American fascism?

Fascism is a nebulous term which people throw around as a pejorative, even for minor things. When asked what they mean by fascism, they're at a loss. Like the word 'racist,' 'fascism' or 'fascist' is typically used by liberals and their ilk to smear their opponents and to cut off debates. As for those who seriously write about fascism, each seems to have their own definition. Perhaps George Orwell said it best in 1946: "The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far as it signifies 'something not desirable.'"

The author's point is well made. A small number of people have taken over the mass media. This enemy of the people is running the government, the educational institutions, the entertainment media and the news media. Thank god for the internet, or we would never have a medium to give any audience to contrary thoughts. This is why the left is now so strongly trying to channel all discussion into a few "tech" forums and then censor that discussion.

This regime is also getting the churches to do their bidding. A priest in South Carolina recently separated the vaxxed and the unvaxxed in the congregation. Furthermore, he allowed a COVID clinic onto church property. Priests are hesitant to allow pro-lifers onto church property to distribute pro-life literature because of the "separation of church and state." But they welcome fear mongering COVID devotees onto church property. Unbelievable!! Come, Lord Jesus!!

A recent Fox News poll reported that 59% of Democrats have a favorable view of socialism compared with 49% who have a favorable view of capitalism. A few weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi, while speaking at an event in London, commented that capitalism has not served our country as well as it should. [SNIP] We have the illusion of choice when making a purchase or hiring a service, but, in fact, the choices are limited. The four largest airlines control 65% of air travel, and because one of the four usually dominates a regional hub, there is even less competition within a region.

Tucker Carlson sent the Left into a predictable frenzy of self-righteous rage this week by making a true, but politically incorrect, observation. The invasion that is unfolding at the southern border, Carlson said, is purposeful. Joe Biden and his Democratic allies have embraced open borders because they want to change America’s racial demographics. [snip] “Folks like me who are Caucasian, of European descent, for the first time in 2017 we’ll be in an absolute minority in the United States of America, absolute minority,” he said. “That’s not a bad thing, that’s a source of our strength.” Biden is not alone in his belief that white displacement is an inexorable destiny worth celebrating.

If you’ve been thinking of buying a house, you’ve probably noticed that house prices are soaring everywhere, not just in the usual preferred zip codes. You might have thought this is simply because of market deformations thanks to COVID and the lockdowns. In fact, the soaring prices reflect something much more sinister: Blackrock, an investment company is buying up housing stock, turning America into a nation of renters – that is, people with no stake in their communities or their futures. However, what’s really sinister is that it’s not just housing stock. BlackRock, along with The Vanguard Group, owns a disproportionate number of American corporations, more even than you realize.

Traditional American values have long been under attack by social justice warriors, cultural Marxists advancing the insidious tenets of critical theory. A word is more than just a neutral label attached to an object; it also carries a time-hardened public attitude. The easiest way to change the attitude is to change the label; hence, I heard on NPR a mention of "sex workers." Juvenile drug-dealers — I kid you not — were called "boys who made a mistake."

There were voluminous reports, from eyewitnesses and experts, of widespread election fraud in the so-called battle states and beyond. Specific allegations were made, and evidence of election rules violations and statistical anomalies were collected. Yet the courts refused to listen to virtually all witnesses and experts, rejected most of the evidence, and refused to subpoena more evidence requested by the plaintiffs. Many state government officials and some top representatives of companies supplying voting machines and software categorically denied any election fraud.

Love them or hate them, electric vehicles (EVs) are in our future. If you doubt that, look at signs. Car companies around the world are in a mad rush to pivot to EV manufacturing. Some examples follow. "Since March 2019, General Motors has committed to invest more than $4.5 billion in three U.S. manufacturing sites to prepare for EV-related production. The company announced it plans to release at least 20 new electric vehicles globally by 2023." This includes a monstrous Hummer which GM is repositioning as a pickup truck to compete directly against Tesla.

While no one can blame the residents — in fact they should be applauded for doing what it takes to protect their own – this is, in ways I’ll explain below, not good. It is, however, a sign of things to come in countless Democrat-run cities:

Americans from our earliest days as a nation have rejected authority, especially when it seems arbitrary and comes from government that seems out of touch with ordinary citizens. Such a domain of authority is extremely delicate when it involves the powers of police to protect public order and safety. Collective large group consciousness and unconsciousness embraces and grants permission for such use of force by the police.

California will soon ban the sale of new gas-powered leaf blowers and lawn mowers after Governor Gavin Newsom signed off on the new law on Saturday. The move is aimed at curbing emissions from a category of small engines on pace to produce more pollution each year than passenger vehicles. The gas-powered equipment to be banned uses small off-road engines, a broad category that includes generators, lawn equipment, pressure washers, chainsaws, weed trimmers and even golf carts. Under the new law these machines must be zero-emissions, meaning they'll have to be battery-powered or plug-in.(Snip)'This is a pretty modest approach to trying

We’ve been talking about how bad the polling has been for Joe Biden, even in deep-blue states like Minnesota. How do you know when it’s getting really bad? When even CNN — usually all in to pimp for Biden — is acknowledging how underwater he is in job approval. He’s down even with Democrats, but what they say is really animating the poll is how much he has dropped with independents. As CNN’s John Berman and Harry Enten put it, the technical term is “not good.” He’s down 10 points among Democrats, 12 among Republicans, but among independents, he’s down 19 points.

The U.S. has agreed to provide humanitarian aid to a desperately poor Afghanistan on the brink of an economic disaster, while refusing to give political recognition to the country's new Taliban rulers, the Taliban said Sunday. The statement came at the end of the first direct talks between the former foes since the chaotic withdrawal of U.S. troops at the end of August. There was no immediate comment from the U.S. on the weekend meeting. The Taliban said the talks held in Doha, Qatar, 'went well,' with Washington freeing up humanitarian aid to Afghanistan after agreeing not to link such assistance to formal recognition of the Taliban.
