More Americans have died from COVID-19 during President Biden‘s first nine months in office than during the first nine months of the pandemic under Donald Trump’s presidency, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. Despite widely available vaccines and Mr. Biden‘s pledge to handle the coronavirus better than his predecessor after taking office Jan. 20, Johns Hopkins’ Coronavirus Research Center reported that, as of Wednesday afternoon, 353,000 Americans had died this year. That surpassed the 352,000 who died from March 2020, when the pandemic started, to December, when the Food and Drug Administration first gave emergency authorization for vaccines. U.S. employers added just 194,000 jobs in September, falling short of expectations for the second month in a row. Friday's report from the Labor Department also showed that the unemployment rate fell sharply to 4.8 percent from 5.2 percent in August. Economists surveyed by Refinitiv were expecting the US to add 500,000 new jobs and the unemployment rate to slip to 5.1 percent.(Snip)Goldman Sachs estimates that about 1.5 million people have retired who wouldn't have before the pandemic upended the economy. In 1787, an imperial Russian governor named Grigory Potemkin constructed a pretty village facade, a theatre set, actually, that's since become known as a Potemkin Village. His aim was to fool the passing empress, Catherine the Great, into thinking all was well on her journey through war-ravaged Crimea, when in fact it was not. It now looks like the White House has viewed that story as a how-to guide -- this time, to fool the passing voters. According to Ed Morrissey at Hot Air: Today's deep question: Why does Biden use a stage set instead of the White House? The “fake set” question first came up a week ago,

What if people weren't subjected to nonstop body count and 'case' tallies? What if they didn't know about the hyper-wrong, grossly inflated death projections in early 2020 from that mathematical virus model and its always-wrong author in England? What if we hadn't had a similarly accuracy-challenged little Fauci-gnome-man spreading fear and hysteria? What if the CDC hadn't illegally changed the death coding requirements in early 2020 to count anyone dying with COVID-19 as dying from COVID-19?

Global food prices have reached a decade high and increased for the second month in a row in September, according to a Thursday report from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The FAO Food Price Index (FFPI), which measures the monthly change in international prices of a basket of food commodities, averaged 130.0 points in September 2021 — that rate is 32.1 points higher than the same month last year and up 1.5 points from August. The FFPI has not reached these levels since 2011 when it hit 131.9.The increase was largely spurred by “tightening supply conditions and robust demand for staples such as wheat and palm oil,” the FAO reported.

As we noted weeks ago, and the mainstream press has only now begun to acknowledge, new cases of COVID peaked at the beginning of September, and have been on a downtrend ever since. Cases are falling in Texas, in Florida, and other states that dared put their residents’ freedoms above Biden’s dictates. Suddenly what had looked in November like a narrow Biden victory and congress split between parties was total Democrat power. Sort of. Pressure to get vaccinated against covid is immense. Liberals demand that non-vaccinated people be denied medical care. In New York, you aren’t supposed to be able to enter a bar or restaurant without a certificate of vaccination. Questioning of the efficacy or desirability of vaccination is banned on social media. And Joe Biden says the fight against covid will be won when 97% or 98% of our population has been vaccinated, an impossible figure. Despite all of the hoopla, it is pretty obvious that the vaccines are not working as well as had been hoped. Originally, it was understood that being vaccinated would prevent you from getting covid.

Democrats are political animals. They don’t give a darn who they run over in their quest for power, even if that includes one of their own. You would have thought that Democrats would have come out strongly in condemning Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) being harassed. While Joe Biden superficially said he didn’t think the tactics were appropriate, he normalized it saying it was “part of the process” and “happens to everybody.” Of course, the activists were acting on behalf of his bill, as well. Democrats were very quiet when it came to any criticism of Sinema’s harassment.
