecting us all.

The only Federal money that should be sent to the Democrat run inner cities should be specifically designated to support public safety. Those leftist and liberal Democrat politicians who were too cowardly to immediately stop the riots should be left to stew in their own juices.

I live in NYS and I absolutely believe that federal taxpayers should not bail out fiscally irresponsible states. Cuomo had a budget problem long before this scamdemic hit. But, as the President said yesterday, he is the president of all the people.
I don't agree with Ms. Kelly that he should not send help to quell the blue state riots. Again I agree that these governors have allowed the so-called protest situation to get out of hand. But, there are vulnerable people in those cities that are unable today to get food and medicine because of these riots. Our beloved President is not a politician which is exactly why we love him as much as we do. He is an empathetic man and he will help those who need his help even as he knows they will vote against him on November 3.
He needs to send in the army. And I wouldn't worry about our beloved military. Having faced down terrorists in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, these panty waist Antifa thugs won't know what hit them. Send 'em in Mr. President!

Not only should the President not rescue blue cities, he should not bail out failing red cities, either. I struggle to find equality before the law, but it doesn't make the search any easier to set the two camps against each other by pulling my money out of your pocket. Or visa versa.

I disagree.
It's becoming more and more expensive for retired NYC subway workers and retired NYC school janitors and retired NYC pols to live in gated communities in Florida. How are they supposed to live the Good Life - - if their pensions aren't jacked up every year?
So - - reach into your pockets - - reach down deep - - and rescue these poor souls.

Minneapolis, Chicago and NYC. Hello, Nuevo Baltimore. If you won't let your cops enforce the law, you will have even more anarchy and poverty.
No tax dollars to rebuild those places. Enough is enough. Let them sit in their own filth for a while and know that what surrounds them was not inflicted by "privileged" whites.

I feel sorry for blacks. One bad cop incorrectly kills so there is a legitimate protest. But, Black Lives Matter has now become blacks can do whatever without penalty. Their peaceful protests have been hijacked by anarchists so blacks are the excuse. They are being used. I wouldn't be surprised if police and firemen refuse to go into cities and they will burn. Just remember who voted in the liberal politicians and what the promised their voters.

My nerves ( along with my reflexes ) aren't what they once were, so I occasionally stop reading 'the news' for a while.
All this talk / speculation / encouragement of 'sending in military forces' causes me to ask -
What happened to the Posse Comitatus Act which explicitly forbids using the military for domestic problems ?
Or at least it used to.
That little detail fall by the wayside in our relentless 'progressive' march to the edge and probably over the edge of the cliff ??

I agree and I would be consistent across the board. Austin, Houston and Dallas whose leaders are fruitcakes should also not be rewarded with Texas tax dollars except for bare bottom emergency basics.

#29 - The Insurrection Act is the exception to Posse Comitatus.
Viscerally, I don't want a dime of federal money spent on Dim cities, but my brain is agreeing with #20. It would be a sin to leave the vulnerable victims of commie malfeasance to suffer consequences not of their making. Those that legitimately voted probably punched the card for Dim, but can anyone argue they were informed votes? Its a proven fact of life that the Dims use the inner city precincts as their vote harvesting silos. How many are real votes? Are voters given any meaningful choice? Can we with good conscience say these people deserve to be abandoned yet again? However, any federal funds given to Dim states and cities should have have ropes attached rather than the usual strings.
Our Republic is in grave danger. Our domestic enemies that operated in the shadows have become emboldened in their desperation. I trust God and firmly believe President Trump is held in His Hands. To paraphrase Melanie Wilkes in GWTW; this is not the first time Donald Trump has come between us and disaster. I will not question any device of his.

#28, you apparently AREN'T old enough to know better. Have you not heard the policies advocated by the leaders of BLM? The distortions of facts, the lies?
And while we're on the subject... The cop's behavior with Floyd was/is indefensible, but I have yet to hear any real evidence at all that indicaties the cop targeted Floyd b/c he was black. I have known of rogue cops who were abusive to everyone they interacted with, regadless of skin color. Maybe I've missed something-- and maybe the cop WAS racist-- but just making that assumption w/o evidence seems absurd, and plays into the propaganda of the Left.

I'm with Tom Cotton. Send in the 101st Airbourne Division.
People want to see strength in our leaders. The Antifa are trained terrorists who want to destroy are cities and disrupt our way of life. They don't care about George Floyd. They're society's misfits and angry losers who have banded together in hate.
It's time to get to the bottom of who they are and who is dictating them. We need to start setting traps and GPS devices on their vehicles.
We also need to have a fearless person with a megaphone that will stand up in these riot torn areas and start calling the shots. A tough guy with a loud voice.... a commander in chief for this mission. Not Trump, but a someone who he has selected and has the experience to lead this mission.
Squishy politicians not accepted.
We need to take control of the situation with force. Having a attitude about blue states are not are problem is a recipe for disaster.
