New York State's top prosecutor is threatening to sue President Trump if he follows through on his threat to deploy the United States military to put down domestic protests that were sparked by the police-involved killing of George Floyd. 'The President of the United States is not a dictator, and President Trump does not and will not dominate New York state,' Attorney General Letitia James said in a statement on Monday. 'In fact, the president does not have the right to unilaterally deploy US military across American states.'

Insurrection act, 1897, gives president this right. NYAG can pound sand.

Fun Fact for you non-New-Yorkers. When she ran for NYC mayor last time, she falsified her age----and was caught. (I think was 53, claimed she was 49---as if that would make any difference.) If you lie once, you'll lie about anything.

Maybe New York residents are happy to see their city looted and burned. It's a nice change after being ground zero for coronavirus deaths. Just don't let Trump ''interfere'' with the way they run things.

#1: Exactly right! And she is an Attorney General? She should know she would lose that law suit in a hurry. She about as much an authority on law as Obama the so-called constitutional attorney.

The smug liberals of NYC, Albany, Buffalo and Rochester don't care how incompetent she is. She is a reflection of their drooling stupidity, but also the poster girl for the absolute lawless tyranny of the Thug cuomo. Somewhere people like this are put aside or put in prison, but not in cuomo's liberal paradise.

That's right. The President is not a dictator. He was elected by the American people in 2016 to carry out the duties of the President of the United States among which are being the Commander in Chief of the United States military. He is also sworn to protect and defend the U.S. Constitution from enemies, both foreign AND domestic.

Ironic she announces this, figuratively, in the middle of the burning cinders of one of the renowned shopping meccas of the world, 5th avenue. She needs to concentrate on the mass murderer of the elderly if she wants something to do, Governor Pierced Nipples Cuomo.

Ironically, her stated reason is exactly the same as Robert E Lee's. He opposed federal troops in Virginia without the state having given permission. He did this prior to the creation of the Insurrection act, so at least his reasoning had a more solid basis.

In cases of insurrection, where local authorities have not been able to quell violence, he may declare Martial Law and send in the military. If he feels the actions of officials contributed to the unrest, he can arrest them, too. That includes media, police, elected officials.
You Democrats may just have stepped in it.

Then don't ask for federal dollars to rebuild. If you let people riot then don't ask ME for dollars to clean it up.

here we have a justice official who has less knowledge of the Nation's laws that just plain citizens who read, watch, and hear the news. Blue State blues.

Well let’s not waste a lot of money on lawyers and soldiers. The President should just end the rioting in the states who want the riots ended. See! It’s that simple. I’ll just bet the President had that in mind in the first place. He was just being polite by offering and didn’t want to be accused of discrimination.

In a word, NO. The President is the CIC of the military and his primary responsibility is national defense. Since New York has done such a pathetic job of protecting itself from both coronavirus and these rioters, the military should be used and used hard. Since the city is already a disaster I would not hesitate to use the big stuff.

How interesting that the AG of NY is more concerned for the looters than for the law abiding citizen.

These blue states have been acting seditiously for a while now.
As if they think they are separate countries.
Which is why I thought when the Navy ended the Comfort mission in NYC,
they should have rotated in Enterprise!
You know, just for effect.

IF Pres Trump doesn't stop the rioting/looting/arson etc. then the Leftists will beat him over the head for that.
What a sick bunch of Wacko's to make everything negative about a President that is SOLVING PROBLEMS...like the LEFT NEVER DOES!

Go ahead, make our day. Bring it, sister - and provide President Trump the opportunity to challenge the authority of hand-picked activist judges by ignoring any restraining "order" given. SCOTUS will be forced by the liberals to promptly weigh in and finally take sides in this matter. However they rule, SCOTUS does not have an army. It's time for a Constitutional showdown - bigtime.
Pelosi and Schumer will push impeachment and removal of Trump? That would be to Trump's advantage: NOvember 3rd draws near. Then WE get to weigh in.

I can't decide if Trump is lucky or a genius. Either way, his opposition is so deranged in their hatred that they side with thugs and anarchists.
