As it turns out, all the scientists and doctors who insisted that Merck's "revolutionary" COVID drug molnupiravir is extremely safe weren't faithfully adhering to "the science" after all. Because according to a report published Thursday by Barron's, some scientists are worried that the drug - which purportedly cut hospitalizations in half during a study that was cut short - could cause cancer or birth defects. So much for having a "strong safety profile," as Dr. Scott Gottlieb claimed in an interview on the day Merck first publicized the research.(snip) the drug is widely expected to be one of "the most lucrative drugs ever"

Comments:

Just a few days ago Gottlieb trumpeted that this pill would be “a game changer”. Gottlieb is not to be trusted, IMO.

Americans are being medically experimented on for profit, with the blessings of the US government. If you are skeptical, as many of us are, you will be shamed and financially destroyed unless you agree completely to be a guinea pig.

The emergency use authorizations need to be terminated. There is no emergency. Currently, it is like firemen at your house every day, because there might be a fire. The emergency use should be revoked, the drug companies forced to return to testing their drugs, and only released after testing requirements are met, and with full liability of the drug companies for any damages caused.

Try some exercise, a healthy diet, plenty of sleep, water and fresh air. It’ll work far better than any pill on the market.

Good advice, #7. Remember when people were told to stay indoors, during those cold days, short on sunlight already? When people NEEDED to get outside in the "fresh air" (or NYC's version of it), they were commanded to stay indoors with fetid air and multiplying germs of every kind. Winter is coming. Everyone needs sunlight, vitamin D and C, fresh air. Breath deeply, expand those lungs, exercise them like singers do. Pray GOD sustains us and gives us wisdom.

FTA: Investors apparently were so eager for a new "pandemic panacea" (now that the mRNA jabs have proven to be much less effective than advertised) that they didn't ask too many questions about safety, or even question the paucity of data. I'm not concerned that investors overreacted but I am concerned that those in authority have and that this will be the next potentially deadly mandate.

Impact of forest thinning on wildfires
creates divisions

Posted by earlybird 10/9/2021 2:13:45 PM Post Reply
Firefighters and numerous studies credit intensive forest thinning projects with helping save communities like those recently threatened near Lake Tahoe in California and Nevada, but dissent from some environmental advocacy groups is roiling the scientific community. States in the U.S. West and the federal government each year thin thousands of acres of dense timber and carve broad swaths through the forest near remote communities, all designed to slow the spread of massive wildfires. The projects aim to return overgrown forests to the way they were more than a century ago, when lower-intensity blazes cleared the underbrush regularly and before land managers began reflexively extinguishing every wildfire as soon as possible.

Democrats are worried about another White House bid by former President Trump, something that is appearing increasingly likely on the eve of an Iowa rally by the leading potential GOP candidate. Democrats say Trump can't be taken for granted. While some are confident a new Trump candidacy would bring out a wave of Democratic voters to defeat him, others are worried he could return to power. And that's enough to bring shudders to most in the party. "There's not a strategist or insider that I'm hanging out with who would like to see Donald Trump running again," said Rachel Bitecofer, a Democratic pollster. "Nobody should think he would be a weak nominee."

Details are oddly sketchy to find; however, it appears Victoria State government workers and workers within the judiciary will no longer be mandated to accept the COVID-19 vaccination.(snip) This sets up an unusual dynamic. The vaccine mandate still exists for everyone in the private sector; because of course it does. However, a judge hearing a case that challenges the vaccine mandate would themselves not be subject to the same state-wide mandate argued in their court.

When does a pandemic end? How does a pandemic end? These were the questions I was asking myself after Megyn Kelly hosted Dr. Monica Gandhi on her podcast last week. As it turns out, sooner or later we’ll have to admit that our COVID-19 pandemic is morphing into the endemic stage of the disease. A disease can be classified as endemic when it is “persisting in a population or region, generally having settled to a relatively constant rate of occurrence,” or, as Dr. Gandhi put it, you’ve reached endemic levels of a disease when “it’s gone down to a level where you live with it.”
