A Twitter user asked Spencer if he will be voting for Biden or sitting out the election, given his belief that “Biden/Kamala will be tougher on crime/BLM than Trump.” Spencer responded, “I plan to vote for Biden and a straight democratic ticket. The California Supreme Court on Monday overturned the death penalty sentence for Scott Peterson, convicted in the Christmas Eve murder of his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn son, Conner. The court's decision came more than 15 years after Laci, a Modesto, Calif., school teacher, was killed. Investigators said Peterson dumped his wife's body from his fishing boat into the San Francisco Bay in 2002. The bodies of Laci and Conner surfaced months later.
While the murder conviction against Peterson stayed in place, the court ordered a new penalty phase trial.

As wise stewards of the land, North America's Indians routinely started forest fires. They wanted grazing grounds for the animals they hunted and open spaces to live and hunt on. So before Columbus arrived, there was a lot less forested land than we have today.

Sunday afternoon, the Trump campaign put out a press release containing bullet points of the second-term agenda he’ll run on. It feels like it’s late in the game for him to do that, perhaps, but on the other hand this week is the opening of the Republican convention — so sure, the timing for the agenda makes sense.
It’s been said repeatedly that Trump can’t just wait around for Joe Biden to implode — though the chances aren’t terrible that Biden will do just that, given his 100 percent propensity to vaporize as a presidential candidate in the past and his current suspect capacity with respect to what’s inside his cranium.
Despite the fact that he would be 82 years old at the start of his second term, Joe Biden on Sunday declared that he would “absolutely” serve a full eight years if elected president in November.
If you remember, back in May, he answered concerns about his declining cognitive function by saying, “I will be a transition candidate.”
But in his first prime-time interview since April, on ABC’s “World News Tonight,” Biden emphatically denied he meant he would serve only one term. “No. It doesn’t mean that.”
Then he laughed off a question about his mental fitness.

I've been reading the New York Times since fifth grade, and the quirks I've noticed over the years have been interesting. Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo is inviting officers laid off by defunded police departments throughout the country to join his force telling “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Sunday, “We’re hiring.”

A group of community activists implored Gov. J.B. Pritzker to declare a state of emergency and have the Illinois National Guard deployed to Chicago on Sunday, just two days after Mayor Lori Lightfoot and her allies stymied a similar push during a special City Council meeting.
In calling for the assistance, the activists pointed to the city’s surging summer gun violence as they urged both members of the City Council and Congress to rally behind police officers they claim have been outnumbered and attacked at recent protests.
