Make way for the U.S.S.A. — the United Surveillance States of America.
And it’s all due to COVID-19.
A contact tracing app that administrators at a college in Michigan forced on all students as a condition of their presence on campus not only identifies the app user by name — not only pinpoints the app user by geographic location — not only generates a specific code that labels the app user as either “certified” or “denied,” based on required coronavirus test results — but also sends an alert to school bureaucrats about “denied” students behaving against COVID-19 protocols. Administrators then, in turn, can lock these students’ identification cards

Once the left starts this, it will become the new norm. The COVID is just an excuse to do what they have always wanted to do to us.....complete control.

I'm a radio listener, and Gov. Whitmer has bought up a bunch of airtime for her PSA's where she is pushing the contact tracing crap. She uses her "trying to be sensitive" voice and its really creepy. I also heard of a business that is having their employees wear a device that takes their temperature, has a gps so the company knows if they are too close to coworkers so they can enforce "social distancing". I'd quit.

Go to school somewhere else. How difficult is that?

Be forgetful. Leave the phone at home.

I wonder if this generation of young adults will ever realize the privacy risks or the things that they find so very convenient?! Alexa, smart meters, remote locks, cameras in their homes, phone location apps...
I really think critical thinking skills have been decimated over the last 50 years.

I would say that this is unbelievable, but that word has lost all meaning this year!
The left has managed to make fear a virtue, and are using it to do previously unimaginable things. They will do everything in their power to increase fear, because it is their virtue, and because it enables them to do even MORE unimaginable things. This is a very, very dark path....

If you check the CDC to find out how many Americans died from the plain old garden variety flu this past flu season (October, 2019 to april 2020, you might be surprised that the CDC can only guess at that statistic.
their guess? 26,000 to 60,000 deaths from the plain old flu for that time period.
Yet no one seems to talk about that, probably because most of the deaths were senior citizens - golden agers.
Why do I mention this? Because if every student at Albion College came down with the Kung Flu, the likelihood of death would be close to Zero.
in addition, we will never develop herd immunity if we isolate the youngsters like this.

The problem is in one's hand. Without that item in the hand, there is no connection. Well...duh!

Welcome to Amerika. look up at all the security cameras, those speed and red light cameras, your neighbors' camera doorbells, your phones and that black dot on the frame of your computer screen. But it keeps us all safe, doesn't it? And we all have nothing to hide anyways...

Refuse to download the app, let them expel you, sue. To avoid becoming Amherst College they will settle out of court. You may not need college. Nick Sandman doesn’t.

The students will find several ways around this.
Leave the phone at the dorm when you want to go off campus.
Have 2 phones, one for 'the app' and the other for normal use.
On the other hand, it's the Students and their Parents who choose where the student goes to school... just choose a different school, and tell the 'tracer' crowd- in a VERY public way- why you did NOT choose THEIR school. University administrations are often a spineless bunch, and they'll cave at the first real resistance.

#12 has a good point. I've been keeping the RF-ID transponder in foil in the glove box for years. it's not only activated at toll booths, they are also used to determine traffic flow on roads, based on the time between readings. This from NY with reader maps:

Yes, it's the ACLU but blind pigs still find truffles.
